Another option with a silver flute is to upgrade the head joint.
I just purchased a silver head joint,14k lip plate and riser with 10K gold plated interior, the difference in sound is really awesome 💖🎼

I love Altus, their flutes are wonderful. I live seeing people's reactions to trying any Altus.

Did you ever review the Powell 9K Conservatory Aurumite and the Powell Custom Ruby Aurumite and 14K Aurumite? This also falls into this category. These flutes are all wonderful!

I do love the Aurumite Powells! I'm pretty sure I reviewed those in another video, but thank you for including this comment - very helpful!

I like all of them, but I might more tend toward the latter one

I remember trying out a gold flute and being like, "How does anyone play on this?" It's VERY resistant. It's also too warm for me. I like a gold riser, lip, and maybe crown. The more gold, the hard the flute is to play.

I never really liked the sound of Altus flutes. But this 1207 blew my mind. It is so much fuller in sound than the other two. They are not even in the same park as far as I am concerned.

Solid Silver all parts is the best 👌

Without a doubt you shine on the Brannen! As an Altus girl I wanted the Altus to be the best. But really that Brannen was Head and shoulders above the other two. The Altus was great fantastic, the Haynes looked and sounded cheap. The cheapo case. How can I say that that a Haynes looks cheap. It just does.

Hi I have a question is atsui and aurumite the same thing and does it make the sound warmer like a gold headjoint or riser

I can't help this! A sterling flute will take you as far as would ever be able to go. Watching my son grow up studying guitar, I became too aware of those who focused on gear while he simply did the hard work of it two and a half hours per day, day in and day out. You cannot buy the skill developed over years of hard effort and gold does not do more than silver. I have not seen scientific evidence of a difference and I have never seen test results on plating, but laminating makes things more rigid and dampens vibration. I would go for a solid metal unless testing shows objectively that there is a benefit. I think it is in the head joint. At any rate, be aware of your own subjectivity--earn that gold flute first. Peace to you! Love the flute you have!

I am really curious how the plating wears over time. Similar to jewelry I would imagine that with handling it that it can fade and wear away. Which makes me also wonder if you can have it replated.
I personally have a Pearl silver flute but have an Armstong head joint that is gold plated on the lip plate, riser, and inside the head joint tube. So this is something I am definitely interested in.
All look and sound wonderful too.

Someone, please correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the Powell Aurumite, Haynes Fusion, and Burkart 9k Au/Ag are actually a layer of gold and a layer of silver that are fused under high pressure and heat, so gold layer is much thicker than plating. I am not sure how thick the plating is on the Altus Atsui, but if it’s anything like their silver plating, it won’t wear quickly - they really mean it when Japanese manufacturers plate their instruments!

What model of Armstrong do you have? I have an 80B with a gold lip plate. I don't know about the riser. When you look inside through the lip plate, it looks like gold inside but I don't know if it's just the reflection from the plate. I bought it in 1990, and I can't find much info on if it had a gold riser and inside. I love it, still have it, but had to get something with an offset G...and got a Pearl (also with gold lip plate). I love it even more--it's so easy to play in all registers. Sometimes I can't believe I'm playing in an upper register because it's so easy
