Two company bring in healthy competition and bring in awareness, in saving the planet it also brings savings to the customers,... the E.L.F. did bring in the customers to this field & interest to the people
@No lives 4 that matter That's where the hemp comes in. You get real high and think an 8K death trap is a good thing. They should give one to Alexandra Ostigo Cortizone so she can make your gas guzzling CO2 producing evil pickup truck illegal and save the planet or the wales or whatever she thinks we can save if we listen to her.
The mitigating circumstance is that you have no auto insurance. Just homeowner's and health insurance. I would have to use this with Lo Jack for eight thousand. I would have to think about mirrors like a car too. If you have isolated rail to trails like in Central Florida, I would feel comfortable riding in one.
Excellent video, thanks for posting, much appreciated. Developing nations such as the Philippines need a slightly bigger more powerful PEBL. Outstanding invention and I salute your efforts. A+
Me and the hubby have an ELF, this here looks superior to the elf in many ways including the addition to an attachable door for bad weather. Once this goes into production me and the hubby may very well be replacing our elf.
So what good is an optional heater when you have no floor in the front to accommodate the pedals? Where I live there are days in the winter you wouldn't make it 6 blocks at -40. No sales here for sure.
batlin yes that was my first thought as here in Cornwall, UK we have sooooO many drunks and people off their face on drugs this would be targeted as a means to getting their next fix
This is cool, does anyone know if they plan on incorporating a solar system to charge the battery in the future? That's a feature I really like about the elf. You literally don't have to plug it in ever.
+Blue Moon Anarchy we do offer an optional 120w solar panel, however for most people it is more cost effective to go with a larger battery. If you live in a southern state solar is the way to go. If you don't, upgrading your battery will give you more range for the money.
They are kind of a death trap . I own an elf and To the extent that cars have to slow down, pass safely and then speed up past these on the road is the extent that they also waste fuel & cause pollution. They should at least be able to keep up with traffic in 25 mph if not 35 mph zones to avoid all of the pollution and gas-guzzling that is going to be created by cars having to slow then press their accelerators to get by these things. Companies like Outrider build a much more harmonious vehicle with traffic because they're a little bit faster, like cars, therefore flow much better with cars. I own both and that's my opinion.
Ok, the vehicle itself is SUPER expensive, but think about it: -no insurance -no gas costs -no taxes (at least here in Italy, don't know how it works abroad) -no stress -It's healthier I'd love to see a city filled with those things instead of cars
I did not do well with the ELF primarily because one must know how to tweek it pretty continually. I need something that is exceedingly simple to maintain. Also I managed to roll it (my fault but very scary since I'm already disabled). As soon as someone produces an ELF like vehicle that I don't need to worry about tightening this that or the other, I'm trying again.
Technically you are wrong, there are a lot of ways we could clean up the pollution on the planet in a way it wont effect us so much, it would just kill off a lot of other species, such as dumping iron into the ocean to raise its iron content by about 7% and sectioning off an area the size of roade island and using it as a landfill and ten using the gasses it lets off as natural gas, but there are moral issues with that lol
More people would be on board to make the environment safer and cleaner if the alternative things that comes out would be more affordable. That's why I don't take it seriously because it seems to me that people are out to make a quick buck.
love this idea, only it not Being fully closed at the bottom would not make it favorable to let it it outside because of critters moving in.i would definately buy this!
The floor of the pedal area actually has inserts that slip into the holes to make the PEBL fully enclosed. As far as critters, we have not had a single problem yet. Just don't leave food in it!
Soo $300 for two bikes, a $160 1800 watt electric motor. $300 in batteries. Will say $100 in other various parts. Roughly $1000 for a build it your self electric trike with way more power.
@@thenmozhisivakumar9618 it actually is, I have knee problems, I can't even walk more than 200 meters without tears in my eyes. But pedaling is really fine for your joints. Greetings
I do like the idea of it with extra storage space. But, as most people might agree it is a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Too slow ( improve to about 35mph & 20 miles & is a bit on the short side on distance from a of a full charge. & possibly travel up to 30+ miles. This might alter the weight ( add extra weight) by putting more powerful motor in it & a longer charging time. That's my own personal opinion about it. But, others may or may not agree.
Ahh, the first of the ELF clones. ;-) I'm only teasing but you had better be ready to hear that a lot, because between the body shape, same general over all dimensions and what looks like a passingly similar frame design, it's really really close. (this isn't a knock, any vehicle in this area faces the same basic limitations and design considerations.) From what I've seen, what makes it better then the Organic Transit ELF? Fully enclosed 2 seater standard Optional heater Cruise control 8 speed standard (only 3 on the ELF standard, that's far to few for it's weight) it has reverse!!! no more Flintstone-ing to back up. an actual rear hatch with gas supports much better price ~$5.5-6.5k (the ELF has jumped in price to $8-9k for the 2FR 2 seater model) Down side? Solar panel is an option and non standard It's heavy @~200 lbs, on a human powered vehicle weight is you worst enemy. ..... and that's about it. I wish you luck, we need more vehicles like it and the ELF.
Where do I fit my St Bernard to take her swimming or go 200 miles to visit my sister, this kind of stuff is for an incredibly small group of hippies, just buy the Renault Twizzy and have done
All I have to say is look at how much you spend on that four wheel automobile with its insurance, fuel and maintenance. Then look at how much this lacks and maybe you can see how little maintenance it needs only costing a few hundred a year to keep maintained.
Price-price-price! I may get one if the price is reasonable since there are many other options to evaluate. Why not offer this in a basic kit sent in a box and have the hemp shell as an option to keep the cost down? If the weather is that bad then I may stay home, Uber a ride, or drive my car to work/run errands.
In Texas, some idiot would just smash this with a car, or more likely a gigantic suv. Sure it's visible. Someone would hit it anyway. They are that stupid. Probably wouldn't happen the first day, but if you used it daily for substantial commuting or utility, it would happen eventually. This vehicle should be our transportation future, downsized and efficient. But investors make money on the system as it is, and that system will literally smash you if you go out in this, and nobody will do anything about it. It's not a trivial problem. The engineering is trivial, and the marketing would be too because people want this, but not if it means putting your life in the hands of inattentive motorists all day long.
@@juniorxranger I take it she is not a cyclist. And I'm guessing you aren't, either, since she'd probably not want to hit anyone who reminded her of you. But if you're here, maybe you're thinking differently. Yay for that.
i am ony 10 and i have to save up 2750 australian dollars to get this cuz my parents r gonna pay the rest but i really really want it and i think it will be a sustainable future and does it ship to australia?
+ScarySenpai that's amazing! Unfortunately we do not ship to Australia yet, but keep in the loop because over the next year we may start shipping globally. Shipping will be expensive just to let you know. Glad to know that younger generations believe in our goal as well!
+martiebaby well the PEBL is a two seater, just only one person can pedal at a time. We thought about that though but decided that it would be way to wide to be practical.
I was thinking the exact same thing. The PEBL looks very light. Perhaps light enough that 2 people could just lift the thing into the back of a pickup truck.
Pebl? So it´s named after one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns ever, the Pebble? Or is it just a coincidence? Apart from that, it looks really nice! I really like the fact that you can close out rain and wind.
+Martin Ottosson just a coincidence! We knew about the watch but it was not an inspiration. PEBL is not an acronym, we just like the name and thought it was fitting.
Bishank Agrawal compared to what? A really good bike will run you about $1000-$2000. A good electric bike will run 3-4K. A motorcycle or car well that has a wider range but you would have to compare a new one because you would be buying this new. You also have to factor in registration, maintenance, coast of storage or daily parking, instant loss of value, and gas. All of that has to be factored in.
These are also AMERICAN MADE !!! Stop being cheap and supporting China. They are constantly stealing the American dollar while offering you a substandard product.
Not useful in many communities in the USA: To get to my workplace, I'd have to drive on the shoulder of highways, not all the way to work, but for certain stretches. We have bike lanes, but not enough for people to actually commute in various directions around the metro area. It would only take a few times doing that before I'd get KILLED. I also notice a HUGE, and seemingly unnecessary, blindspot to the sides of the windshield on this thing.
It's nice, of course it is. It's so strange that there are so few good easy options for protecting a biker against the rain. I mean something small, rolled up in the handlebar, saddle, helmet that combined, clicked together give you some protection against the most of the rain. It could be something like a fine gauze (or netting?) that let's air pass ( but not the droplets) so it's doesn't capture enough wind to make you unstable. I am a lousy and lazy inventor or I would make something myself.
Hi Popeye. Firstly, we are starting production as we speak so we're finally getting up and running! Next as we're sure you know, you have a significant advantage of living in Florida. Most Americans do not and thus we have determined that a solar panel should be an option rather than a standard. Instead we offer a larger standard battery of 16ah (768wh). Our optional panel is 110w, thus our panel in full sun takes around 7 hours to charge (768/110=6.9) So yes, for a Floridian solar makes sense, but in the majority of the US it does not. In the summer the PEBL's doors can roll up as seen in the video. As we also explained, wen you do this you get a cool breeze while your riding. In short, the PEBL can be just as open as the ELF. You're right, there are 800+ ELFs on the road according to OT, but from what we've heard from many ELF customers is far from your experience. We have taken recommendations from all velomobile owners along our design process and as a result, the PEBL is here.
Popeye we all know your insane love and overly defensive stance of anything negative about the elf. Not sure why you troll so much on the Pebl videos. There are differences I have rode many different Velos and the elf and Pebl are not Velos they are pedal cars at best. You could call them a human assisted electric vehicle. With that said when researching both the Elf and Pebl for my next bike purchase the Pebl won out for me, because of several different factors. Also spoke to several elf owners. Compared to the options and builds of the Elf I felt the Pebl was a better option. Again this is a matter of opinion, but If people have the opinion of the Pebl being a better option your statements of opinions and assumptions are probably not helping win people over to the Elf. Just my opinion though.
Seems Popeye should come with a disclaimer, he shows up every time someone mentions ELF and claims it is the greatest thing in existence. I wouldn't be surprised if he is their main PR guy.
MsSomeonenew let's not mention that if the Elf is so great why is there not more content saying such? The only real review of the Elf was done by blue monkey after living with it for a year. Now I do see some issues with that review, but they bring up good points as well. The other reviews are from people who ride it for a half hour. There is a guy that "debunks" the blue monkey review who seems to have NEVER rode an elf (or a velomobile) and has disabled comments.
Perhaps you folks would consider updating your video? It would be nice to see the production vehicle showcased with options and colors, if you wouldn't mind me suggesting it. :)
Maurice games add in the cost of insurance, gas, maintenance, depending on where you live/work cost of parking, and maybe a stretch but health care or gym cost to make up for the lack of exercise you would get in the pebl. All that together your in far less with a Pebl then any new car.
Popeye Gordon so if you went with the 110 watt panel the pebl comes in at $6350.00. That also includes doors, peddle wells, fabric interior, room for passenger, USB charger, reverse, and fully inclosed all included of course. One thing that the Elf has on the Pebl at this point is turn time to receive the bike. Don't know how long it takes to get the Pebl but quoted time was about 3 months but I don't think they will hit that starting up. We shall see haven't heard from them since ordering. Ether it is great to have more then one option for people to choose from.
Popeye Gordon how do you know they will not make a profit? Are you their accountant, or is this an assumption on your part? Maybe the elfs price is inflated and they are wanting to make to much of a profit. Maybe the Pebl is ok with making a little less profit if it means more Pebls on the road.
Popeye Gordon not sure what video your talking about. But agree with a carbon tax. Just watched Bikes vs. Cars on Netflix and it is fascinating. The you have Musk that wants to start a drilling co. to elevate congestion on roads. Happy for the electric vehicle but that still has a high carbon footprint then an elf or a Pebl.
In a perfect world , this is awesome ! But it's probably going to be too expensive, and that wreckless, buzzed, impatient bastard in a car/ truck is not going to see or respect the wider space needed, and bang, you're now a dead hood ornament.. maybe it should come with a biodegradable Eco- concious coffin..
This thing has the footprint of a small car. If they want to share the road with cars then they should have to be plated registered and require insurance.
By that logic we experience an arm's race in vehicle size and soon we are all driving Caterpillar 797s. Can you construct your pro-safety argument in such a way that it doesn't spiral up to infinity?
I really want to like this. Having a love affair with cycling on and off for several years, Ive learned quite a lot about self propulsion and these types of vehicles are so limited by terrain and weather (wind) that affording a car like price for one will keep many people from buying one, that being said I wish you good luck and I hope you find your niche
Put a solar panel on the roof. That will make that it charges the battery and makes that you can go further. Makes it also less reliable on a place to charge the battery.
Lot of grumbling over price! No feel for R&D, or tooling for manufacture. I wonder, having a cheep Chinese household solar panel, could your rig accept such a modification for sunny days? Also, curious if there is any plan for a “hard” door? The local riff raff are merciless on bicycles and rag tops, the vandalism does not stop with theft, but vindictive acts of sabotage. Best of luck in this worthy enterprise!
Using this instead of cars will be better for the country for the U.S Decrease obesity Less pollution No pay gas money Less fatal or severe injuries of wreckage
I love this concept. I've always dreamt of a bike with a dicky (rear room above the wheels) . But a question looms large: how do you suppose the owner drags this bike up a steep road. Can it be lifted easily? Can it be put together as easily as it broke when it hit something?
That's awesome, i hope this is the future of transportation. However, 2 Things: good luck when you get into a collision in that thing, and also goddamm that price!
This should be the main type of transportation. It is healthy, practical, no contaminant, I really like it👍
It should be $1500

problem with these is you never make them affordable to the average person. This is probably going to be in the $4,000-$6,000 range
My only criticism is that the front end view doesn't look so hot. I think it could use a redesign / rework. My 2cents.
Need one that's covered all around the pedals underneath, so roadkill won't spatter onto a biker. Sigh...
9 grand U.S. for an E-trike with a fairing, $400 for a heater, $500 for a windshield wiper. Are you guys high?
It's all that fuckin hemp
There is a floor its removable.
I totally need one of those for my journey!
20,000+ miles so far.
This looks great, just hard to imagine parking one on the street here without vandals trashing it.
Or carjackers.

Looking forward to the new video. I like what I've seen so far. Much success to you.
"To get a cool breeze." Here in Houston the ambient in summer is over 100F on the streets!
Too big for the bike lane or bike path. Too slow for the vehicle lane. No impact safety. Looks like a death trap to me
Its a win-win situation
They are kind of a death trap . I own an elf and To the extent that cars have to slow down, pass safely and then speed up past these on the road is the extent that they also waste fuel & cause pollution. They should at least be able to keep up with traffic in 25 mph if not 35 mph zones to avoid all of the pollution and gas-guzzling that is going to be created by cars having to slow then press their accelerators to get by these things. Companies like Outrider build a much more harmonious vehicle with traffic because they're a little bit faster, like cars, therefore flow much better with cars. I own both and that's my opinion.
+J Clar yes, regular cars should be banned and the world would be a betterplace in many ways.
Agreed. Would def like a skinnier and cheaper one available!
Such a cool concept!
Best way to get around ( NO dealing with the DMV ) any questions about these devices fee free to ask
Also this isn't a new idea...A saw these things in Italy years ago. I'm pretty sure things like that exist for at least 20 years +
Ok, the vehicle itself is SUPER expensive, but think about it:
-no insurance
-no gas costs
-no taxes (at least here in Italy, don't know how it works abroad)
-no stress
-It's healthier
I'd love to see a city filled with those things instead of cars
I wish things like these were affordable
Say what? The ELF is considered a motorcycle in a few states and you'd better have insurance-at least liability.
Hey Popeye do you know which state that is?
Make one out of junk bikes. A TIG welder can be had for a few hundred dollars.
+MattOGormanSmith yep that's all you'll need...
Its likely ny,but just my guess.
I love this and sure wish I could afford to support. If I ever win the lottery this will be the first place I donate
Cheryl Armstrong by
I really would consider this, beautiful product. And you are heroes, we simply can't keep polluting at the current rate for another 100 years.
+Thomas Anton Geurts thank you so much! It's very true, that's why the PEBL exists! Imagine if there were government insensitives for the PEBL...
Thomas Anton Geurts
correct!
co2 isn't a pollutant tho'..... plants breath it.
better.bike
you'd be very rich!
Yeah, but cars are just more fun though. I'm sure this won't do 150mph through the forest or sound like 50 demons screaming an opera.
That's why I don't take it seriously because it seems to me that people are out to make a quick buck.
shouldn't range be unlimited while you pedal?
Very smart idea. Very useful for everyone. But expensive
love this idea, only it not Being fully closed at the bottom would not make it favorable to let it it outside because of critters moving in.i would definately buy this!
The floor of the pedal area actually has inserts that slip into the holes to make the PEBL fully enclosed. As far as critters, we have not had a single problem yet. Just don't leave food in it!
Daniel B
Not a cheap thing!
I'd rather have a normal bike!!!!!
Heck! You could buy an ACTUAL CAR with a starting price of 8300$!!!
Did you hear something about the factor of scale? If they could produce 500k units per year it would be much cheaper. But YOU prefer to buy a car...
And to not car anymore...
8000 thats just insane !!!
@David Laurance $1200 isn't a lot of money for an e-bike.
Joel Richard --- For 2-5k you could buy a very nice carbon road bike. So light that you barely feel the hills.
Excellent idea. That is perfect for me traveling from Whitby Ontario to Niagara Falls in this one.
Soo $300 for two bikes, a $160 1800 watt electric motor. $300 in batteries. Will say $100 in other various parts. Roughly $1000 for a build it your self electric trike with way more power.

(this isn't a knock, any vehicle in this area faces the same basic limitations and design considerations.)
From what I've seen, what makes it better then the Organic Transit ELF?
Fully enclosed
2 seater standard
Optional heater
Cruise control
8 speed standard (only 3 on the ELF standard, that's far to few for it's weight)
it has reverse!!! no more Flintstone-ing to back up.
an actual rear hatch with gas supports
much better price ~$5.5-6.5k (the ELF has jumped in price to $8-9k for the 2FR 2 seater model)
Down side?
Solar panel is an option and non standard
It's heavy @~200 lbs, on a human powered vehicle weight is you worst enemy.
..... and that's about it.
I wish you luck, we need more vehicles like it and the ELF.

Try to build one for yourself cheaper.
All I have to say is look at how much you spend on that four wheel automobile with its insurance, fuel and maintenance. Then look at how much this lacks and maybe you can see how little maintenance it needs only costing a few hundred a year to keep maintained.
Oh I want one of these ~ if only ....... I'd love them to be in UK and be cheap enough for students, and easy financing 💚
This is absolutely brilliant,am getting one👍
Let's Carmageddon begin! :D
@@juniorxranger I take it she is not a cyclist. And I'm guessing you aren't, either, since she'd probably not want to hit anyone who reminded her of you. But if you're here, maybe you're thinking differently. Yay for that.

PEBL sounds like the Fred Flinstone daughter. It makes secense, pedals, feet, rare shape car.
LOVE THIS, you DO need to make a two seater so two people can pedal at the same time.
+martiebaby well the PEBL is a two seater, just only one person can pedal at a time. We thought about that though but decided that it would be way to wide to be practical.
Martiebaby and better.bike, maybe one day there´ll be a slightly longer version to allow two to pedal as with the tandem cycle(?).
the problem with a lot of these velomobiles is how easy it is to steal...
I was thinking the exact same thing. The PEBL looks very light. Perhaps light enough that 2 people could just lift the thing into the back of a pickup truck.
Yeah I guess I would never ever owned one of these in San Francisco! For that reason and it really doesn't matter how good your bike lock is trust me
That and it’s a death trap
PEBL is not an acronym, we just like the name and thought it was fitting.
the thing is these things cost too much
Bishank Agrawal compared to what? A really good bike will run you about $1000-$2000. A good electric bike will run 3-4K. A motorcycle or car well that has a wider range but you would have to compare a new one because you would be buying this new. You also have to factor in registration, maintenance, coast of storage or daily parking, instant loss of value, and gas. All of that has to be factored in.
I
You could build your own.
These are also AMERICAN MADE !!! Stop being cheap and supporting China. They are constantly stealing the American dollar while offering you a substandard product.
@@ultralordd7625 Are there any videos of homemade 'PEBLS'?
Not useful in many communities in the USA: To get to my workplace, I'd have to drive on the shoulder of highways, not all the way to work, but for certain stretches. We have bike lanes, but not enough for people to actually commute in various directions around the metro area. It would only take a few times doing that before I'd get KILLED. I also notice a HUGE, and seemingly unnecessary, blindspot to the sides of the windshield on this thing.
Arcimoto looks like a PEBL-killer device.
It's nice, of course it is. It's so strange that there are so few good easy options for protecting a biker
against the rain. I mean something small, rolled up in the handlebar, saddle, helmet that combined,
clicked together give you some protection against the most of the rain. It could be something like a fine
gauze (or netting?) that let's air pass ( but not the droplets) so it's doesn't capture enough wind to make
you unstable. I am a lousy and lazy inventor or I would make something myself.
Looks far superior to the ELF
+Popeye Gordon nope ours are mechanical. We haven't any problems with cables. Are there any tight radiuses in your cable routing?
How about some onboard speakers and a 12 inch subwoofer? lol. Just kidding, an 8 inch sub would be fine...
Estos vehículos son la solución a la congestión vehícular, contaminación y sedentarismo. Felicito al fabricante!
Any idea what this will cost? Hopefully less that the Elf and less noisy?
Vitality Massage The PEBL costs $5950. And yes, the PEBL is less noisy due to a full cloth interior.
Happy for the electric vehicle but that still has a high carbon footprint then an elf or a Pebl.
this is so inspiring. i will be mass producing a similar version in Africa. trust and believe.

I love this concept. I've always dreamt of a bike with a dicky (rear room above the wheels) . But a question looms large: how do you suppose the owner drags this bike up a steep road. Can it be lifted easily? Can it be put together as easily as it broke when it hit something?
