There's a fairly large content drop coming at the beginning of next month. It'll offer new weapons, enemies, progression, consumables, and supposedly a new area and boss. I'd stay tuned~
The shooting design reminds me a lot of destiny, always happy to see a game putting the solid destiny gunplay into a game that actually isn't a soulless live service game
I think the animation for hunger is just a carbon copy of the animation for destiny Handcanons , im not gonna complain about that though. Dont fix what ain't broken I think the saying goes.
This video kinda sold me on the game. I think it might scratch the same itch that Destiny does. I've seen other comments be confused about this comparison so let me explain: In boomer shooters you're constantly moving fast and spraying bullets, while enemies attack you either in melee or through projectiles that you can dodge, and you gain health back with healing items. Military shooters are generally slower and more methodical with a focus on ironsights aiming and landing headshots where you can. Enemies there have hitscan weapons which makes it impossible to avoid all damage, so you have regenerating health and you're forced to hide from enemies from time to time in order to wait for it to kick in. What is special about Destiny is that when you're on the offensive it's like a military shooter with ironsights aiming, but when you're on the defensive all enemies are either melee or have projectile attacks so you can dodge them. The game also has regenerating health just in case, but a lot of the time I didn't need it. Destiny is my favorite FPS because it's this perfect blend of weaving and dodging projectiles, and then I can still pull up a handcannon, aim down sights to line up my next shot, and get that perfect headshot, enhanced by the huge audio and visual feedback you get on landing that shot. This game seems to be going for the same thing. Melee and projectile based enemies keep you on the move and give you room for skillfully avoiding damage without having to break line of sight. The weapons are all hitscan, have ironsights aiming, and you get critical hits on headshots. It even has the magical powers (and double jumping at the last second to avoid damage)! I've always wished there were more FPS games that followed the hybrid model of Destiny. Particularly in the FPS roguelike space, where most games go for more of a boomer shooter or imsim approach.
I really did like the combat of the game. Many players think it's a little difficult (I'm on their Discord), but personally I think it nails the difficulty level to be challenging but not super frustrating. You can get overwhelmed by enemies through no fault of your own, but fighting your way out of an unlucky situation has created some of the more memorable moments in the game for me. You definitely have moments of going aggressive and playing defensive in this game. You work around your spells, the enemies present and obviously your weapons too.
Love the explanation on what and how each shooter genre plays. Thanks for that. I'm not a fan of Destiny because it's an online only game. The ideas for that game was good, but I don't like the fact that it's online only, where you need a team to beat bosses. In a single player campaign game, you can beat the bosses by yourself, or if there is a co-op option? a friend can join you if they want to of course, make the game more fun and easier. Basically, Bungee messed up by making Destiny online only. If there was an offline campaign mode, I would agree with everything that you said. Remember, Halo was Offline. Still though, I will agree with you that Destiny has very good gameplay, I do like the interesting world design and the team base gameplay but, I still can't get over the fact that it's online only. So when servers shut down, that's it for the game. It's gone. I won't be able to enjoy the game in the future with my kids because the game will be gone forever.
Glad you're branching out and doing more content that you're into! I enjoy your approach to the review - the game looks interesting and once it hits Steam I will wishlist it. Great discussion on "I'd rather it work great than be spotlessly beautiful". A solid, but underappreciated, take!
Not a game for me, but I appreciate the review and am commenting to support your non-FFXIV work. I especially appreciate that you said the graphics are a bit low res but it runs solidly - I'd much rather have that than boring games with poor performance and 4K hyper-realistic textures. It shows that the developers have the right priority going forward.
Correction on the calamity event that you mentioned: If it spawns on the other side of the map, you are not screwed and you do not have to run to it in order to survive. It will spawn a random challenge that you can alternatively complete at your own location to stop the event, such as killing 15 horde enemies before the time runs out etc.
Looks very interesting. I love the atmosphere of games like demon's souls/dark souls/elden ring and pain killer. However, unfortunately i dont have a beast pc to run it. Therefore my question: will this also be released on Geforce now or the PS5? Thanx in advance!
I want this game in Spanish, and also with new added enemies like werewolves & some Frankenstein monsters in it, some flying enemies like shape shifting crow deaths, I will also want some new abilities like summoning more characters & some spikes from the ground..
One thing you did not mention was that every time you level up a stat, new enemies, events and traps start appearing on the map. That basically means, as you get stronger, the game becomes harder.
Have been looking forward to this since it was announced. However on just learning it's roguelike, I don't know what to think. I only played one roguelike and could not complete the game. Have not touched another one since.
The cricket is by far my favorite weapon. You get a free reload by dashing after a kill from second mysterium then third mysterium gives you a damage boost every time you consecutively get a kill and dash and it stacks so if you strategize you can use little enemies to build your damage and then melt the big guys
Great video, but I have a question, you mention that there are 2 maps available, do you treat hermitorium as a map in this video? If yes, I think this might be a bit misleading, as hermitorium isn't really playable, it's more like a elaborate menu than an actual map. I am asking in case there is actually a second playable map (excluding hermitorium) and the game bugged for me, not showing it. I highly doubt that tho, as it appears that all of your footage is either from hermitorium or that first environment with a mill.
Let me begin by saying that I have played all games that are considered hard, from old games like Nightmare Creatures and Tenchu, to Ninja Gaiden and Souls games. I feel that Witchfire takes the cheap/bullshit way to be difficult. Every modifier on the map works against you, the calamities, the warden, the mushrooms. Also, fights are not really rewarding. You kill a bunch of enemies only to drop a key that will give you two feathers 90% of the time. But what is a deal breaker for me, is that you lose the Arcana when you get back without dying. Finally, even though I absolutely love the weapons, I hate that enemies don't follow the same rules mechanically as you. If you hit someone from afar you will deal 3 damage while they will obliterate you. The All Seeing Eye is also terrible, too slow, no good damage in long range.
How come you are starting the video saying that the game released "out of" early access a few days ago, but to all of the sources I can find the game is still in early access.
I've been excited to get it since it was teased. Got it when it released for EA. Played it a few days and returned it. Want to get the full experience first rather then doing the limited features and then waiting for updates /;

That is no longer true. The devs have recently put out an article stating that the enemies do not get stronger as you level. When you level, the distribution of enemies will change, but they won't be stronger. For your playstyle some distributions might be easier though. The only thing that actually affects difficulty is your Gnosis level. So if you want an easier time, you can farm some levels before raising your Gnosis level.
I think you should correct the "...released out of early access..." because I thought the game was already 1.0, to find it's still IN early access. I think you should've instead said "...released IN early access..."
I'm convinced they designed this game for me specifically. It has every mechanic I love and none that I hate. Stamina was annoying at first but keeping an eye on it in the chaos is fun.
i'm trying the beta, and look VERY repetitive, going to the same map over and over again, not to mention that we get out of ammo really quick. i was hoping it to be more like metro exodus, farcry, i mean, not a linear gaem, but this looks more like vermintide on smaller maps. i was very excited from first images, reminded me a lot of painkiller (same developers) and hoped to be like it, but not linear, im desapointed after playing it for 30 minutes.

Yes, but if the developers (here in the case 12) do not get any money because everyone runs to key sites, people do not have to wonder that they only get shit put in front of them. I also do not mind where I play what.
The first area was thought out well. The second area is complete ass to play. The area where it blocks you off and makes you fight 50 swordsmen before you can continue is a definite no for me. So boring to have to do this every time you want to play the map. So you're stuck playing the first map over and over gah.. it just sucks.

It also came out on EGS. Games releasing there may as well not release at all when it comes to online awareness.
I love dark fantasy rpg fps’. Always looking for new ones to play. Any got some recs?

You said you are getting around 170 fps with the rtx 3070ti, right? Is that on 1440p or 1080p? Thanks for the vid btw!
Looks great, when it comes to steam Ill give it a try.

this looks awesome. but no third person view? Unfortunately, slight motion sickness. Loved the small title Starfield with the POV switch
first person is better for realistic look and approach ı guess
Great review!
Thank you for this video man
Will our progress during early access carry over to the final build of the game or are they planning reset?
unless they change something major, i'd assume they'd just let you keep all your progress and keep progressing as content comes out.
I remember at first being super excited for this because I thought it had a normal campaign.
Great video, but I have a question, you mention that there are 2 maps available, do you treat hermitorium as a map in this video? If yes, I think this might be a bit misleading, as hermitorium isn't really playable, it's more like a elaborate menu than an actual map.
