As a head shaver your videos were one my references in trying out the original occam razor. My first few shave did not go down well and so I shelved the razor. One thing I could not figure out was how you were pulling that razor on your face like a cowboy without bleeding. I thought you were brave and at times reckless. I recently tried it again using the 3 dots plate for a week on daily shave with amazing results. Just like you I managed to pull pull that razor on my dome as you. What a BBS it gives. It beats handsdown the following razor in my den - the Timeless Ti95 SB, SS68SB, SS68OC,SS Slim, every configuration on ATT classic, ATT SS Winsor Pro, ATT mixed metal CM1 and CR1, Rec Envoy, Smart Helix Apollo both plates, Blackland Dart, Blackland Blackbird, PAA Copper Ascension Twist, Merkur Heavy Duty, Winning Razor, Razorock V3 OC. I can buff until my arm get tired with out nicks or razorburn. I will keep all other razors for bragging rights but the occam razor with Feather Professional blades rules the roost for me.
I'm so happy the razor finally works the way you want it to. Wishing you nothing but the best shaves with it. Now you know why I use it in just about every shave I do
I had a brushed stainless occams razor for the last three years before the Oren was released and didn't get an Oren. You're right about this razor, it's the perfect smooth razor. Few weeks ago you spoke about buying the rose gold occams razor at a bargain discount price. I went ahead and bought one too. Today I get a mail for the Oren razor on sale for fathers day and I get that one too !
Actually the easiest way to load the blade is just slide it backwards from the front side of the razor, then prick an old ac blade between the head and the loading blade, bend it slightly and pull until it’s aligned and locked over the nodes. Takes few seconds to do it.
Hi Donald- Great shave and review today, thank you! Nice looking razor and it looked like a great performer, too. The lather on your shave soap was phenomenal. I hope your weekend is going well and all the best! See you next week!
Just ordered one 10minutes ago! So looking forward to it. Going to pair it with the pro guard blades I already have from a different razor. Thanks for the review. It made my decision a lot easier.
Just remember I have the O.R.E.N it called the Occam's Razor Enhanced Nano which can be found here - tinyurl.com/yg2sfpd9 they have been out of stock for years
@@MrDonXX yes I ordered mine from there but it is the other brand. The Oren is still out of stock. They look to be very much the same except the handles are not skeletonized. Hopefully it will be just as good but Pricewise seems like a good deal
Just got my occam razor today and used it and all I can say is wow. Now I know why you use yours so often. That gave me the most mild and close shave in a long time. So happy I saw this video even though it is not exactly the same one you show.
I just bought a black one of these, I followed your example tried the medium with a Proguard blade. Wow is all I can say it took off a 6 day heavy growth like a knife through butter(No nicks!), I ordered it got 20% off it was 100$. Oh yeah great soaps, I really like the tobacco scented soaps you make they are awesome and excellent slickness.
Another great review, thanks for sharing, Don. To be honest I miss the music - personal preference of course and understood on paying attention to the feedback from the Occam today. Keep up the great work!
great video as always. this is by far my favorite razor (out of a large/expensive set of razor collection) because: it is the most simple/indestructible 1 piece razor, is the fastest to load/unload the blade (once you get the hang of it tool not required), the largest cutting surface area, the most efficient to rinse, uses the most sharp/efficient/solid (Feather) blade but yet surprisingly safe nick/irritation-free (Feather Pro-guard), and the most long lasting blade i have ever seen (I can get 2weeks-1 month out 1 feather pro-guard blade). I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS RAZOR!
I love this razor. For me the mild head with the pro guard razors are the absolute best. Never get any irritation or nicks and still get a bbs shave in like two passes.
Great video Don. Yeah the screws are probably an awkward start but like the Supply razor once you get the plate for you you won't change it. Have a great week, see you next Saturday.
Don, you asked about the music while shaving. Well, I am kind of indifferent about it. If a music is too loud or I don't like it, I turn the volume down. If a video were too long, I would wind forward... I don't have any problems with all that. I watch because I am interested in the content, the review, the chat. You are doing fine.🎬👍🏼
I always seem to let the first version of anything slip by and get what was intended on V2.0I do that with Apple Products all the time and shaving hardware seems to fall in the category as well
Great shave and video Don. That Feather Proguard is a pretty sharp blade and those Artist Club blades also last a really long time. I've heard of people getting upwards of 12 or more shaves per blade. For me I prefered the Kai Captain blades in my Hawk SE razor and I would more than likely go with the mild plate if I was to buy this razor.
Thanks for watching Stephen, The combo of blade and razor seems to works very well I'm not a fan of Feather blades only because they nick me all the time (So Sharp) but I had no choice. It all worked out for me but will see going forward if everthing it still working greate
Yeah the razor has a lot to do with those blades. My Hawk SE always drew blood no matter what I did even when stretching the skin like I do with my straight razors. That's not too bad of a price on that razor either.
Very nice review Don! I just went online and bought one! Hope it works for me as we’ll as it did for you! I have and enjoy a Razorock hawk which uses the same blades so I’m optimistic. 🤞
LOL! "Hey, I'm a shaving expert who makes soaps and hosts a wet shaving channel on RUclips, and I'm having an issue with your razor". "Yes, sir, you're inserting the blade backwards". Love the self-deprecating humor, Don! Thanks for that. I have heard those Feather single edge blades don't last as long as their DE counterparts, but I have never tried one so I can't comment. The Himitsu looks interesting as well! Hope you have a fantastic week....

Thanks for watching Chris. Just to let you know we sell samples of all the shaving soap as well.
Don, thanks for showing us this interesting new SE safety razor. I like its modern design. I'm sure it is good quality. What I don't like is the complicated exchange of the base plates, the blade loading, and that it cannot be used with standard blades. This makes it a no go for me, even if it is best quality and design. Have a great week, Don. 💈👍🏼
I understand your concerns and all are a valid point to take pause. I hate the base plate system but once you have selected the proper one for your type of beard it's rarely done again. The BIG PAIN for me would be the blades. Thanks for watching Patrick see you next time

here is the FAQ -Hey! what’s that razor you always use? It’s called the Occam’s Razor Enhanced-Nano or O.R.E.N for short. I was a backer on the Kickstarter and got in as an early bird for $45.00. then it was released to the public for 125.00 During COVID it got up to $225.00 due to shipping issues to and from China. I have wonderful news they just announced they have some of them back in stock so please take a look but remember the one I have is the O.R.E.N it has a hollowed out handle. Hurry, They won't last long www.classicshaving.com/
Thanks for the presentation. The razor is a no for me. First, it's out of my price range and it seems a bit gimmicky like it is trying to reinvent the wheel. Your kickstart price sounds like a good value for you and I'm glad that you enjoy it. No doubt it does the job well.
Patrick, I tend to jump on Kickstarters and try to get the Early Bird prices without that I would never be able to afford anything. I take a chance but sometimes it turns out to be good.
I bought this razor when Version 1 models were on sale (~$50), but it really works well for me due to the adjust-ability. Even with Feather Professional Super blades at setting three (which they don't recommend) the thicker Artist Club blades give a very close, comfortable shave (provided you do skin stretching) -- more so than the majority of aggressive DE razors I've used (slant razors, Mühle R41, Merkur Futur, iKon Tech). The design seems inspired by the Enders Speed razor, which I think was developed in the 1930s, that used proprietary blades. I was very fortunate to find a new-old-stock model (probably from the 1950s), with a pack of unused blades, but current Schick injector blades, which are also thick, can be fitted.
Gillette Mach 3 and razors along those lines are all manufactured to be kind of idiot proof that being said you can still cut yourself with them. When using a DE razor or an Occam's Razor (Singal Edge) they do the best they can to make it safe to use but the danger of cutting your self is still there and goes for all razors so don't think you can't cut yourself with a Gillette Mach 3 because you can!
Hi Don. Seems like a well designed efficient razor. I guess though that I just don`t really care for the looks of the handle. It just seems to lack any character. Much to plain. Not that pleasing to the eye, at least for me. Thanks for the video.
I understand Brian, the first version didn't have the hole in the handle which made the weight of the razor just too much for some people that's why it was redone like this but I get the fact that it's an odd looking single edge but it does work well for me. Thanks for watching ee you next week
see if this works for you - www.classicshaving.com/collections/occams-razor/products/gold-occam-s-razor-single-edge-safety-razor its not the same one but its close the nano is the best and they are sold-out
Let me make this clear The Model T for me it Tops. Now looking at a different style of Razor like Occam that for me as of this writing is the best single edge.
impressive shave. My only experience of a feather se razor war the Hawk v2. That thing was just awful for me. Even with Feather pro blades it just would not cut my beard. I love my injectors and gems but The Hawk is not for me. The Occams looks interesting.
At my price point, it was easy to find out if you liked it or not but at $85.00 it would be a loss if it came up short. that being said I have found nothing wrong with this one and I dare not try the most aggressive setting which might be perfect for you Roy. Thanks for watching and see you next time.
If considering one of these adjustable single edge razors, Classic Shaving's 'Occam's Razor' accepts one of five Feather Artist Club blades (which come in three depths: 7.4, 8.0 and 8.2mm, some with 'guard' options), four Kai single edge blades (one with 'guard' options) and Schick Proline P-30 blades, all allowing more choices to help you fine-tune towards the smoothest and most efficient shave. [You can try Artist Club blade samplers for these blades from Tryablade and Razorbladesclub.] Supply Company's adjustable Single Edge 2.0 razor (if I'm not mistaken) only accept injector blades (in one depth) by Schick and Personna. Usually, when one finds a blade they prefer all other options are irrelevant, but the width of each razor head may also be worth considering: the Single Edge 2.0 razor takes 38.1mm width injector blades, while the Occam's Razor (plus similar Hiram Commander adjustable and Enoch non-adjustable single edge razors) take 50mm width Artist Club style blades. In any case, the thickness of single edge razor blades seem to provide a smoother shave over standard double edge blades. If still undecided, maybe consider a vintage Schick injector style razor.
$135.00 too rich for my blood.... I know of two awesome razors I could get for that price, I guess I’d rather have two than one. I enjoy a variety of razors, I am sure I could toss all my razors and just use this razor, i could also toss all my brushes and just keep one, I could just use white Paraso and toss my entire collection of soaps out...but I won’t because I like variety, this nice razor cuts into my wet shaving variety budget. One of my best razors, a slant 37 cost me $24 bucks, my SLAB cost me $30, that’s two stud Razors for $54.....great channel, don’t get too in bed with these vendors it will eventually come back to bite you.
All Hardware like the razor I have purchased as kick starters so no alliance to anyone. Brushes same way altho some vendors will send me something to try and I always tell them it's going to be an honest review good or bad for them some have backed away in fear others say tell me what's wrong so we can improve. One of my favorite brushes is a Zen Shave brush which is currently being redone to protect it. So I have the opportunity to show some of these other brushes from Frank Shave very inexpensive. I have one for $11.00. I have also done reviews on the razor you liked as well. My 37 slant was the preferred razor for some time for me but things change we try different things. Paul if you feel me leaning in one direction too much please always speak out and pull me back in line and that goes for anyone reading this. I'm not a perfect person but I always listen.
Donald Youngner you’re doing fine it’s your channel you do it the way you want we’ll still watch. ....I am just not very interested in razors that exceeded $60 or soaps that break the $20 mark. I am a shave enthusiast but no way will I spend $100"00 on a razor unless it was the only one I’d ever shave with. Same with soaps, if I just used one soap and it coast $35 that’s fine too. I just prefer a different razor and I different soap each shave, but I won’t let myself invest in five hundred dollars worth of hardware when in thrush just one would do the job. If they took all my razors and left me with just the Slant 37 and some Paraso soap, a $2O Samogue brush I’d be just fine. I really miss the “ Cheap shaver” guy he had the best thing going, sorry to see his show close. Keep up the good work I’ll watch you regardless, you’re a real pro.
Nice review Don, it seems like a good single edge razor, although i am more interested in razors that use the standard DE blades. I ordered the Leaf shave too.... it seems i am also getting addicted trying different kind of razors, i already got 4 now and with the Leaf i got 5, and that within the first half year i started shaving with DE razors. I think it will be a great razor for a quick shave when i am in a hurry. Will let you know. cheers Thomas
What an ironically named wet shaver. Typically Occam is associated with parsimony, simplicity, and dispensing with the superfluous. Here's an eponymous wet shaver that requires specialty blades held in excessive packaging......a special "key" for removing spent blades......& requires spare parts and a screwdriver to adjust aggressiveness.....etc etc. It's the virtual opposite if its namesake.
Yes, all true but one fantastic razor and you get one right now at $55.00 until Saturday when the price goes back up so if you want one act now!!! tinyurl.com/y39vkpcd If you have never used one your missing out I promise it will be one of the best shaves you've ever had. how was the shave with that razor so to change plates you have to un do those two screws
Yes! but once you find the correct setting you really never going to make the change again
I want this razor. Where it is available
here is the FAQ -Hey! what’s that razor you always use? It’s called the Occam’s Razor Enhanced-Nano or O.R.E.N for short. I was a backer on the Kickstarter and got in as an early bird for $45.00. then it was released to the public for 125.00 During COVID it got up to $225.00 due to shipping issues to and from China. I have wonderful news they just announced they have some of them back in stock so please take a look but remember the one I have is the O.R.E.N it has a hollowed out handle.
Hurry, They won't last long

Nice review.:) Really enjoyed it.:) One pass!:)
Thanks Mark and thanks for watching
Does this blade cut when shaving like the usual safety razor or is it as safe to use like the Gillette Mach 3.
Donald Youngner Thanks Donald, but I must say that was one of the fastest smooth shaving that I've ever seen using a safety razor.
Thanks for watching ee you next week
which one do you prefer, the Supply single edge v2 or the Occam ?
Well so far its Occam
@@MrDonXX may i ask you why ?
i'm watching vids about those single edge razors, and ask myself if there is a real difference with the safety ones (?)
Don, where can I buy one of these???

Is it still available ? I can't find it anywhere
Sorry no due to the COVID19 issues it may never go back into production some have said
see if this works for you - www.classicshaving.com/collections/occams-razor/products/gold-occam-s-razor-single-edge-safety-razor its not the same one but its close the nano is the best and they are sold-out
ok, thank you
Nothing has still surpassed that Model T, has it, Brother D.Y?
Torn between this razor or the single blade from supply company 🤔
Thanks for your kind words. See you next week Paul.
Don! I just ordered one! (VLS)
I think your going to love it I use the Feather ProBlade myself
I have a question. Have you ever accidentally got a permanent stain on a shirt collar because of a shaving cream?
No not from shaving Cream food yes shaving cream no
@@MrDonXX Lol I have definitely had the same happen.
nice, but leaf razor is cheaper and takes regular blades
also, has a pivot head
Love to try that one
Nice review Don, it seems like a good single edge razor, although i am more interested in razors that use the standard DE blades. I ordered the Leaf shave too.... it seems i am also getting addicted trying different kind of razors, i already got 4 now and with the Leaf i got 5, and that within the first half year i started shaving with DE razors. I think it will be a great razor for a quick shave when i am in a hurry. Will let you know. cheers Thomas
The Leaf is awful, too mild and cuts one's face up. Had nothing but bad results on the Leaf.
The thing is once you set the desired setting you most likely will never change it Feather blades or for that matter, single edge blades are hardly specialty items. I purchased mine online not so special
I just got the less expensive rose gold version of this razor, sans Nano.
Please let us know what you think Thanks for watching looking forward to your comments.
