*I'm not sure if you've covered the significance of the title sequence for the show, and how the intro music varies from episode to episode. In the end we get to hear all that music assembled and played as the funeral march for Maarva. That makes me think that the show's title "Andor" doesn't necessarily refer to Cassian Andor (played by Diego Luna), but rather refers to his mother Maarva Cassia Andor (played by Fiona Shaw) whose posthumous speech becomes the actual spark for the Rebellion.*

This is the Star Wars series we’ve been waiting for. A+ all around, acting, directing, and theatrical score, just top tier story telling. I thought it was interesting they never revisited Andor’s quest for his sister, though being in prison would prevent someone from that. I was thinking his sister was looking for him, she just didn’t know he is her brother.

    Such an amazing speech!!
Maarva Andor: My name is Maarva Carassi Andor. I'm honored to stand before you. I'm honored to be a Daughter of Ferrix, and honored to be worthy of the stone. Strange, I... feel as if I can see it. I was six, I think, first time I touched a funerary stone. Heard our music, felt our history. Holding my sister's hand as we walked all the way from Fountain Square. Where you stand now, I've been more times than I can remember. I always wanted to be lifted. I was always eager, always waiting to be inspired. I remember every time it happened, every time the dead lifted me... With their truth. And now I'm dead. And I yearn to lift you. Not because I want to shine or even be remembered. It's because I want you to go on. I want Ferrix to continue. In my waning hours, that's what comforts me most. But I fear for you. We've been sleeping. We've had each other, and Ferrix, our work, our days. We had each other, and they left us alone. We kept the trade lanes open, and they left us alone. We took their money and ignored them, we kept their engines churning, and the moment they pulled away, we forgot them. Because we had each other. We had Ferrix. But we were sleeping. I've been sleeping. And I've been turning away from the truth I wanted not to face. There is a wound that won't heal at the center of the galaxy. There is a darkness reaching like rust into everything around us. We let it grow, and now it's here. It's here, and it's not visiting anymore. It wants to stay. The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness, it is never more alive than when we sleep. It's easy for the dead to tell you to fight, and maybe it's true, maybe fighting is useless. Perhaps it's too late. But I'll tell you this... If I could do it again, I'd wake up early and be fighting these b*stards from the start. Fight the Empire!

Powerful. Not just for a show but for humans in real life under the umbrella of tyranny. Finally a GOOD subliminal from Disney. As our controllers try harder and harder to consolidate their power by taking away our liberties little by little while destroying our planet and our hope, here comes some EXCELLENT fiction to show the importance of a story. It inspires in real life as well, and something we ALL need to take deeply.

Nemik's manifesto talks about how the Rebellion already exists all across the galaxy. It confirms that Cassian, Bix, and Paak were already a Rebel cell in all but name. Cassian had stolen a LOT of stuff for Luthen. Cassian was Bix's only thief. Bix was the only one who use Paak's radio. Luthen was their only buyer. They were already part of the Rebellion, and they were smart enough to know it (based on the buyer's wishlist).

The flashback to his father repurposing the heat sinks was an allegory for Cassian and Bix, being broken and seen by most as worthless. Most people don't recognize the value in a broken part. Bix for example is literally broken by the empire throughout this season. Yet Cassian goes back to her and rescues her be cause he sees the value where others wouldn't even look. That was my take at least.

    Chills from this episode.
It made me reframe the title "Andor" to mean this show was as much about Maarva's posthumous call to arms, hence she was sort of a "Mother" to the rebellion in her way- as well as Cassian's.
Also, I feel like Maarva's monologue resonated with Syril Karn, with all that he's lacking from _his_ mother...you can detect it subtly when the camera cuts to him during it.

Also, it was amazing how that one kid quietly in the background this entire time was the one to ignite the spark. A protagonist not at the forefront of the story. I believe Andor's motivation in telling Luthen to shoot him was exactly the opposite. He was more just showing Luthen he was "all in" for the rebellion by offering his life. He knew Luthen wouldn't kill him. Luthen told him how valuable he could be to the resistance when they first met and now after setting up his mental and emotional turn towards full rebellion with the manifesto reading and his mother's speech, he wasn't going to Luthen to die; he was 1000% going to there to fully commit.

    • @soakedbearrd

What’s interesting was his arc. I didn’t like him in the first two episodes but as he grew I in turned grew with him. The scene where the character forgot his name, offered to split the cash with him and kill the others, show lex Andor that he was almost like him and it disgusted him. The prison scene was a sort of boot camp , when they HAD to work as a unit to survive (he was always a loner) and the importance of having nothing left to lose. It also showed him TOGETHER WE RISE, DIVIDED WE FALL. The scene with the other prisoner that he escaped with saying they must get the message out and needed to split up. The kid and his dairy, idealistic and full of hope, which at the time he wasn’t ready to hear. I mean this show is brilliant in how they build and it’s character up, it didn’t seem pushed and was organic. I’m blown away by the writing and the acting.

I do hope the creators of Andor will return to create a lot more Star Wars shows, because their approach is by far the best, most respectful of Star Wars, and has the best writing, acting, world building, and everything. I need more than a single season of this.

He was showing Luthen how detected he will be for the rebellion, either "take me in or kill me", as Andor is a dead man if he can't continue the fight with Luthen. Luthen smiles because he knows Andor has finally embraced the rebellion.

We all know about Force ghosts in Star Wars. Mostly those ghosts are heard by Force users like Luke, Leia, Ezra, Yoda, and Obi-wan. But remember, everyone is part of the living Force. And in this last episode, Cassian hears Force ghost of his father, Clem, as remembers his words at the wall. He hears the Force ghost of Nemik thru the manifesto and, finally, the Force ghost of Maarva. Cassian is now ready to fight and become one of the leaders of the rebellion. In a way, Cassian is now one with the Force. In a way, if Luthen is a kind of Jedi Master, Cassian has become a Knight of the Jedi.

Andor is a show anyone connected to it should be PROUD of. It is fantastic 5.0 on a 4.0 scale. Force Awakens and the other two Disney Triology movies were purposely made to be horrible movies. It is really sad such Sucktastic people made those movies and were put into leadership roles. The Emperor would be so proud of them. Obi Wan was not the only Hope either. His show was not horrible, but it was clearly flawed, on purpose, and that is not the actors faults, most of the actors at least, not all of them, some are to blame too, but most not. Obi-Wan at least watchable, had some good moments, and a few nonsensical bad choices, horrible choices really, that ultimately flawed the show, giving it a deep black eye.
Andor on the other hand, is Flawless. It is akin to the original Star Wars movie, where the Empire is full of conflicting people who have personalities, don't agree with all the choices of the Empire, but give the Empire a living realistic presence. That changes over the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Sure you still get some of that, but it is stronger int he first movie, and that living presence is clearly ALIVE in Andor. They resurrected the SPIRIT OF STAR WARS. This show won't win some award, though it might, but it deserves an Oscar, but alas due to the way Hollywood is run by Wankers, it won't, but it should and in the hearts of real fans it did. The first season is a gift to all true fans of Star Wars.

  • @MichaelMcIntyre920
    @MichaelMcIntyre920 Год назад

Ultimately, Andor is about conjunctions -- just as the name of the show implies: "And" / "Or". It is about the conjunction between Cass and Maarva, Cass and Bix, Luthen and Cass, Luthen and Mon Mothma, Cass and Syril, Cass and Kino Loy, Cass and Cinta, Syril and Dedra. These individual characters are each joined together with others (this is the "and" part), but they are also all leading somewhat double or even duplicitous existences (this is the "or" part). Is Cassian a normal beloved son, or is he a thief. Is Luthen an antiquities dealer, or is he the ringleader of rebels? Senator Mon Mothma, or revolutionary Mon Mothma? Each character has a solitary essence, yet they are each best understood in terms of his or her relation to other characters. B2EMO is fascinating as an individual character; B2EMO’s connection with Maarva and then Cass is so much more meaningful. In episode 12, most of the major characters of the show arrive at a junction of sorts on Ferrix, just as the residents converge from different streets to a point on Rix Road for Maarva’s funeral oration. Conjunctions all over the place, both literal and figurative. The show is marvelous, for it is this interconnectedness of the characters which provides the essential framework and unity of the plot. The plot is not merely a series of action events, nor is it held together by a simple string of complications. The conjunction of the characters is the essence of the show just like the six-spoked junction components from Narkina 5 are the framework of the Death Star’s laser dish. Indeed, each character in the show is a multi-armed component, so when they are all connected, we have a beautifully harmonious show - just like the ultimate main title theme for episode 12.
