Great lesson. Here's a tip: if you have an older single-speed drill (mine is a fast 500 RPM), simply "pulse" the trigger. You will quickly get the feel for it.

Whatever you do, do not use sinks/tubs/drians inside your house to clean out any tools, hands, or the bucket, don't ask how I know. Get a bucket of warm water to use to clean off hands/tools if necessary and discard the clean-up water outside.

Do you feel like the cordless has enough power to mix the thick mortar? We've learned the hard way by burning a motor out on a cordless drill when using it for this purpose, so we usually stick with the corded one.

@@MakingManzanita Exactly! Cordless drill for mixing are NOT recommended.. Torque is required to mix slowly for a good batch.
