If we live in an open Universe, the size of the universe is infinite. Therefore, it doesn't make any sense to talk about the total number of alien civilizations in the entire universe. It only makes sense to talk about the density of alien civilizations. That is, number of civilizations per galaxy, for example.
***** The open Universe model is one of the possibilities in cosmology, and in this model the universe can be both infinite and expanding simultaneously.
Dan Albl No, I mean the entire universe. Think of an open universe as an infinite number of points along an infinite line. You can have the distance between each point and its two neighboring points increase with time. In this case, the Universe would be infinite, and yet the distance between the neighboring galaxies would still be increasing with time.
+ty hamilton Despite there being a number of at least self aware species all across our planet (dolphins, elephants, a few variants of great apes, etc), we're the only one to have developed technology of any kind. Aliens will NOT be able to explore the universe, or even reach our level of tech unless they're of these three things: 1) have the ability to construct; they have limbs, or whatever that is needed to manipulate tools or resources 2) have a desire to even build tools to help them in the first place 3) have a desire to explore, like us. If this is not the case, and the aliens are kind of lame, they might end up never actually leaving their world until they are either killed off by a random asteroid, or by overpopulation. Even if they did manage to get into space, what's to say that they'd build anything more advanced than their most basic constructions? If anything, they might just stop trying when they figured that nothing could go faster than the speed of light (a lot of people these days here at home seem all that uninterested in proclaimed 'ftl drives,' since there is supposedly no real feasible way for them to exist). If FTL really is impossible, I seriously doubt that anyone would get anywhere fast, ever.
Think how far we have come in such a short period of time. Now imagine a civilization(other then giant crystal lol) Working at it for a million, a hundred million, a billion years. The only thing impossible , is that such a thing as impossible exists. :)
***** not everybody have that instinct... look at those fighting because something that no one knows (wars), look at those killing people do you think they care in doing better??
Love this video, almost cried , I really hope we find life on another planet. This is something I dreamed about since I was a little kid. I always looked up at the sky an thought is somebody up their 😂😂😂😂. Thank-you for a great video.
***** My thought , exactly! No way, it would not. Any mega project such as a planet-sized space station will have to take into account its own gravity.
***** it depends on size of the planet/space station. You'd really need to build a very large space station to generate enough gravity to collapse on itself. A space station size of Earth won't have enough mass to collapse on itself, it'll be barely one third the mass of earth generating half of Earth's gravity.
Please let me mix your audio. I could fix those panning issues in a moment and touch up the eq, peaks, and compression a bit. Regarding Dyson Sphere detection.... How could you detect infrared emitted from it? Presumably the Sphere would be designed to capture ALL forms of energy being emitted from the star, so that would include heat energy. Hey Trace! maybe you can make a video about manipulation of gravity? if you want I can share certain information on questions you make for part of the video :)? Anyways what i believe do to experiments I am trying to do hypothesis and equations i made using superconducting material that it is not possible to create anti gravity but .. you can direct the propagation of gravity in other words directing the propagation of gravitons and with equations I have made in hypothesis the normal propagation of gravitons is 64C and it is possible to attract gravitons to one area through certain frequencies and rotations of the superconductor and in other ways discharge these gravitons to compress and decompress space RECURSIVELY because gravity affects gravity in a recursive way not only that but I believe that if someone can achieve the compression and decompression of space which essensially is attracting and pushing away gravitons effectively distorting space then someone can create a device that is sensitive to gravity and sensative to these distortions if you have a device sensitive enough to the distortions you can effectively map any part of the parsec we are in and I am trying to work on making a device that effectively creates a gravity distortion to bring an object toward it or move it away and notice im not saying push away because gravity/gravitons is the thing that tells matter which way to move and I will be doing an experiment very soon that is based off work and equations i made (based off machs principle; the principle of inertia) and designs that fit within the law of relativity I checked it over with my professors and collegues multiple times we believe that the experiement that is to be done will most likely work and is a 90 percent chance of success and if not we do believe that we are still on to something if it works it could effectively compress and decompress space around an object affecting the space around it in a recursive manner and something that could detect the recursive distortions so hopefully if that is done we can measure the strength of a distortion that came across passing by earth determine its size and its width with predictions of what a warp drive is capable of distorting and then come up with equations from the data that will allow us to measure the distance from the point of origin where the distortion occured in space where we cant see with telescopes and effectively then predict how much compression and decompression of space itself it would take to initiate a warp drive by measuring the initial distortion of gravitons/space when first understanding the original device me and my team is trying to create that will attract and push away gravitons and again that if achieved even on a small scale will effectively compress and decompress space then can be scaled up to the be fit on a ship and with the compression and decompression of space there would be no need for rockets to get into space. what we the phenomon that we are trying to create is a transient mass shift and the device can achieve a transient mass shift of 24% when it reaches a 100% shift it can begin to direct the propagation of atoms and molecules upwards removing all effective atmospheric pressure above the object when that atmospheric pressure is 0 and the bottom of the craft is 8 square feet for example at sea level there will be 1,411.2 pounds of force applied onto the craft itself from the bottom and here is what is nice if you can comperes or decompress space in a region you can counter the effect of inertia if inertia is caused by gravity then pulse it at the persons body so if there is a 200 pound male on the craft which has no fuel and only energy being used then he will be accelerated into space at a speed of 38,758.4 feet per second from the force at and near sea level without his body taking stress because the device will pulse the gravitons at him in a specific direction creating a transient mass shift equal and oppisite to the shift applied from the gravity of earth if you have a question of what a transient mass shift is , think of a physical mass shift when someone pushes you or when you are pressing down with your pencil on a paper that is a physical mass shift but a transient mass shift is a shift from a magnetic field or from gravity and so the person will have zero or near zero g-force applied onto his body even accelerating at near that speed in a second and reaching escape velocity without fuel needed an atmospheric drive which directs the propagation of gravity upwards which in turn directs the propagation of the atoms upwards so they "fall" towards the sky and then use the atmospheric pressure below the object to propel it into space. and then when getting into space the object can rapidly compress space infront of it stopping it from moving forward and then slowly dial down the energy used to attract the gravitons allowing the gravity to flow back into the void when reaching near the ISS or the moon we predict that a drive that is slower than light speed can be near a celestial mass and move around but if the craft is to be initiate a faster than light travel then it has to exit the solar system first and then go out a bit even farther away from the solar system before initiating a faster than light drive because the distortion of space and gravitons will be so massive that if its near a celestial mass it could possibly tear a planet apart entirely and if you are about 1 million kilometers away from a celestial mass traveling near the speed of light you might effect the planets orbit around its parent star...not good at all even if its a few inches and so as you get closer to a celestial mass the speed has to slow down but it most likely will be safe to initiate a drive at 20% the speed of light after you pass twice the distance between a planet and its moon/moons and as you get farther away the drive can increase the percentage of speed and when exiting the solar system then a faster than light drive can be activated... of course .-. this will only be possible if the few experiments we are doing now work.. which is tedious at times but fun to work with my friends and professors :) if the device works then we predict about 2 years for an atmospheric drive to be made 10-15 years for a sub luminal drive to be made and how ever long it takes scientists to figure out fusion or contain an antimatter reaction to sustain an FTL drive and for any aliens that have a warp drive they can most definately see almost immediately someone/something distorted space and pinpoint the origin of the distortion and follow the following distorion it will be like you lit a massive beacon and when we figure out one day in the far future how to create a jump drive to jump from one place to another then we can have beacons which create massive spacial distortions which will be like a beacon for massive ships to jump onto and the ships will of course be shielded from the distortion effects because they can create it so they will be fine just imagine that... party A lights a beacon and party B initiates a warp jump and appears a few hundred kilometers off the bow of the beacon xD
I've got so many questions but I'll try to cover like 3 or so 1. How is it possible for the sun to burn when there is no oxygen in space and how the heck can they be able to consume the energy of the sun 2.they say the universe is infinite maybe it isn't I mean they haven't made telescopes to see long enough maybe there is something or it is round or idk 3.if they say the universe expands where does it expand to I mean like it grows but where does it grow
MAYBE: When a civilization learns to harvest vacuum energy (or some other abundant energy of that sort) their simulations become so detailed that the civilization goes virtual (because it's much more fun to create a universe than to explore an existing one) and it _alienates_ itself and goes byebye. Maybe there are giant computers floating in the middle of space, trying to stay away from novas and stuff...
We have found them. 1. Just look up at the night sky and do the math (Drake equation). 2. If this doesn't work for you then check out SETI and check out how hard it is to decode wireless data. The amount of transmissions that we've been picking up for years are truly massive. Decoding these transmissions would be difficult even if they were intentionally sending them straight at our receiver. So instead we've been looking for obvious signals that would likely only be transmitted by a similar technologically advanced civilization as our own (triplets and gaussians). 3. More than 90% of the universe can only be seen as the shadow of the gravimetric fields of dark matter and energy. The universe is full of life we have not seen: we cannot see it yet, or cannot interpret what we are seeing.
I think considering the number of potential happy coincidences that you need to allow multicellular and intelligent life to appear, and the amount of time required statistically for some of them to occur, we might also be one of the first technological civilizations in the galaxy, or even in the universe, give or take a few thousands of years.
Let me present an hypothesis. That the universe itself is a living organism, in which different galaxies try to produce life of their own, in their own way, so as to produce the most intelligent life form as quickly as possible, on all possible planets of different start systems, so they can quickly build type 3 civilizations and ultimately rule the universe.
The original concept of a dyson sphere was actually misinterpreted by star trek. It was more of a cloud of satellites in several orbits. Much easier to build than a single solid shell.
Silly suggestion but the aliens could look somewhat like us. Its been done in media like Doctor Who (TimeLord) or Asobi no iku yo (Cat planet cuties: Catians). As explored in both some life forms may be hostile whereas, like in the case of Asobi no iku yo, some may want to trade and form relations with us. Both could be possible.
Do a week on dinosaurs like is it possible to use genetic modification with present animals to make animals from the past? Or can we de-evolve birds into dinosaurs
Type 1 is a global civilization shopping for planets in its immediate neighborhood. We're at the premises of becoming one. The internet is actually an example of type 1 technology: A type 1 communications and information system.
I watched this one video that had said we actually have received a transmission from another civilization but took years to decode cause it was a message within mathematics and once they had actually decoded it they learned it was a sos message from another civilization asking for help. They said that the civilization was just about advanced as ours having limited space travel capabilities. They said there was widespread famine and death and had no means to evacuate the remaining population and that the crisis was of there own doing. The ex-soviet who was head of some space organization said that the rest was confidential and that the crisis that the civilization was within could had possibly been caused by a nuclear war. He also added that when they sent the message sabertooth tigers were still roaming the Earth.
So what's in between solar systems and galaxies? Voyager 1 is outside our solar system, but what is that space in between called and is there anything like astroids, comets... planets, or is it just empty darkness?
A Dyson sphere can actually be many of small mechanics surrounding a star absorbing its energy, an example of size would be a multitude of satellites. It is a newly created idea that it is a "Star trek/star wars" machine.
Given that you said the galaxy is 100,000 light years across then if there are any advanced alien races in the galaxy they would have to be technical for less than 100,000 years or we would have heard them if they discovered radio.
It is very hard for alien life to come in contact with Us. The universe is just huge. To get to a civilization Type 3 it would take us decades! The universe is pretty old and we are quite young as a species if an alien species has already got to the Type 3 civilization , they might know the existance of earth and humans but might not want to contact us in order for humans to be able to continue their life cycle.
I'm not sure type 2 or 3 civilizations would bother with radio communication. It's just far too slow. Are there any studies of faster/efficient transmission technologies? Or at least studies/discussionout possible methods aliens might use to communicate. I know there's the laser one, but since it's light, one would assume we'd run into to time delay issues. Love the channel!!
What about the Giant void 6-10billion light years away and 1billion light years across, could that be a type 3 civilization covering many galaxy's with Thier Dyson spheres, since we can't see the stars would it not look like a void to us ?
What happened to the episode with why we need to move to mars?? I was watching it then it stopped and I could not find it off of youtube anymore. conspiracy '0'
Simply put, these alien civilisations probably exist but are too far away for us to feasibly contact in a short amount of time. Even if there were thousands of advanced civilisations in just our own universe there's still little chance that any of them are very close to us physically.
If we've only been listening for the last 50 years wouldn't it be fair to assume that there are no alien life forms at the same stage as us within a distance of 50 light years.
I think maybe they're probably too shy around Earthlings now. I do predict that at some point they might be on their way to earth to announce all the mistakes mankind has made through the years, decades and centuries and what we can do to fix them.
I never completely understood the concept of Dyson sphere, as in, of we put a giant bak around the sun, where will we, rest of plants and animals life get their sunlight from?
i believe it was more of, consuming energy directly from sun without letting any waste away, and transmit it to earth. I dont think living that close to sun would be a good idea. Priyanka chopra is already too hot!
NitroAgent 64 Well, if we had "found" aliens in our present or past, we would know about it. Finding implies the knowledge of something, right? Unless you're thinking of the conspiracies. But that wouldn't be a scientific way of thinking about this.
Wouldn't a civilization that could harness energy from a star sacking out all of its energy; then cause the star to collapse into a singularity creating a black hole? Which would be half cool and half EXTREMELY dangerous.?
But if there are planets that have existed since the beginning of The Big Bang shouldn´t their sun be dead by now? But maybe if they are a type 3 civilization they probably have figured out how to travel to other planets and galaxies. Because we have only "used" half of the lifetime of our sun so we have time on us to figure out how to travel to other galaxies.
We can make one conclusion at this point... There arent aliens advanced enough to visit us, out of billions of planets and thousands of advanced aliens non of them as visited us yet?
Aliens want to study us in a void so they try their hardest to erase all traces of themselves across the universe so all of our experiences are earthling experiences.
Type 1 - able to harness all energy of the planet (humans may reach in about 100 or so years) Type 2 - able to harness all the energy of a star (humans may get this in 1000's of years) Type 3 - able to harness all the energy of a Galaxy (may take us millions or even billions of years) Type 4 able to harness all of the energy of the universe (if it's possible it may take us trillions upon trillions of years) Type 5 able to harness all energy in all universes (entirely theoretical that there are other universes we can reach let alone whether harnessing their energy is possible) Type 6 anything here or above this is God essentially I like to imagine that the goal of all life is to merge together into one single living hyper intelligent, hyper efficient and hyper powerful entity
+Thraxus TheAwesomeness yeah, they could consider time travelling back in time and harnessing the power of the universe type 0.0001 for all we know. They may even know how to break laws of conservation of energy and matter.
my question: if a type2 civilization can harness the energy of a star would a successful hydrogen fusion machine make humanity a type 2 since we essentially created a star
"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." there was a type 3 civilization.

These episodes are making me really want to watch some Star Trek.
That is an awesome Noble Gas shirt, Trace.
I think considering the number of potential happy coincidences that you need to allow multicellular and intelligent life to appear, and the amount of time required statistically for some of them to occur, we might also be one of the first technological civilizations in the galaxy, or even in the universe, give or take a few thousands of years.
What's the scale called where their are type 1, type, and type 3 civilizations?
Let me present an hypothesis. That the universe itself is a living organism, in which different galaxies try to produce life of their own, in their own way, so as to produce the most intelligent life form as quickly as possible, on all possible planets of different start systems, so they can quickly build type 3 civilizations and ultimately rule the universe.
Protoss and zerg bio-signatures can be found in a place called the Koprulu Sector, which is about 6000 lightyears away from Earth.
The original concept of a dyson sphere was actually misinterpreted by star trek. It was more of a cloud of satellites in several orbits. Much easier to build than a single solid shell.
They had one good look at us and decided they didn't want anything to do with us. Honestly, I understand them.
I have a question, What exactly are processed foods? What does it mean if something is processed?
god i love this channel
I love this channel!
One question. What i the time lord civilization rated?
The internet is actually an example of type 1 technology: A type 1 communications and information system.
i feel like they have talked about this same topic like 5 times before
I watched this one video that had said we actually have received a transmission from another civilization but took years to decode cause it was a message within mathematics and once they had actually decoded it they learned it was a sos message from another civilization asking for help.
Guiseppe Montenegro its called space. space is whats inbetween them.
Good stuff
would it make sense to say that we are looking for ourselves, like is that a number in the statistic ?
A Dyson sphere can actually be many of small mechanics surrounding a star absorbing its energy, an example of size would be a multitude of satellites. It is a newly created idea that it is a "Star trek/star wars" machine.
we need to develope or evolve to communicate telepathically. or build something like that thing from the movie contact
Star Trek's Prime Directive is a very good reasoning.
TestTube News you guys always have good stuff, but you gotta do something about the volume of your videos. The volume is too low.
What about the Giant void 6-10billion light years away and 1billion light years across, could that be a type 3 civilization covering many galaxy's with Thier Dyson spheres, since we can't see the stars would it not look like a void to us ?
This guy knows more than he's telling. He probably knew about the "megastructure star" while doing this interview.
The Death Star - though called "space station" is actually a giant starship!
What happened to the episode with why we need to move to mars?? I was watching it then it stopped and I could not find it off of youtube anymore. conspiracy '0'
Awesome!
Simply put, these alien civilisations probably exist but are too far away for us to feasibly contact in a short amount of time. Even if there were thousands of advanced civilisations in just our own universe there's still little chance that any of them are very close to us physically.
We have found aliens, just play.. basically any video game ever.
I was about to say there's none in Assassin's Creed, but then I realized there are.
If we've only been listening for the last 50 years wouldn't it be fair to assume that there are no alien life forms at the same stage as us within a distance of 50 light years.
They are already here people. They were here way before we were.
Trace in my right ear, Ian in my left ear. Next time make the tracks mono! 😅
I think maybe they're probably too shy around Earthlings now. I do predict that at some point they might be on their way to earth to announce all the mistakes mankind has made through the years, decades and centuries and what we can do to fix them.
I look forward to meeting our alien neighbors
I look forward to seeing Trace wearing the same shirt tomorrow.
this video made my feel like an ant trying to scream to a titanosaur
message to whoever is mixing the audio on this .. the left and right are uncomfortably pand to far apart
it would be nearly impossible to communicate with other civilizations
Because we're always expecting them to look like us and not like some sort of parasite or strange creature
Why are we so worried about space and aliens and we don't even know what is going on at the bottom of the sea
How do you know we haven't found aliens in our present or past?
NitroAgent 64 Well, if we had "found" aliens in our present or past, we would know about it. Finding implies the knowledge of something, right?
Unless you're thinking of the conspiracies. But that wouldn't be a scientific way of thinking about this.
NitroAgent 64 Whats to stop the government from hiding information.
0:30 "They should be talking to us"
That's a *completely* *absurd* assumption.
we can't even send a human to Mars let alone be type 1
The sound was not balanced for the physicist, I was hearing him from the left speaker and it was really knowing hard to listen lol, but good subject!
We casually think we may have found a megastructure
This was 2015
scientists are great
They sure are
Wouldn't a civilization that could harness energy from a star sacking out all of its energy; then cause the star to collapse into a singularity creating a black hole? Which would be half cool and half EXTREMELY dangerous.?
Traccceeeeeee!!! love youuu
YES!
I wonder if they've seen us and been like 'Xbox one is so 30,000 years ago'
We can make one conclusion at this point...
There arent aliens advanced enough to visit us, out of billions of planets and thousands of advanced aliens non of them as visited us yet?
I think about alien life everyday
I think about it every week
Aliens want to study us in a void so they try their hardest to erase all traces of themselves across the universe so all of our experiences are earthling experiences.
Type 1 - able to harness all energy of the planet (humans may reach in about 100 or so years)
Type 2 - able to harness all the energy of a star (humans may get this in 1000's of years)
Type 3 - able to harness all the energy of a Galaxy (may take us millions or even billions of years)
Type 4 able to harness all of the energy of the universe (if it's possible it may take us trillions upon trillions of years)
Type 5 able to harness all energy in all universes (entirely theoretical that there are other universes we can reach let alone whether harnessing their energy is possible)
Type 6 anything here or above this is God essentially
I like to imagine that the goal of all life is to merge together into one single living hyper intelligent, hyper efficient and hyper powerful entity
yeah i mean having hands with fingers and thumbs does help in making inventions. kind of hard to make a car with fins
Imagine an alien species who are sentient and their life expectancy is millions of years...think what they can and observe and accomplish ...
Maybe aliens are invisible.
Once we hit type one ... Would other civilizations then recognize us?
I mean, I doubt it. What we find really advanced could be really stupid to others. Our vision of type 3 could be their vision of 0.1
+Thraxus TheAwesomeness yeah, they could consider time travelling back in time and harnessing the power of the universe type 0.0001 for all we know. They may even know how to break laws of conservation of energy and matter.
I'm so nerdy for alien stuff O.o
my question: if a type2 civilization can harness the energy of a star would a successful hydrogen fusion machine make humanity a type 2 since we essentially created a star
hey guys listen to this
suppose
type 1 is the prehistoric man
type 2 is the age of kings
and
type 3 is modern civilization
science!!!😞
the majority of life on our planet exists beneath the surface it could be that may be where most life exists everywhere else
Wish i seen alien life
What about a type 4 civilization? *mind blown*
