Have you not thought about a shock sock? I made my own from a neoprene knee support tubing when I first bought it, I then sprayed it with ACF50 and did the same every year. I put it on by cutting it length ways and wrapped it around the shock from top to bottom and secured it with cable ties. Last year I checked the shock and it was bright and clean with no rust whatsoever.
I was going to get the sock when I done the drop links, but yes I'm still going to, I 'm toying with buying the YSS shock and springs upgrrading the whole suspension👍👍👍
Yeah I bought one it was only about £10 off eBay and my bike is now on over 60000 miles and the rear shock is still going well looks brand new under there
Thanks for the video. A while ago I used to run the rear and wax the chain the way you did. Then once I got a red ‘system-check’ warning light on the dash that scared me. Turned out by running the tire off the ground it can throw off the rear ABS sensor. The dealer just had to re-set the code but it had me worried when I first saw it pop up. It may not happen to you but thought I’d mention it just in case.
@@birchwoodbiker I will be honest, not sure you ever smoked cigarettes, but I really enjoyed them when I was younger. I quit at age 33 and only smoke a cigarette..... Well never now. They are not made the same. But the pipe smoking has brought back the out doors time, the enjoyment of thought and the attempting to master the pipe. I would have anyone try it for a couple months. One pipe and a tin and see if it is a hobby is right for someone. It has been amazing for me. It's not been addictive and 100 percent enjoyable.
Any reason you didn't go for a neoprene sock over the shock, i put one on my Nc the first week i bought the bike and it seems to work fine. Also any tips on adjusting the rear preload, as i find it a real swine to do, to the point that im looking at upgrading to a shock with remote preload. Btw, page 136 of the owners manual says check the chain slack with the bike on the side stand.
I bought a sock just never fitted it, and will at some stage, To be honest on preload, I,ve not adjusted mine on this bike, but it will rasee the hieght and stiffen the ride from stock, you also have to understand the slack, I would of thought from stack settings it will be ok, it's when you ad extra weight it can get stiff over bumbpy ground. I'll have a look myself on the forums, Honda Africa Twin & NC750x Stuff is really good tuber for the older NC 👍👍👍
@@birchwoodbiker Thank you. I’m going to push my luck and ask you one more question if I may: do you have a recommendation for soft bags (don’t like hard cases) that would fit and hang securely on those carriers? Thank you for your time.
I bought a 2024 Honda NC750xDCT and at age 65 I love mine. I recommend it if your a mellow conservative rider. It's a all around work horse. @@fatihgokkaya483

Yes, like the fella I warned about how he was using his saw in a dangerous manner, he'd been doing it that way for years he replied. The next time I saw him he had 3 1/2 fingers on his right hand! It's never too late to break a bad habit.

meant to say have to wind Nic up tell him I've bought another 10 subs😂😂😂👍
@@birchwoodbiker only ten? I bought..... let's see, 152 subs. The rest are family and you guys! 😂
@51:55, You should never lube a chain like that, putting your fingers so close to a fast moving chain! People have lost their fingers doing that 😑
I know it's the danger that excites me🤣🤣🤣👍

Great video, thank you. I noticed you have a GP Kompozit crash bar. Diditfit ok or did you have to modify anything? Thank you for your time.

How many miles/km did you get out of this chain?
That's about what I got from my stock chain on my 2018.
Looks like your chain is ready to be replaced based on the swingarm marks and how loose your chain is.
Cheers!
Cheers Nick Yes I've ordered a DID Chain, pretty poor 10k out of a chain that has been cared for👍👍👍
@@birchwoodbiker I just realized you have a NC750X DCT, and a RE Himalayan. I have a 2015 NC700X DCT and a 2019 RE Himalayan.. Excellent choices..😁
Looks like the bike needed a good wash before starting this job!

Don't lube the chain like that. It a finger just waiting to be chopped of. Do it properly, it doesn't take much longer
