What should we try next? 🤔
a properly baked biscuit and the correct gravy paired with it 😏
Get fresh made biscuits and try with butter and jam
Wendy's! 😁
@@yassandfats there's an American style diner in the UK that other brits have done videos at. The food looks pretty good, and accurate. Would love to see you two try some dishes there. (No I don't know the name, but it had all of its chairs, tables and decorations imported from the US back in the 60s or 70s. I think it's inside of a railroad car.)
Some homemade biscuits and gravy 😊
That biscuit was burnt.
Not the first time I've seen a UK Popeyes burn the biscuits either. They need some retraining.
Yeah, that was not a proper biscuit.
Yeah, there’s no reason for those biscuits to be crunchy like that - Popeyes UK should be embarrassed
Now y'all know, them British folks can't cook. Ain't nobody ever said "ooh I can't wait to go to Britain to eat their food" ......Okay maybe a blind🦯 🦮 man, with a hearing impairment with no sense of smell and no taste buds. There, it's plausible. 😮😂
Popeyes biscuits suck regardless.
If a southerner was handed that biscuit, there would be a fight. Dont hand me a cremated biscuit
Right, start swinging at the sight of that cause hell nah 😂
Yeahhhhhhhhh if there’s not enough gravy to straighten that thing out? We’re going to have a problem 😂
Any American 😂
Yeah I moved from Detroit to NC and DAMN they love their biscuits down here. I think they're fine but they're serious about biscuits.
i saw this comment before i saw the biscuit, didn't know what you meant and right when they pulled it out i said, "what in the hell did they do to that biscuit?!" burnt and terrible 🤣
As a native Louisianan, the way he pronounces “Cajun” is making me uneasy 😬🤣
He says it with the 'U' before the 'A'. I'll be honest, I think I've only had Popeyes once ever. We just had a Popeyes restaurant open up about a mile away from me. Maybe I've got to give them another try. I'm getting hungry watching and I already ate my dinner.
Coo-jon, hahaha!
@@dontworrybehappy8080 never eat the biscuit, dry, its a fatal error
Ha! I'm from Oklahoma and my difficulty is how they say ranch. It's a big world for sure.
@BrianMclerran i grewup in a viklage where the whole village calls it "Lea & Perrins" cuz Worchestershire was too boujee lolol
The biscuit was overcooked. I could tell by the dark caramel colored coating which is an immediate sign that the biscuit has been overcooked to the point of the loss of any moisture. Usually in those cases it can be salvaged by placing a cup of water next to the dried biscuit (on a plate) in the microwave under a microwavable cover and microwaving for about 12 to 18 seconds.
Jeez! Thats some Popeye eating pro tip right there! lol
That biscuit was burnt not cooked like ours, and we put honey on them or dip it with chicken mashed potatoes and gravy. Also I don’t know if it was an option but the spicy chicken is what’s popular. I wouldn’t call that American mac and cheese lol but it’s coo for fast food. We also don’t really do the deluxe for our sandwhich just spicy with pickles that’s it. Most of dig Popeyes but it’s just fast food we have real chicken spots that blow it out of the water but Popeyes for something fast always hits.
CHICKEN SANDWICH, SANDWICH SANDWICH....CAJUN...(KAY-JUN) Fries😂😂😂😂😂
Naw man in this timeline it's Coo-John.
@@thelightshineth8848 hahahahahaha Yeah, Coo-John!
@@thelightshineth8848 😄
I've gotten a lot of heat when I've corrected the sandwich vs burger issue. I'm always screaming "a sandwich doesn't make it a burger just because it's on a burger bun". Then there's the biscuits vs scone debate.
just let people call it a burger if they want, jesus
When we say biscuits and gravy. We are not talking about biscuits and just any gravy. We are referring to a specific white pepper gravy. Also, the biscuits need to be hot. But to be honest. You've set the bar pretty low. With Popeyes. They don't have the best Mac n cheese or biscuits. Also you need to try honey on biscuits. We would've opened the biscuits and put a chicken tender on it. With a bit of honey. And ate it like a sandwich.
compared to kfc, popeyes is gourmet.
Their biscuits are really good when cooked properly. One of, if not the, best in fast food.
As bread, biscuits are pretty good with most kinds of gravy. But yes, biscuits and gravy is biscuits as an open face sandwich with white gravy usually either pepper gravy or sausage gravy.
Pepper gravy? Is that different than sausage gravy
@Austin.Kilgore it's the same thing as long as it as a milk or cream base. Its called different names. But yes its just white pepper gravy with sausage. But you can make it without meat or can use bacon even.
As others have said, that biscuit was way overcooked. This isn't the first time I've seen burnt biscuits from someone trying them over there. Someone needs to go over and teach them how to make them right.
Edit: That's also not the right type of gravy for "biscuits and gravy". We would have white sausage gravy on them.
I expected mashed potatoes under the gravy.
That poor biscuit. Whoever cooked that biscuit needs to be reported for abuse...lol. The gravy is meant for Mashed potatoes. You dip the chicken into the mash and gravy. Great video, thanks for sharing, can't wait until you try authentic American food in America. When we refer to biscuits and gravy, it is most typically a milk gravy, and more often than not, that of the breakfast sausage variety.
Yeah, I'm from the home of Popeyes... New Orleans, and that biscuit doesn't look anything like a typical Popeye's biscuit. Our biscuits here are much lighter in color.
@@MegaTechno2000technically, the first Popeye's Chicken was in Arabi, LA. Which is a suburb of New Orleans.
@@snowflakehunter Yes, that is correct but nobody's ever heard of Arabi LOL
@@MegaTechno2000even the shape of the biscuit is different, like the shape/ridges in it is completely new to me.
Being from Louisiana I’m proud to say that the Popeyes chain originated in New Orleans and spread throughout the country, also me personally I just eat Popeyes chicken without the sauces, I rather eat it by itself
Cajun fries is the original fries.
Cajun fries are the only fries available now, but originally, they offered only regular fries. When I first tried Popeyes, in 1974, a two-piece dinner was $1.99! Now it's $8.00 and the chicken is horrible!
They need to know about "Cajun Sparkle" one of Popeyes best kept secrets.
Love your reactions. You seem like a sweet couple. And Fats' laugh is infectious!
the red beans n rice is nice, the macaroni is my favorite side, but the biscuits with mash potatoes and gravy really hit the spot for me
Say it with me... SANDWICH 😂😂
All over England, Europe, Asia, any meat on a bun is called burger. They are quite right calling it a burger. We in America are the odd man out. We'll stick to our ways and let them stick to theirs. As long as it tastes the same, who cares what they call it.
We don't care if they call their foods whatever they want. But if they are eating American food, they should learn how to use the name correctly. @lboden7239
@@lboden7239 I mean, idc that they call it something different, but it is certainly not correct. Ground chicken formed into a patty and grilled is not the same (and doesn't taste the same) as a fried chicken breast. Thats why we refer to them differently. One is a chicken burger, the other is a chicken sandwich. Because you are literally 'sandwiching' a whole piece of chicken between the buns.
@@lboden7239 "burger" is short for "Hamburger" which is short for Hamburger Sandwich, which was the original name for it. Immigrants from Hamburg Germany likely popularized ground beef in the US hence the name Hamburger. For much of the 20th century, Ground Beef was often referred to as Hamburger Meat.
@@lboden7239 I disagree. The term "burger" is a term from the US, which as another pointed out is a shortened word derived from a dish known as a Hamburg Sandwich. the places that you mentioned see a sandwich on a round bun, and equate them with American Hamburgers, or "burgers" so they call it a burger. Therefore the application of this American term would be incorrect.
*GROUNDED chicken = chicken BURGER*
*chicken filet = chicken SANDWICH*
*GROUNDED beef = BURGER*
*steak filet = sandwich*
LOL ! Are you that frigging STUPID ?? There is no such thing as Ground Chicken unless you are referring to Chicken Salad and there is No such thing as a Chicken Burger ! It's a Chicken Sandwich ! Burgers are always made with Ground Beef Patties !!!!
Those biscuits are overcooked big time. If you put them in the microwave for like 20 seconds they will get softer. We eat the biscuits with either honey, butter, or jam
In texas we dont get deluxe chicken sandwiches at popeyes. The offers are regular, spicy and seasonal. No veg, just sauce butter and pickle. Or whatever comes on the seasonal
“Koo-jun” is craazy 🤣
That was fun. Just found you guys. American here, not that it should matter, but I can tell you you that experimenting with different dips and bites and mixing it up, especially as a southerner, is definitely the way to find your specific happy spot. And once you find it, it's yours and yours alone.
It’s Cajun (KAY-jen). Also, it’s not a burger unless it has hamburger in it. It’s a chicken sandwich.
Fatt’s accent makes her say, “I like raunch,” instead of ranch. 😂
Great reaction y’all. ♥️
HEY DUMMY ! There is NO such thing as a Hamburger Meat ! It’s Ground BEEF ! And there is NO such thing as a Hamburger ! They are just BURGERS ! There is NO Damn HAM in them and Never was! Just Ground BEEF ! The Hamburg Steak originated in Hamburg, Germany! It's a Thick Ground Beef Steak patty cooked and topped with a brown onion mushroom gravy. The Original American style Burger & Cheeseburger originated at a Truck Stop Cafe in Athens, Tx in 1898 by a man named Uncle Dave Fletcher who introduced it at the State Fair in St.Louis, Mo in 1904 ! And if the Bacon came from a Pig born, raised, butchered and processed in Canada, then one could call it Canadian Bacon, butt actually it's a type of Ham !
Firstly, that biscuit was overcooked. They aren't supposed to be hard like that.
Second, we don't dip our biscuits in brown gravy (well, some might, but that's not really "a thing" that most do). If you're looking for the traditional southern biscuits and gravy, that's a breakfast thing, and it's with white gravy, not brown.
The biscuits at Popeye's we generally eat with either grape jam or honey.
EDITED TO ADD: @11:07 If you're going to do a pickle taste test. You gotta try Mt. Olive brand dill pickles. They are THE BEST (and the only brand I buy).
We have jars of dill pickles with pickles the size of huge cucumbers. I LOVE AMERICA. we have the best foods in the World.
It's wild to me, that even with internet, Brits don't understand that ground meat=Burger, Non ground meat=sandwich
A biscuit is a type of bread. It is similar to a scone but without anything in it such as fruit. Also it is very soft compared to a scone. Usually we put butter in it. Some people will do butter and jelly (Jam).
The way you pronounce Cajun has me cracking up
I love when y’all are drunk on food 😂 The personalities come out and it’s great
So nice you all are getting some American food in the UK. It must be amazing to try things we have had for years if not decades in the states.
Unfortunately, some of their "American" food won't taste American because certain factors like their laws on their food ingredients.
Mardis Gras Mustard is my go-to sauce when I hit up a Popeye's. That's saying something considering my favorite dipping sauce is Ranch.
They are not burgers, they are SANDWICHES, SANDWICHES!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!😤😤😤
That biscuit was definetly over done and way to hard....probably would've been better if eaten right away...and with honey...they usuaually ask if you want honey with your biscuits. 😊
Watching you try so-called "Southern biscuits and gravy" (not the right biscuits and gravy) for the first time was quite painful. You should try 'Outsider Tart' by David Muniz in London for the real deal, that will blow your minds!
ranch and buffalo sauce are like yin and yang. i like to eat them together. red beans and rice is my favorite side. you have to stir it first then add hot sauce. like franks or louisiana hot sauce. we call burgers, burgers because it is a ground up mixture of the meat and not a slab. slabs or sliced meat are sandwiches
I live in NYC and y'all got me wanting some Popeyes right now☺️.
Easy home home made Bisquits, heavy cream + self rising flour mix slightly sticky, butter a pan roll them up and flat them and cook 15+ minutes around 450-500 degrees.
the close up at 8:15 had me dying with laughter... lost in the chicken lol
Man you two should’ve been doing this for a while. One of the best video from you guys. Popeyes is one of the better fast food joints around. You two would love Zaxbys and checkers. Lots of good fried chicken places here. Cheers from Philly
Green chili chicken cheese Enchiladas, sopapillas (don’t mess up the soaps with honey, or sugar ) , red pulled pork tamales with green chili stew
Love this! Wrong about the honey though, sorry. I'd add a Stufy to the list too, get a few every time I'm in Abq
We have a New Mexican in the house! ❤💚🌶️
@@donovantso hahahaha
I love green chili chicken enchiladas. Except I have them flat. Not rolled. With a over easy egg on top.
@ eggs good add
Chicken burgers! Kills me! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There is NO such thing as a Chicken Burger !!! It's a Chicken Sandwich ! Burgers are always made with Ground Beef Patties !!!
Try WENDY'S triple burger and chocolate frosty. If they have popcorn chicken, try that as well.
I spent a decade in Baton Rouge Louisiana, Popeyes all over town. my go to was the 3 piece spicy meal with mashed potatoes & gravy, red beans and rice with a biscuit of course. Great videos guys.
LOL! It's KAY-jun. But thanks for doing this try guys!!!! Love your channel always!
Guys, glad you liked it. Generally, here in the states the Mac has a toasty crust on top that adds to the flavor. and the chicken burgers, you should try the spicy burger instead of the deluxe. The wings and tenders should be dunked completely in the buffalo sauce then into the ranch for full flavor. And the gravy doesn't look like the gravy in the states. All are just suggestions. Can't wait to see you come here and try it down south. Enjoy.
Been with y’all since almost the beginning, it’s so cool to watch you guys enjoy something that is one of my all-time favorites. Popeyes is the best.
For some crazy reason, that was entertaining to watch. Have a great day.
You guys missed out on the red beans and rice!! Which is actually excellent!
In America, we call it a chicken sandwich, a burger is always made from beef.
Any ground meat is a burger
not true, its not always only beef. the key is the meat is ground (or minced as the brits call it) it can ground turkey, bison, venison, elk burgers etc
Yep, English speaking people from different countries use English words differently.
@@-EchoesIntoEternity-veggie burgers as well.
@@Syzygy77 The burger/sandwich thing isn't just using words differently though. Burger has a specific meaning and the way Europeans use it, is incorrect. It would be like Americans calling crepes pancakes. Similar but not the same, and incorrect.
Blackened tenders with sweer heat sauce and popcorn shrimp with Blackened ranch are 2 of my favorites
Fats : “go on take that big bite yeaaa” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Popeyes is hit or miss where I am, but there are four (maybe five) in my city. When it is good, it is really good. When it's bad, most of the food tastes old, almost stale. It doesn't happen frequently, but it happens enough to make me cautious about going to two certain locations. You haven't gotten the true Popeyes experience unless they mess up your order. The ones here are bad about that. I don't even bither with the drive-thru anymore because it happens a lot. I go inside, order it to go, and check at the counter. Inevitably, they miss either a side item, or a requested sauce. Glad y'all enjoyed it. Try some honey on the biscuits (better if they are warm).
Who is Coojohn? 😂 lol great video yall
🤣🤣I came here to the comments as soon as he said that.
😂😂😂...I always eat Popeye's, but I never eat the biscuits, I view them as strictly ornamental. Everything else is fabulous!
Gravy is what makes a biscuit taste delicious!!
From Seattle , WA
NOT SURE what it is, but as of recently I’m infatuated with watching Brit’s try American food, they are super funny, and I’ll be honest they are much nicer than my stereo types led me to believe. Like I actually want to hang out with you guys!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
You can eat biscuits anytime of the day. However, usually it s prepare in the morning for breakfast You can put butter in the middle of the biscuit ,any flavor jelly and honey.
It seems ranch sauce goes with just about everything. Dipping pizza crust is good with ranch, Buffalo wings goes well with ranch too.
Just so you know, the chicken is supposed to be golden brown, NOT DARK, that location is use OLD OIL WHICH IS BURNT, the oil is to be changed WEEKLY, not nasty like what you are tasting 😢😢😢
“Cajun Sparkle” is the greatest hidden gem. Every time I grab a few extra packs to take home…. Iykyk
I save them and season my baked chicken with it.👍🏾
I love this channel. Gonna watch full video after Texas and Georgia game
That biscuit may have been cooked too long. Biscuits usually go with white gravy that has old that good stuff added to it.
We split the biscuits and make either a jelly or honey sandwich here in Florida, honey and hot sauce is fie AF on the chicken as well.
Great video you 2..
5:51 All Americans are weeping because you dipped those biscuits into brown gravy.🤣 That is the wrong gravy, sausage gravy is white and is an entirely different thing. Those biscuits are over cooked as well, they shouldn't be that crunchy.
Popeyes is the only fast food I eat on a regular basis. I eat it at least once a week. 😋 They used to have Jambalaya which was absolutely great all by itself. Unfortunately, they discontinued it. 😢
"Im a fried chicken guy" while biting into a chicken tender has to be the most European move ever 🤣🤣
Bonus PSA - If it doesnt have a beef hamburger patty it isnt a burger, just a sandwich. Love your content though yall!
Been with y’all since almost the beginning, it’s so cool to watch you guys enjoy something that is one of my all-time favorites. Popeyes is the best. Oh and if you have, honey, honey is the best on the biscuit
Honestly prefer the chicken and biscuits from Church's over Popeyes
It's a chicken sandwich . Burgers are beef . Those are chicken tenders or fingers. Fried chicken is still on the bone. I love Popeyes, but it's getting pricey. The other day, it cost me 33.00 for an 8 piece, 2 large sides that weren't so large, and 1 drink.
You two are great! Thanks for the review. Try the spicy wings sometime.
That biscuit was burned. A biscuit isn't supposed to crunch when bitten.
I keep seeing Nicki Minaj.Love you guys videos, keep them coming!
Definitely try putting a serving of each thing on a plate.
They are better if eaten all together.
And ice tea is a must.
Great job 👏
Love you two. As an American from the South who can’t cook squat, I rely on Popeye’s for my fast food fried chicken fix. Love to see it making it into the UK! ❤️
Wendy's. A Dave's double with fries and you've got to do a Frosty. Also, make sure there's a Baconator in that bag too!
Baconator rules!
You have to dip the fries in the Frosty.
Son of baconator if you want to lie to yourself and say “i’m being healthier” then get 2…
When that chicken SANDWICH came out there were lines and flights around here from people trying to get one. The damn things just good.
You guys are my fav British ppl definitely should visit America sometime
Also, do keep in mind, when most Americans dip things, we’re not proper, double dipping is allowed and you need to dip all the way down till you cant anymore, especially with ranch lmao.
Great video guys❤. Ignore the usless people in the comments making pointless comments
In America it's called a Chicken Sandwich Ain't no such thing as a Chicken Burger in the states
Actually there is a chicken burger. It’s ground chicken patty on a bun. You don’t see it often.
@@GP80888 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 It's a SANDWICH !! NOT A BURGER !!!!

Next time ask for honey for the biscuit.
"Hey" from the Tampa Bay area of Florida, USA. Hope y'all doing well.
Enjoyed ya reaction to Popeye's video. I ain't a big time fast food sorta person, was for most of my life but eat a bit different these days, but when it comes to fast food chicken I agree it is dang good. If ya eat the food again I'd suggest trying some of the multiple sauces they have available even though the chicken is great without sauce. Here in Florida there are 15 different flavors of sauce. Some good. Some bad. Some OK, but usually selecting good is the route to go.
Anyhoo, enjoyed the video and suggest ya continue creating content.
Have fun and be safe. :)
That is not the way the Original Buttermilk Biscuit is supposed to look!! You should have returned it. That Biscuit was Burnt, sometimes the Quality depends on the Location and who cooked it. Trust me as great as their chicken is the Buttermilk Biscuit's were their greatest asset when cooked right. When cooked right their moist, fluffy, light colored and full of flavor.✌❤🙏
For the BEST Chicken Tenders anywhere in the U.S. , go to Cheddars Restaurant ! Second to them is Bush's Fried Tenders ! , then Popeyes and then Church's Fried Tenders !!
You guys don't understand the struggle of having to wait over an hour for your food with only 2 people in front of you in line 😂
What cracks me up is this:
There isn’t a single thing on that table that’s unusual in the UK.
1) they HAVE chickens… and every one of those chickens have wings.
2) flour. England has flour… and baking soda, for that matter.
3) milk. We KNOW there are cows in Great Britain!
4) salt, pepper, garlic salt, lettuce, cheese, macaroni… everything.
How is it the Brits haven’t discovered how to arrange it all so that it’s tasty? What are they doing? Did the King ban flavor in the entire kingdom? 😆
blackened ranch with the spicy recipe chicken is always the way to go
I lived in LA for 9 years, and LOVE Popeyes.
I moved back to Northern Michigan to take care of my mom in 2018. There's no Popeyes near me. There's no good fried chicken near me. The local KFC has "chicken" the size of Cornish hens. The KFC app doesn't even claim our local location... says there's none near me.
During the covid shutdowns, I drove 6 hours (round trip) to go to the nearest Popeyes. Every time I go near one, I buy at least $60 (USD) and freeze some when I get back.
You can also put butter and honey on biscuits.
My favorite item from Popeyes. Is the strawberry cheesecake hand pie. Fried in the same oil so it tastes like chicken. Although its so damn expensive now. I rarely go now.
Coojon fries… what dat is? lol 🍻
Popeyes sandwich is bomb , spicy or regular. That biscuit was overcooked
oh man if you do american pickle reviews, PLEASE get the claussen Kosher Dills!!! Those pickles are HEAVENLY!!
I haven't had Popeyes in about a year so far due to the pricing . An 8pc Signature box is like $30 in Newport News VA. But I can go get a 26 ounce porterhouse steak dinner for the same price which is way more protein and more filling . How Chicken is so freaking high in price right now is insane .
I have watched 10 British Popeyes reviews and none of them have tried the red beans and rice. This is their signature side dish that encompasses the true flavor of Creole cuisine. So, the order should be 2-piece meal (breast and leg), red beans and rice with a Biscuit and honey on the side (for the biscuit).
You two should do a video on how you met or something like that. Love the videos, keep it up you two! 😁
Should have gotten the Mardi-Gras mustard dipping sauce and I love the red beans and rice
Love it when they say raunch instead of raaanch.
Gravy goes well on the chick and mashed potato's. Should try a southern style 4/5 cheese machine n cheese bake
The best is to eat everything as hot as possible. In other words, eat it right after you get your food at Popeye's. That makes a huge difference.
Myself and most people i know in America hate pickles on sandwiches but i also know alot of people that like pickles by themselves
The biscuits should have been soft, and better when fresh. Ask for the honey to put on biscuits and chicken. The 'Cajun Sparkle' spice blend is good to sprinkle on chicken as well.
I am not certain if your store offers red beans and rice as a side, they should as it is one of their best side. It is definitely a popular Louisiana dish. The biscuit was overdone, an the chicken sandwich should have had pickles a spicy mayo a chicken breast and the bun. I am also guessing you chose the mild version of the chicken, and sandwich. Try the spicy its flavor is amazing.
