currently left 1 year finishing my masters of architecture.... the secret to survive and even being a top class student in this course is TIME MANAGEMENT no matter how genius you are in designing , software , etc....if u dont manage your time youre doomed.

      Rules to successful time management:
      - don’t procrastinate, if you were good at high school doing this then don’t have it after leaving because remember just because you get accepted doesn’t mean you should celebrate hard and forget the reason why you got there
-Know your limits so focus energy on getting tasks done one at a time then taking at least a 10 minute break
-Practice working with your hands whether it’s the computer software you’ll be using (Rhino, AutoCAD, Illustrator, etc.) or drafting or putting together your printed work
-Go to sleep, wake up early, then do some exercise or at least stretch (this gets you motivated for long work ahead and it releases stress by getting your heart pumping)
-Prep your meals and bring it in, the studio is your new home
-And finally, and this one is the important one, don’t make a habit of looking at the clock every few minutes, during this time you can find shortcuts or ways to finish small work that’s off to the side

I am an architecture student. It is hard, draining, and makes you question your ability. If you really want to survive you have to purely love architecture. That’s what our instructors always say. It’s not just drawing and stuff (like how most people see it).

I finished Architecture at the top of my class from one of the best colleges and those were the most stressful days of my life. I had a non existent social life and didn't get any time to pursue my other interests, didn't make enough friends. Ah man, it's like you have got to choose , either be great at your work or live life. No one gets the best of both worlds.
I actually mastered time management during those years cause I could never give up on sleep but let me tell you, I had time to do absolutely nothing else. Felt so lonely.

This video is like those advertisements trying to lure you into buying it honestly. I've finished architecture school. Wasn't fun at all to stay up for 5-6days straight and then face critic. Even if you get praised [which might be like twice in 4-5 years] it won't be worth the amount of inhumanely hours you have to put into.
And for jobs. hehehehe..goodluck surviving biasness and favoritism.
But if you are indeed very passionate about architecture then go for it. It'll be like unfolding a new world.
Other than that just cuz it looks fun and seems interesting, trust me it ain't worth it that way.

We just finaished our level 3, 8 storey floor general hospital in 10 hectare lot last week. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. we were only given one month until the deliberation and we ended up being roasted by the jury. We only had 2 hours minimum and 4 hours maximum sleeping hours every single day not to mention the weeks near the deadline that had atleast 24 or 48 hours of no sleep. We barely even eat meals. It was a nightmare and of course this did not happen once.

If you're more interested in the arts, I say go for art major. But if you like planning, constructing, and building buildings or any technical stuff, then go for architecture. Architecture does deal with design and creative elements, but it also deals with of lots of logical thinking, math, science as well. You have to be REAL passionate to have the stamina and endure the rigorous coursework. So if you know you're good in areas like that, architecture might be just right for you. I'm in my first semester of architecture. Not enjoying it one bit. I'm pretty good in drawing too so needless to say, I was pretty disillusioned going into Architecture. Figured art major is more suitable for me. Really think about what you really want to do and whether you're able to stick with it until the end.

To me, someone who is not passionate about this major, going into it was dreadful. I was indecisive whether i want to go into architecture or not but now I know for sure it's not for me. From what I've seen, I think that most who are content with being in this field is highly passionate about it (sure thing). So their love for architecture is what really drive them to work harder and endure any challenges. You can be terrible at it but still push through and get better, that if you know for sure this is right for you. If not, you'd just end up treating the work load like a restless chore.

David Torres no. I've researched this question a lot because I'm not good at drawing either and from asking architects I personally know they have all said no. Nowadays a lot of architecture planning is done on CAD and 3D printing. That's not to say you don't have to draw but being taught how to draw what you want using the right tools will make it a lot easier.

I almost failed Algebra 1 my freshman year of high school. I’m a senior now and I’m in a legitimate College Algebra class. I’m a whole grade ahead of what’s recommended. It might not be impressive to some people but I find it hard to believe that I was able to step up my game so much. I concluded that my brain was not ready for algebra, and I struggled in class because I couldn’t comprehend the curriculum. I don’t know your situation, but it’s 100% possible for you to get better at math if you really want it. Don’t let one little thing change your whole life. There are ample amounts of resources out there to help you improve. Good luck
