Hi Flor. Thanks for the video. It was super informative and exactly what I was looking for. Just one thing, is there a gym in glacier lane? I'm trying to get huge this winter season.

Ahh great, I'm glad! Hahaha, yeah there is!! Between the two blocks of Fairmont housing there is a gym (pretty small though, just one room on the ground floor of one of the buildings) and you just pay once for a key! Not sure if Vail have a gym though, sorry!

this was brilliant, flo! thank you. i had absolutely no luck in gaining employment with the fairmont or vail for this coming winter season :( so i'm planning for next summer and then hopefully the following winter. i actually have a bunch of questions for you (don't feel pressured to answer them, of course!)
    - what was your role? in the winter and summer. i understand there is a ski valet position in the winter, but apart from that is it mostly just server positions?
    - what are some things that would make me stand out in the job process? because as i said, i had no luck this time round.
    - i would love to see a compilation of videos/vlogs that you have of your time in Whistler (of course, if you are comfortable).
    - did you actually save money? go on trips etc?
i think that's it for now! mega soz for the long comment.

Yay, I'm glad you enjoyed! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your comment, it's been a busy week!!
Oh no! :( It is notoriously hard to get a job in Whistler, it's too popular unfortunately! I would definitely say going in summer it's potentially easier to get a job, so good thinking with going next year!
I started off as a ski valet in my first season, then moved to the Fairmont golf course for the summer, then into In room dining (delivering food to rooms) for my last winter season, and the start of the summer this year! There are loads of different jobs you can get in Whistler!! If you liked the idea of working in one of the hotels, you have a lot of server positions, housekeeping and then some other random jobs like ski valet for example. However, if you were to work for the resort (which would be Vail in Whistler) you can do lots of different things, like being a lift operator, ticket sales, working in retail in one of the shops in the village or fitting boots and skis for people in a rentals store! There's something for everyone hahaha!
For standing out, it's difficult to say unless there was a specific role you were going for, but I would definitely say for the hotel server and barista roles, it deff helps to have some experience in those areas that you can put on your CV!
Of course!! I think I have a couple of videos that maybe I can hash together, unfortunately I didn't film many solid vlogs whilst I was there though because I was too busy working or skiing hahaha😂
I did manage to save some money yes!! The whole of my recent europe trip was funded by Whistler, and we also did some other trips whilst I was there to places like Washington!! Whilst Whistler definitely is not a cheap place to live, staff accom means that not a lot of your wage is going to housing, leaving the rest for you to spend. Also, working in food and bev is good in somewhere like Canada because the tips are so good!
Hope that covers most of what you wanted to know, let me know if there's anything else I can help with!! :)

@@florencestoney2919 thank you for your reply. much appreciated!! :) Would you then recommend going for the golf and ski valet positions? I'm not entirely interested in f & b, but I guess I can't be too picky lol.
