@@billygough3636 My beef with Thierry's comment wasn't that he said LFC weren't a big club anymore. (they most assuredly HAD fallen off the Elite Club map) It's his empty-headed criticism of FSG, saying they were just "using the Liverpool brand" to enrich themselves.
FSG have overseen Liverpool's rise from the ashes left behind by Hicks & Gillette. There are 2 clubs in Europe that NOBODY wants to face: Barcelona and Liverpool.

People who think Klopp can't turn it around at Liverpool and that he inherited a much better squad in Dortmund don't know what they are talking about. Most of us would only be able to identify about 4 names from the squad he inherited at Dortmund(Weidenfeller, Kehl, Blaszykowski and Hummels[who played in midfield at the time])
He turned Hummels into a defender, bought Lewandowski from Poland for 4.5m euros, promoted Goetze from the academy, Bought Kagawa for around 300,000 euros, bought Gundogan for 4m euros and then later Reus for 17m euros.
He turned all these nobodys with potential into world class players and a team that took the bundesliga and champions league by storm.
His starting position is SO much better at Liverpool and has a lot of pieces in place already. He will be cut throat and I can see him changing the liverpool team alot but he knows what he is doing and knows which kind of players he needs to get his team playing the way he wants.
Compared to Dortmund, Liverpool can offer Klopp far more resources to get the players he needs to deliver success although the premier does stand as a tougher task than the Bundesliga a few years ago.
He really is the man that can bring success back to Anfield

Consider this: at the time Klopp came in, United had a better squad than Liverpool. Then United’s net spend during the Klopp years absolutely dwarfed Liverpool’s net spend. Shows you what difference a good manager and sensible ownership makes.

Remembering watching this back in 2015 and praying JK comes to us ..... Jurgen Klopp is the best thing that has happened to us in the last 25 - 30 years, definitely in my lifetime.
He is the best coach. Guardiola couldn't do what Klopp did with Liverpool.

There's something quite emotional about watching this. We're so used to Liverpool being a top side now we don't consider where it all started. For Klopp to have reinvigorated the club from what it was to where it is now is just remarkable 👏

Actually it is starting to work out that way. Rangnick exposed those at the top and now we are seeing a lot of those people kicked out of the club. Rangnick and Murtough are slowly transforming this club. They are making the football decisions instead of incompetent people like Matt Judge who has just been sacked.

Today, the day of the porto second leg (5 nill up) 3rd in the league, is a great time to be a Liverpool supporter.
Great football being played. And probably the best squad of players I've seen play in the red short. Sadly my earliest memory of lfc is being 10 and us losing the league to Arsenal.
I obviously watched games before that, but that is my earliest memory of lfc. That and gist beating Portsmouth in a fa semi final reply iirc. Oh and sat in my anties watching is go out of an fa cup to Wimbledon. So i did see the last of the greats, i just don't remember them.
So this is great. Watch us get beat 6-0 tonight. 😬

The big difference between Carragher and Neville is Jamie doesn’t look at things with Liverpool goggles on. He understands football more and that times have changed. You can’t just have former players be managers. Klopp was a top manager before Liverpool, and now he is one of the best in the world.

It's crazy how in 4 years, Klopp has turned Liverpool into a struggling, average team into European Champions, Premier league champions and one of the best teams in the world. I think Klopp could be one of the best managers of all time.
I really respect Klopp. He took over a Dortmund side who was almost bankrupt and won two consecutive league titles and a cup some years later. Then he took over a falling Liverpool side and brought them back to top in champions league and premier league in a league with giants which had much more money.

I still remember being in my uni lecture and listening to Klopps first press conference and I was absolutely buzzing with Liverpool getting him. Now years later, it was arguably the best decision Liverpool made.
