You can have the distance between each point and its two neighboring points increase with time. +ty hamilton Despite there being a number of at least self aware species all across our planet (dolphins, elephants, a few variants of great apes, etc), we're the only one to have developed technology of any kind. Aliens will NOT be able to explore the universe, or even reach our level of tech unless they're of these three things: 1) have the ability to construct; they have limbs, or whatever that is needed to manipulate tools or resources 2) have a desire to even build tools to help them in the first place 3) have a desire to explore, like us. If this is not the case, and the aliens are kind of lame, they might end up never actually leaving their world until they are either killed off by a random asteroid, or by overpopulation. Even if they did manage to get into space, what's to say that they'd build anything more advanced than their most basic constructions? If anything, they might just stop trying when they figured that nothing could go faster than the speed of light (a lot of people these days here at home seem all that uninterested in proclaimed 'ftl drives,' since there is supposedly no real feasible way for them to exist). If FTL really is impossible, I seriously doubt that anyone would get anywhere fast, ever.

A space station size of Earth won't have enough mass to collapse on itself, it'll be barely one third the mass of earth generating half of Earth's gravity.

Regarding Dyson Sphere detection.... How could you detect infrared emitted from it? Presumably the Sphere would be designed to capture ALL forms of energy being emitted from the star, so that would include heat energy. Anyways what i believe do to experiments I am trying to do hypothesis and equations i made using superconducting material that it is not possible to create anti gravity but .. you can direct the propagation of gravity in other words directing the propagation of gravitons and with equations I have made in hypothesis the normal propagation of gravitons is 64C and it is possible to attract gravitons to one area through certain frequencies and rotations of the superconductor and in other ways discharge these gravitons to compress and decompress space RECURSIVELY because gravity affects gravity in a recursive way not only that but I believe that if someone can achieve the compression and decompression of space which essensially is attracting and pushing away gravitons effectively speed has to slow down but it most likely will be safe to initiate a drive at 20% the speed of light after you pass twice the distance between a planet and its moon/moons and as you get farther away MAYBE: When a civilization learns to harvest vacuum energy (or some other abundant energy of that sort) their simulations become so detailed that the civilization goes virtual (because it's much more fun to create a universe than to explore an existing one) and it _alienates_ itself and goes byebye. We have found them. 1. Just look up at the night sky and do the math (Drake equation). 2. If this doesn't work for you then check out SETI and check out how hard it is to decode wireless data. The amount of transmissions that we've been picking up for years are truly massive. Decoding these transmissions would be difficult even if they were intentionally sending them straight at our receiver. So instead we've been looking for obvious signals that would likely only be transmitted by a similar technologically advanced civilization as our own (triplets and gaussians). 3. More than 90% of the universe can only be seen as the shadow of the gravimetric fields of dark matter and energy. The universe is full of life we have not seen: we cannot see it yet, or cannot interpret what we are seeing.
I think considering the number of potential happy coincidences that you need to allow multicellular and intelligent life to appear, and the amount of time required statistically for some of them to occur, we might also be one of the first technological civilizations in the galaxy, or even in the universe, give or take a few thousands of years.
Let me present an hypothesis. That the universe itself is a living organism, in which different galaxies try to produce life of their own, in their own way, so as to produce the most intelligent life form as quickly as possible, on all possible planets of different start systems, so they can quickly build type 3 civilizations and ultimately rule the universe.
The original concept of a dyson sphere was actually misinterpreted by star trek. It was more of a cloud of satellites in several orbits. Much easier to build than a single solid shell.
Silly suggestion but the aliens could look somewhat like us. Its been done in media like Doctor Who (TimeLord) or Asobi no iku yo (Cat planet cuties: Catians). I watched this one video that had said we actually have received a transmission from another civilization but took years to decode cause it was a message within mathematics and once they had actually decoded it they learned it was a sos message from another civilization asking for help. They said that the civilization was just about advanced as ours having limited space travel capabilities. They said there was widespread famine and death and had no means to evacuate the remaining population and that the crisis was of there own doing. The ex-soviet who was head of some space organization said that the rest was confidential and that the crisis that the civilization was within could had possibly been caused by a nuclear war. He also added that when they sent the message sabertooth tigers were still roaming the Earth.
So what's in between solar systems and galaxies? Voyager 1 is outside our solar system, but what is that space in between called and is there anything like astroids, comets... planets, or is it just empty darkness?
A Dyson sphere can actually be many of small mechanics surrounding a star absorbing its energy, an example of size would be a multitude of satellites. It is a newly created idea that it is a "Star trek/star wars" machine.
Given that you said the galaxy is 100,000 light years across then if there are any advanced alien races in the galaxy they would have to be technical for less than 100,000 years or we would have heard them if they discovered radio.
It is very hard for alien life to come in contact with Us. The universe is just huge. To get to a civilization Type 3 it would take us decades! The universe is pretty old and we are quite young as a species if an alien species has already got to the Type 3 civilization , they might know the existance of earth and humans but might not want to contact us in order for humans to be able to continue their life cycle.
I'm not sure type 2 or 3 civilizations would bother with radio communication. It's just far too slow. Are there any studies of faster/efficient transmission technologies? Or at least studies/discussionout possible methods aliens might use to communicate. I know there's the laser one, but since it's light, one would assume we'd run into to time delay issues. Simply put, these alien civilisations probably exist but are too far away for us to feasibly contact in a short amount of time. Even if there were thousands of advanced civilisations in just our own universe there's still little chance that any of them are very close to us physically.
If we've only been listening for the last 50 years wouldn't it be fair to assume that there are no alien life forms at the same stage as us within a distance of 50 light years.

we predict that a drive that is slower than light speed can be near a celestial mass and move around but if the craft is to be initiate a faster than light travel then it has to exit the solar system first and then go out a bit even farther away from the solar system before initiating a faster than light drive because the distortion of space and gravitons will be so massive that if its near a celestial mass it could possibly tear a planet apart entirely and if you are about 1 million kilometers away from a celestial mass traveling near the speed of light you might effect the planets orbit around its parent star...not good at all even if its a few inches and so as you get closer to a celestial mass the speed has to slow down but it most likely will be safe to initiate a drive at 20% the speed of light after you pass twice the distance between a planet and its moon/moons and as you get farther away the drive can increase the percentage of speed and when exiting the solar system then a faster than light drive can be activated... of course .-. this will only be possible if the few experiments we are doing now work.. which is tedious at times but fun to work with my friends and professors :) if the device works then we predict about 2 years for an atmospheric drive to be made 10-15 years for a sub luminal drive to be made and how ever long it takes scientists to figure out fusion or contain an antimatter reaction to sustain an FTL drive and for any aliens that have a warp drive they can most definately see almost immediately someone/something distorted space and pinpoint the origin of the distortion and follow the following distorion it will be like you lit a massive beacon
and when we figure out one day in the far future how to create a jump drive to jump from one place to another then we can have beacons which create massive spacial distortions which will be like a beacon for massive ships to jump onto and the ships will of course be shielded from the distortion effects because they can create it so they will be fine just imagine that... party A lights a beacon and party B initiates a warp jump and appears a few hundred kilometers off the bow of the beacon xD

MAYBE: When a civilization learns to harvest vacuum energy (or some other abundant energy of that sort) their simulations become so detailed that the civilization goes virtual (because it's much more fun to create a universe than to explore an existing one) and it _alienates_ itself and goes byebye. I think considering the number of potential happy coincidences that you need to allow multicellular and intelligent life to appear, and the amount of time required statistically for some of them to occur, we might also be one of the first technological civilizations in the galaxy, or even in the universe, give or take a few thousands of years.

I watched this one video that had said we actually have received a transmission from another civilization but took years to decode cause it was a message within mathematics and once they had actually decoded it they learned it was a sos message from another civilization asking for help. They said that the civilization was just about advanced as ours having limited space travel capabilities. They said there was widespread famine and death and had no means to evacuate the remaining population and that the crisis was of there own doing. Given that you said the galaxy is 100,000 light years across then if there are any advanced alien races in the galaxy they would have to be technical for less than 100,000 years or we would have heard them if they discovered radio.
It is very hard for alien life to come in contact with Us. The universe is just huge. To get to a civilization Type 3 it would take us decades! The universe is pretty old and we are quite young as a species if an alien species has already got to the Type 3 civilization , they might know the existance of earth and humans but might not want to contact us in order for humans to be able to continue their life cycle.

I'm not sure type 2 or 3 civilizations would bother with radio communication. It's just far too slow. Are there any studies of faster/efficient transmission technologies? Simply put, these alien civilisations probably exist but are too far away for us to feasibly contact in a short amount of time. Even if there were thousands of advanced civilisations in just our own universe there's still little chance that any of them are very close to us physically.

Type 2 - able to harness all the energy of a star (humans may get this in 1000's of years)
Type 3 - able to harness all the energy of a Galaxy (may take us millions or even billions of years)
Type 4 able to harness all of the energy of the universe (if it's possible it may take us trillions upon trillions of years)
Type 5 able to harness all energy in all universes (entirely theoretical that there are other universes we can reach let alone whether harnessing their energy is possible)
