    Good example of how growth changes when a tree gets out of a pot and into the ground. Doubled (or more) in size in less than a year.

      Yeah reminds me I still have 11 avocados still in pots, gotta make some time to get them planted. Thanks for watching!

    Nice Zutano and placement for pollination. I don't really have racoons in my area luckily but I do have a lot of pesky squirrels.

    When you grow avocados, do you have to have a second pollinator tree? And if so, what kind? I want to grow something that can grow in the central San Joaquin valley, it gets pretty hot here in the summertime, dry heat, and very cold in the winter time.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  Год назад +1

      Hi Armando, with one avocado tree you will get fruit. With that said, you can increase the fruit set if you did have a second avocado tree. So if you got an a-type and b type in your yard, the chances of you getting a lot more fruit is higher.
      There are other people in your area that are growing avocados successfully so I would recommend that you at least give it a try. Some varieties that are more tolerant to code would be bacon Zutano Stuart. Good luck and thanks for watching

    Hi are you able to find out rootstock used there on Mexicola? Is it on Tag?

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  2 года назад

      Unfortunately it was not available. Most growers locally use Zutano as the rootstock since the seed is bigger and relatively strong grower. Some trees I've seen at the local nursery will actually have 2 tags, 1 for the variety and one down low for the rootstock like Zutano, Duke or G6. Brokaw will allow you to pick varieties with a defined rootstock like Duke or Toro Canyon and so on.

    • @melbournesubtropicfruits9474
      @melbournesubtropicfruits9474 2 года назад +1

      @@AvocadoTalk okay - Zutano has been used Commercially here for a long time but doesn't move fast enough after winter - i use Reed for everything as is cold tolerant and will take A or B no probs - cant get Duke or even Duke 7 - only Commercial growers can but have an Avo on Velvick from a Nursery thats more salt tolerant which isn't an issue here.

    • @AvocadoTalk

      Hi Derek, last year I applied it 6 times, this year my plan is to apply it 8 tines with the younger trees and maybe 5 times with the larger ones. Thanks for watching!
