- Today we install and review a Podofo 10.1" Apple CarPlay/Android stereo. For months I contemplated buying one of these for my 2004 F250 powerstroke but wasn't sure if they were worth the money and time. After installing one and using it for 2 weeks, I decided to show you guys the process and review its performance and operation. I used this video as a guide to install this unit into my Nissan RAV4. You did an awesome job.

Got a PODOFO for my Peugeot but it was so laggy, couldnt figure out how to use Carplay.
This video was very useful - got Carplay working now, and lag seems to have gone as well.

I got one for my car 12 fiesta made to fit like an OEM piece . The directions where meant for a universal install and very vague and useless. You showing the install and functions have helped alot. I'm looking forward to using this . Thanks for the info on yours

I have this one but the 9” version. Is there anyway to get wireless CarPlay to automatically connect when you turn the ignition on? To save going through zlink and connecting?

Any advice on fixing the stuttering on my podofo unit? Sometimes it struggles to connect wirelessly to CarPlay, sometimes the music just stutters and jumps every few seconds and the usb connection doesn’t work it says like failed to connect try another port or something like that
I just put one in my F 350...I found some stuff like you but not much...you know about it being in sleep mode that drains your battery, back lights color dsnt work in these like some do...unless you figured it out, Can you do a update on this with any tricks or tweeks you might have found or just post it to my reply ...Thanks !!

Wait, you'll never own an android device, isn't that an android device installed in your truck? Great job on the video, it was easy to follow and you provided a lot of good info on the device. How does it sound today? Its been around a year, I am thinking of maybe getting one, but had one before and it was terrible. Hoping they get better.

Ordered same unit but sadly they did not include the harness for the backup camera hookup, and it does not have the auxiliary pigtail hanging out for the steering wheel controls

Hey I have this radio in my car and the backup camera is doing what yours did, and the wire in the back is plugged in, you mentioned the blue wire stubs coming out of the port,I have those as well but they aren't connected to anything, the radio is registering that I'm in reverse and goes to a black "no single".PLEASE HELP ....THANK YOU
The two blue wires are antenna for Bluetooth and wifi

I’m a year late to this video, but after going through 2 Pioneer units having the white screen of death, I just need something so I can stop using my AirPods in the car and also navigation for my trip in a couple weeks to Canada. My car has a backup camera factory installed. Would this support that, or would I have to use the one they provide? I imagine it’s built into the wiring harness directly since there is no RCA wire at all.
I'm sure you would need to get the interface that will connect to your factory cameras and Amp and steering wheel controls

Zlink comes installed on the head unit by default.
Is the jvc one good? It has a 10.1 screen it’s on Best Buy and im thinking abt putting it in my 2001 f250
Im not sure but with it being name brand im sure it will work better than this one. Although ive had no problems out of it.

What are you having trouble with? If you bought an aftermarket radio harness that plugs into your factory harness then it will just be matching colors.
I recently bought a stereo from the same brand. for a 2006 jetta but it happens that when activating the directions. The camera opens automatically. the same thing happens to you?. What can I do to prevent it from happening?
You can change this in settings, I would have to go through them on mine to give you step by step instructions.

Hi I just got mine and was wondering if you had a problem with it being unresponsive when first powered on. I can not get any feedback from touching the screen. I’ve hit the tiny reset button, let it boot up then left it for 20 mins and still no response
I have never had that issue, I would let the seller know and do a return.
Just got the new one and so far it works great (first one was definitely defective but it happens). May I ask how you got rid of the original Home Screen and added apps? I can’t figure it out and there a media player I don’t use with a picture of a random guy on mine
Have you solved this problem ? Yesterday I bought one and faced the same problem. Solution is connecting a DVR USB camera at USB 4 pin input...

Excellent vid man. One question. When I go to logo change there aren’t any options to choose from. Did you happen to have the same issue?
thanks for the feedback! I cant remember honestly. But what i did to choose my background was email myself a photo from my phone and then download the attachment onto the radio, you can then set the background to anything you want.

i bought this stereo for christmas along with a 12” POWERED subwoofer, so it has a built in amp, for som reason it says it’s getting power but it won’t play any sound, please help!!
Sounds like you didn't plug your RCAs into the right ones in the back of the radio. Make sure you have them plugged into and 'audio out' rca or if there is one for subwoofer use that one. If you us the one for subwoofer you may have to turn subwoofer on in the radio settings. An easy test would be to pull the radio out and with the ignition on and music playing try plugging in the rcas until the subwoofer works.

So if u don't have wifi on the road can u play music still.. OR play RUclips
wifi hotspot is only needed if you want to watch youtube or use the radio as a tablet basically. otherwise it works just like any other bluetooth headunit and will stream music using your phone data

No i used my phone hotspot and it does fine
How you get the apple car play to work i connected the usb 4pin cable and still nothing
I had the same issue and each USB cable is specific to carplay/android so try the other USB cable. You can also connect to carplay wirelessly using the zlink app.

How did the tuner work on the radio?
It works great, picks up every local station clearly.

Yes you can, theres 2 usb ports on the back of the headunit. One is for android and one is for apple. I think i mentioned this in the video, just make sure you plug the right one in for apple or it wont connect!

Can you use google maps without WiFi ? I have to set on my hotspot to use the radio online.
I dont think its called google maps but it does have a gps app you can download maps to with wifi and use with no wifi while driving.

check to see if your car has factory amp. You would need to its trigger wire to the amp turn on wire on the radio.
you mentioned this unit being " laggy". im dealing with this now and woner how you may have rectified this.... Cool unit though!
sorry just saw this, I think i just got used to it. Doesnt really bother me. They do make other units with more memory and ive wondered if they perform better.

Hi did you install an amplifier/subwoofer to this unit and if so how was the quality?
I did not but I would imagine the quality would be just as good as any other aftermarket headunit.
I have factory amp in f350 and it sounds good. I have the bass turned down and it still hits good

@@did2178 sir I had to get interface that matched up with it. It's like that little decoder box that they send when you tell them what car or truck it goes in. Works the steering wheel controls also

Where do u put the gps antenna?
I just put mine on the dash in the bottom left corner. as long as its in the open to receive the signal you can mount it anywhere.
How did you get your daughter picture on there
It’s a nice unit had a problem with mine at first screen bottom was unresponsive but Amazon shipped me a new one now everything works perfect. Now apps you can’t do Netflix or RUclips tv on the video shows not supported for this tablet CarPlay Bluetooth works great . I can’t stand that podofo guy so I turned him off in settings. prime Video works ok also RUclips seriosxm great it’s a great buy but rest assured your going to spend a lot of time learning what and what not you can do. My screen mirrior works fine it’s in zlinks . Thanks for the tip on downloading a picture thru email looking forward to download outlook tomorrow it was a fun deal putting it in my Jeep . Seeya

I didnt download anymore apps except maybe 2-3 and didnt store music on it either so i def didnt need anymore memory. It ran fine, wasnt slow but idk how it would run with a bunch of apps and other things stored.
I would say yes because it is slow doing things. But it works better with a better launcher
How has it been holding up?
I sold the truck it was in back in January but it was working great still. I actually installed on in another vehicle ive been driving for 2 months now and it works just as good as the first one! still recommend.

I can’t get my subwoofer or amp to work. Everything else does on so I’m lost
I ran into this on my daughters 2006 Honda civic. If the vehicle comes with a factory amp/ premium auto, you either need a bypass harness or ruclips.net/video/TAM9uXb8zcA/видео.html&feature=share (this was for the civic but you get the idea). Hope this helps if you haven't figured it out
Got to auto zone and get a rca Bc the radio only has one plug for the amp to come on

Yes only through wifi though. You can use the hotspot from your phone to stream.

It has been awhile since I installed this but if i remember correctly you have to buy an addition cable or download an app. not sure, but i would check the amazon reviews for more information.
According to Podofo, you have to connect your phone to a usb if android or Airplay if Iphone

Can the back of that radio fit in a 7 inch slot ?
A factory double din radio is 7x4" so if you have a double din in your car now then it will fit. I have installed these in 2 vehicles so far and both had double din radios stock and they fit.
How the Gps work ?
Honestly never used it. You have to download maps to it in order to use the gps offline. I just used maps on apple carplay

mine doesn’t let me customize my home screen
These units are made from one manufacturer and then sold to different Chinese sellers that change the Home Screen and settings. Podofo branded ones let you change themes. Ones from Hikitty and some others lock the Home Screen with no different theme option or ability to atleast change up the Home Screen. I had to return one and order a different one for that reason. Also upgraded from a 2gb to a 4gb model
Can’t find Zlink in playstore
Its preloaded on the headunit. You have to go to apps and then you will see it and can add it to the home screen

I considered buying the 8/128 version, but it wasn't what I was thinking.
Look for some chinese multimedia with android auto "normal", that connects as soon as you turn on the bluetooth, without needing to use Zlink, this mobile internet route, etc...
If anyone can suggest one I would be grateful.

Yup, if its on your phone and you use apple carplay or android auto it will be on there but you can also download it from google play store.

Testé le V2Plus 4go 64go, je pense le fabriquant sérieux mais ensuite selon la marque collée dessus. appareil correct pour les fonction, mais défauts techniques ( soudures faibles à pas de soudure, visserie bloqquée, vis trop faibles ..) ; aide ok mais en chinois uniquement, un représentant en France ne répond pas, situation de panne : le SAV , service de garantie = sauve qui peut , delmande depayer pour des pièces sous garantie, ce qui amène l'appareil au double du prix d'une marque sérieuse.

I shouldve been more specific and said android phone, I have an android tv at home that ive had to hard reset at least 20 times. Their operating system is trash.
@@CARSTUDIOYT just couldn't resist. I use a cheap flagship killer android phone and it works fine. Is the OS trash? Dunno, it can be quirky but my wife's iPhone iOS looks like abracadabra to me too. She loves it. I think it also comes down to how used you are to something.
Liked the review tho! I'm thinking of getting a 7 inch version (no open dashboard) without CarPlay/Android Auto and put a Carlinkit CPC200 dongle in the back for wireless CP/AA. Saves costs for the same practicality.
@@woutervanwijk4369 i took no offense and agree its what people are used to. I have always had an iphone and never had any issues with the os. Im also not very tech savvy so i dont benefit from the advanced things you can do with an android os lol i will say tho, i put this same head unit in my work vehicle (the ml55 in some of my videos) and have nothing but good things to say about it!
