I bought a head unit with the same chipset for 50 euros in 2019, and I was happy with it considering the price! It only had 1 GB of RAM though. Eventually seemed to get slower and slower, perhaps because apps get more demanding as time progresses. In any case, served its purpose for many years.

I have one of the high end units with the UIS7862 CPU and 6gb ram in my car and it flies. The unit cold boots very fast and the audio quality is waaay better than the stock unit (DSP is amazing in a car). The GPS is a bit finicky. I need to reboot the unit once in a while because it doesn't pick up reception. Overall if you pick up one of these high end models they make great car stereos.
Post a video with some games! You can set most head units to quick boot, since even the fastest ones take 8+ seconds to boot. It is otherwise it's too slow to use the backup camera. Just make sure you have a newish battery or drive your car often.
Thank you for this video. I wanted one of these for one of my vehicles. and it's actually something worth considering since that vehicle isn't worth that much, and having this would add some pretty important functions. IE GPS. Considering i get lost easily. It would need to support extended storage through a usb hub, powered or non, doesn't matter as i can wire that up myself.
Correct if you have a stock sound system these are.... Ok at best. If on the other hand you have a factory upgraded sound system with amps and subs, or even worse a custom setup, these typically output a trash signal for your amps, which in turn boost the already garbage signal to your nice/expensive woofers/tweeters. Tablet functionally they're fine. It's the AUDIO side why it's $150 headunit and not $400-$500 headunit.
@@mayo8472 That does look good. It's twice the price though. And i'm struggling to find the specs for the android hardware, ie what cpu, ram storage it has. Since i don't want a unit that i need to use with android auto, i'd want a unit that has all that built in.

Fyi - JVC / Kenwoods newer head units directly connect inline with your obd and canbus wiring to give you a similar experience but likely more reliably. About 4-5 times the cost though.
I have an older Android car stereo in my car now (Android 4.2) and would love a reasonably priced upgrade. I would love to see more of these type of reviews from your channel. Keep up the great videos.
I'd be interested to see how this holds up more long term. That's always my fear with these products and the heat I have in my state. Car manufacturers spend hundreds of thousands testing internal electronics and screens to be sure they can hold up to the extremes of vehicle vibration/heat and I have a feeling these manufacturers do not. Even with the investment, some OEMs have faults like the Tesla screen issue or bmw/Lexus screen issues come to mind in recent history.
Well for what it's worth, I've had an even older Android radio from out of China I installed into my blazer four years ago and it worked surprisingly well in the high humid heat of KY. In winter though when it got really cold, around 20 degrees or lower the screen capacitive touch was very finicky until the heater got temps back up. But the apps themselves worked just fine. I finally updated the radio simply because the only real downfall to many of these is getting updates on these is almost non existent unless you get one from a very well known company that is known to support their android radios with software/firmware updates and they usually cost a bit more for it. I don't think car manufacturers themselves are testing it like you say unless they are making the devices in house. But whoever the manufacturer is for the device before it reaches the car manufacturer indeed has prior and I can almost guarantee that most of your factory radios is made of parts from China too. 🤷
As with anything this is the beginning of the next generation of radio units and it will get better. You can't expect an iPad performance from a $100.00 system. Look at the bright side you can download spotify, Sirius xm without a Sirius xm receiver unit, RUclips, Netflix and Prime, Waze, Google Maps, etc. Now since when could you get those in a radio?
If you can get a double-din dash panel I used a KKmoon K5980 in my old Jeep and Android Auto worked wonders. The only thing to be aware of is the length of the USB cable; The stock cable from the head unit is about 6 feet, which is great if you need it to reach the side of the dash but if you're putting it closer I would suggest shortening the cable if you can, or limit the amount of extensions/adapters used. I had my stock cable plugged into a short 6-inch panel mount extension so it would look clean. But, that limited me to only being able to use USB cables 12" or under. It ended up not being a problem for me as there was a pocket to store my phone right there, but it is something to be aware of.
this is the ticket if you care about audio quality and you want speed and you just want to have everything just work you even get Bluetooth audio controls such as volume and of course music navigation. some of the Samsung tablets actually support HDMI like my Samsung Tab 3 20s and I've used the HDMI output for a lot of cool things in my car. I've used a redmi 9 C to a USB dock to a topping AD-10 and the sound quality and of course everything else is just dead silence there's literally no Distortion from the topping DAC and it's just over the top wonderful! an outboard DSP that takes USB input is simply the way to go if you are using Amazon HD. Download all the songs from Amazon to a SD Card, and its Heaven! the most expensive part of your system is usually the speakers the installation and of course the DSP but the amplification part that's as cheap as peanuts as you can get a great performance dual amplifier for less than $109 and it has the specs that literally trounces on just about everything out there on the market.
I think something like this is perfect for my old 95 ford pick up, especially for the back up cam. Plus i can replace the dead fosgate unit and have music again
Back it 2007 I bought a 2005 F-150 and put in a cheap from china in dash DVD player/stereo which was all the rage at the time. I'd get this in a second!@! thanks!
Also, my prior truck was a 1995 f-150 with a playstation 2 in the dash:) and a little flip up screen in the top of the dashboard, at the time it was cool haha
I would agree, I would only recommend this only if you want radio and local video playback. For the size scree I would insist on 1080p. But thanks for letting us know your recommend minimum CPU specs for a head unit. O am looking out for more like these 😊
Put one in my 1996 Plymouth Voyager (factory radio failed), 1964 Valiant, and 1965 Dart with backup camera in all ($100 total). Doesn't seem powerful enough to run Android Auto, at least I haven't been able to load it, even with "Head Unit Reloaded" app. But Phone-Mirror is supposed to work (haven't tried). For GPS, it seems you need a wireless connection to download your current location. Other than for a radio, for me it is best to put the smart phone screen on the dash, especially for GPS. I used it in my 1960's cars because standard DIN radios won't fit without hacking a big hole in the metal dash. This box is thin enough to not stick out far from the dash and required not molesting the dash (just ran bolts thru the radio knob cutouts to secure the mounting plates.

You can find car harnesses at most retailers pretty easily and especially easier online. You got the right idea though! I hate when folks just cut out the harness and straight wire the radio in!
Absolutely! We added Android Auto, backup cam, and steering wheel controls to partner's 4th gen 4Runner over the summer. I think the head unit was $400, and by the time we were done, it was probably $800 in camera, steering wheel adapter, antenna adapters, splices, and OEM-look back panel breakout dohickeys so we wouldn't have pigtails hanging out anywhere.
I got this exact one broken for 20€, it needed a new amplifier chip for 5 and fixing a few cables. I installed it in my ´07 toyota yaris, changed the stock launcher to launchair and installed the paid version of headunit reloaded, this way I can use wired/wireless android Auto! TBH Android Auto works a lot better on this than it does on our 2021 Skoda!

I suppose depends on the vehicle for my preference. Though I do like double din when it comes to these style radios. My Blazer had the odd craptastic 1.5 din which I converted to a proper double din.
@@DailyCorvid I'm only good if the opportunity exists lol. For the Blazer it's odd. They came factory with 1.5 din radios so you had to have an adapter to replace a 1din radio in. But the space for the radio itself is actually closer to 2din. The issue in my case was there is a plastic piece that is used as a support for the back of the factory radio that had to be cut down and just a few cm cut around the edges. This is with the trim taken off mind you. The trim piece though that goes over the radio though is 1.5din. The trick to that? Find the same color trim from a Bravada lol. They essentially were the step child of the Blazer using a lot of the same parts and color interiors except they came factory with 2din radios meaning their trim that also fit Blazers, also gave Blazer the proper 2din factory look. I wouldn't say I'm a professional or anything, far from it. I just like to tinker with things and if I can make something work and have it look like its supposed to be there, I'll do it 😊. Edit to add further reply: And indeed these radios could be used in different ways like you suggest for a bathroom wall. Simply need a 12V DC power source which wouldn't be hard at all to obtain.
I have had a Joying Android unit for about 4 years and I do like it but it's showing it's age now, it'll run torque or maps/waze alone ok but not both. Thanks guys
For a project cars? My friend's Audi SQ7 2021 GPS system is awful and the touchscreen yeah responses sometimes on writing. Definitely he's not about to change it because the car is too expensive, not that OEM head unit is worth it. So if you got the skills and this fits your "modern car", then why not. I've seen many of this Android units kicking butts.

The wavelink the wifi runs in wont determine speed 5ghz va 2.4 unless the area you're in is flooded with 2.4 devices. All it does is decrease static similar to when 2 radio starions are very close in number to each other and you get interference
I wish this Android touchscreen car stereo to have at least Dimensity 700/720 chipset with 5G or 4G-enabled connection, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage and hybrid SIM slot. Sure, this thing is not meant for gaming or streaming but with the desired spec I mentioned, it should be more than enough for Google Maps or Waze navigation especially when driving on the countryside.
Those navigation apps dont need that much spec wise though. My 1GB ram HU runs maps and waze just fine. The ram constraint starts to show itself in other apps though. I think that HU he had was just poorly optimized.
I have thought about one of these to replace the scion navigation unit I have. My unit needs a $100 DVD from the dealer to upgrade maps, and because of where I live I can never get accurate results because it is spread across 3 regions that load up separately. What also makes an Android HU so appealing is the torque app, but you need a legit OBD Bluetooth scanner for best results.
@@bepbep7418 I have used them too, but from my understanding the polling rate is better on legit ones plus other stuff. Elm 327 sent their stuff to China for production which got copied. What if? Split the screen and motherboard (with all connections aux and so on) . Get long lcd ribbon cable, install the screen on the dash and connect it neatly the motherboard with that long ribbon stashed somewhere under the dash. Is it feasible at all? 2GB ram or higher for sure. I have a 1GB ram Android HU that uses the Intel Sophia chip so it's cpu has a bit more muscle but some apps still can lag because of the ram constraint. Updating to a 2GB ram HU though in a few days.

Manual 2.5 with the symmetrical AWD. Skid plates and ground clearance slightly higher than a 96 jeep cherokee I used to have. Also had a roof rack for skiing I think, maybe just bikes not sure. I'll have to see if a unit like that will work in my 2000 toyota corolla. Other things near the radio and such
For me it's always been Pioneer! I did my first car stereo install in my 99' Camaro, and my current 2015 Camaro. I'm currently rocking a Pioneer AVH-2300NEX. The whole installation probably set me back almost $1,000. But I'm using the factory XM antenna, A/C, GPS, backup camera, steering wheel controls, and microphone! Not a lot of installs go through the trouble of rewiring in or buying adapters to do that! I've also got HDMI to RCA to cast my phone or gaming device to the head unit, if I want through the glove box.
Next step is to get an aftermarket amp (to replace the factory one) and sub to give it more of a punch in sound! I mean it sounds really good now, but that little extra goes a long way..

I just installed an A-sure K42-W7-101, the functions are fine for what I want but the icons down the left hand side let this unit down. The power on / off button is unresponsive until it's tapped about 10-15 times, same goes with the volume icons. I paid just under £100 so don't know if the problem is that it's cheap and unreliable, or if it has a problem with responding, calibrating the screen didn't work so going to do the factory reset to try and resolve it.

This was such a high quality video! Please do more Automotive Head Units on your channel!
I have had these types of head units for a few years now. I had issues with the bluetooth but always changed the stock rom. Sellers were very nice always and provided the stock rom for them. Very good and was more please with theese, compared to the stock 2023 ford focus big diplay units. Never buy under 4 gb of ram. The GB was brutally slow, but the 4 gb worked briliant. Now waiting for delivery for another one for my wife's car.
This unit has 2GB RAM ( 3:39 ) and it is good enough for car functions, 4GB and a better CPU would be better for navigation
@@infinitydreamzz I just bought this unit. Is there anything one can do to improve it prior to installing it? I have an iPhone and mainly bought it to use CarPlay but if I can use it for other things I wouldn’t mind taking advantage of it. Thanks in advance for any insight.

@@infinitydreamzz Thanks again for the insight and fast response. One last question….. after watching this video I did some research and found out that there’s one unit identical to this one with 4GB (RAM)+64GB (ROM) instead of this one which has Memory:2GB (RAM)+32GB (ROM). Is the additional RAM worth it? Thanks again!
Thank you so much! I was trying to make my radio work but couldn't find the Amps required, thanks to you I tried it with 3amps and it works! Definitely deserves a sub!
I bought a head unit with the same chipset for 50 euros in 2019, and I was happy with it considering the price! It only had 1 GB of RAM though. Eventually seemed to get slower and slower, perhaps because apps get more demanding as time progresses. In any case, served its purpose for many years.
I have an eonon branded android unit for my 13 Mazda 3. I think it's a great unit and does the job for me. Throwing it out there in case someone's in the market for one
@@dllemm i think these HU goes in deep sleep so it doesn't have to cold boot, thus higher battery drain.
I love all your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
Always saw these and figured I could adapt it into a wall unit for some smart features on my house
You should look at the Boss Elite BE10APC. It also has 110.1" screen for $299
@@mayo8472 That does look good. It's twice the price though. And i'm struggling to find the specs for the android hardware, ie what cpu, ram storage it has. Since i don't want a unit that i need to use with android auto, i'd want a unit that has all that built in.
@@bepbep7418 I use an aftermarket system that is quite large..I run the signal through a dsp to my headunit and use galaxy tab and it sounds amazing..🤷🏾♂️
I want one of these for my 350z so i can use Torque Pro while on the racetrack to monitor and log some data!
That’s one of the main reasons I wanted it, I did a JDM ej205 swap and have a Cobb access port but wanted a bigger screen and a little customization
@@ETAPRIME If you do come across one of these android decks that is good, please let us know! Really helps with decision making when buying. I'm glad your a tech/car guy like me lol
I have one made by a company called “Joying”. I have a ‘17 WRX and it’s decently modded as well. I haven’t tried connecting my car’s diagnostics to it, as I have the access port for that, but definitely something I’ll look into.
Fyi - JVC / Kenwoods newer head units directly connect inline with your obd and canbus wiring to give you a similar experience but likely more reliably. About 4-5 times the cost though.
@@ETAPRIME using it for Torque etc is fine, it's the audio output that's typically trash on those android head units.

I've had one in my f150 for 3 years and it still works fine.
My touch screen fell off cuz the heat an it fried the chip for the ac that came with the face plate
I've got one in my little Mitsubishi Lancer. Fit was weird but I made it work. It's been goin strong for 12000 miles.
I think mine is 4g though
As with anything this is the beginning of the next generation of radio units and it will get better. You can't expect an iPad performance from a $100.00 system. Look at the bright side you can download spotify, Sirius xm without a Sirius xm receiver unit, RUclips, Netflix and Prime, Waze, Google Maps, etc. Now since when could you get those in a radio?
If you can get a double-din dash panel I used a KKmoon K5980 in my old Jeep and Android Auto worked wonders. The only thing to be aware of is the length of the USB cable;
The stock cable from the head unit is about 6 feet, which is great if you need it to reach the side of the dash but if you're putting it closer I would suggest shortening the cable if you can, or limit the amount of extensions/adapters used.
I had my stock cable plugged into a short 6-inch panel mount extension so it would look clean. But, that limited me to only being able to use USB cables 12" or under. It ended up not being a problem for me as there was a pocket to store my phone right there, but it is something to be aware of.
I ordered this radio like 2 minutes into your video this thing is awesome looking
Tablet plugged into a DSP is the way to go. If u can go tablet usb to usb on the DSP (digital and using the DAC in the DSP) even better.
this is the ticket if you care about audio quality and you want speed and you just want to have everything just work you even get Bluetooth audio controls such as volume and of course music navigation.
some of the Samsung tablets actually support HDMI like my Samsung Tab 3 20s and I've used the HDMI output for a lot of cool things in my car.
Plus i can replace the dead fosgate unit and have music again
make sure to get an external amplifier you're going to need it
Back it 2007 I bought a 2005 F-150 and put in a cheap from china in dash DVD player/stereo which was all the rage at the time. Mine however had all sorts of extra features that played mp3s and videos off basically any media you could plug into a usb. Was 200$ at the time and comparable options at best buy were 1500$ . I'd get this in a second!@! thanks!
Also, my prior truck was a 1995 f-150 with a playstation 2 in the dash:) and a little flip up screen in the top of the dashboard, at the time it was cool haha
The fact that this can play mine craft, even if it's only on low settings, makes this a cool little thing to mess with.
true! and it handles any gameboy emulation, this is perfect if a passenger needs a little distraction!
I would agree, I would only recommend this only if you want radio and local video playback. For the size scree I would insist on 1080p. But thanks for letting us know your recommend minimum CPU specs for a head unit.
O am looking out for more like these 😊
Dude, insist on 1080p? I have 1080p 65 inch tv. It's not that important, unless you are a fan of watching movies on 9 inch screen
Just got this one for $7 at a Amazon Resale store brand new to install in my mom's car for her birthday in 2 weeks. She likes my backup camera in my car so I figured I'd give her one in hers...plus I can play games from the passenger seat on trips lol
Thanks, you've convinced me to stick with my phone for GPS navigation. I can't find a decent head unit with navigation without spending a ton of money
I've heard the 4gb units are pretty fast and was recommended to never buy the 2gb. The ones I've seen seem alot better than this, including the display setup and its abilities. Not saying they are top notch, but not as bad as this
I have a 8 gb unit. It never lags. Only disappointment: it can’t emulate gran tourismo 3 and 4 without lag. Most ps2 games work perfect.
I play ps2 and netflix when i am parked lol.

Just got mine off Amazon on sale for $90 now goes for $160 but I’m going to put it in this week I’m hoping can’t wait I’ve always wanted one since I’ve bought my beater 2005 Elantra for work in Dec 2021…
I've been looking into these HU's but the installation is a pain and buying the exact wiring loom to make everything work is harder than rocket science.
Power and speakers shouldn’t be to hard but backup camera and all the little extras are a pain for sure
Get the Metra harness for your car from Crutchfield.
That's why you pay people to do it for you.
Been looking for an android head unit. Thank you for the information. Please do more if you can.
I ordered one in the same housing, I'll be seeing how long it takes or if it even ships.
It's got a UIS7862 SoC 8-cores, 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, 720p 10.1" QLED display.
It cost around $325 US and very close to $400 shipped, not gonna be playing games on it but hopefully it'll do turn-by-turn GPS navigation and Spotify while being buttery smooth.
There are two headunits in this category that come to mind for me.
Teyes CC3 and ownice k7..
That's the one I'm thinking about picking up. How's the sound? Does android auto work wirelessly,
Works great as a car stereo audio video player , better than my 8 hundred dollar alpine . I CAN PLAY ANY MUSIC VIDEO OR MOVIE I WANT TO FROM USB STICK. LOADED APK THAT HAS BUILT IN 10 BAND EQ. The preloaded map navigation works great and is very fast. SOUND QUALITY IS SUPERB WITH MY EPICENTER AND ORION HCCA AMPS. I WILL NEVER USE ANYTHING LESS THAN ANDROID CAR STEREO . P.S. ITS NOT A GAMING CONSOLE.
So it's bad for a sound system

for the price, its leaps and bounds above factory headunits
Holy shit..That thing is FAST. I've just paid over twice that price for an XTRONs PSP90F2F (Android 10 Quad Core 2GB RAM 32GB ROM) It can take over 10 seconds for any app to respond after touching the screen, even with nothing running in the background!
I have one now I'm glad I got this
Loved the Review. But Still Prefer the Single Din Stereos
Edit to add further reply:
And indeed these radios could be used in different ways like you suggest for a bathroom wall. Simply need a 12V DC power source which wouldn't be hard at all to obtain.
How about the likes of Android Auto or carplay? Is it any good connect a device to it, via Wireless/bluetooth or cable?
5:10 the equalizer is only this?? or you can get more audio's option??
I have had a Joying Android unit for about 4 years and I do like it but it's showing it's age now, it'll run torque or maps/waze alone ok but not both. Thanks guys

For a project cars? My friend's Audi SQ7 2021 GPS system is awful and the touchscreen yeah responses sometimes on writing.
Definitely he's not about to change it because the car is too expensive, not that OEM head unit is worth it.
So if you got the skills and this fits your "modern car", then why not. I've seen many of this Android units kicking butts.
100% would watch more head unit videos, curious how much or little you could spend to get an actually legit emulation setup for your car.
Yes definitely me too!
I got one it’s great, came with reverse camera and DAB+ too and a canbus interface. I’d like to have seen a bit more focus on the relevance to a car and not the gaming as that’s not what these are about.
Actually looking for install video. But honestly great video very detailed. If you like electronics it's worth the watch. Wish I watched this before I bought it lol.
If your building a high quality sound system this radio might work. But I would spend a lil more lettuce on a better one
I've never once thought about an Android-based car radio for emulation - sweet!

Been using Torque Pro for YEARS now with a $10 ELM 327 module.
@@bepbep7418 I have used them too, but from my understanding the polling rate is better on legit ones plus other stuff. Elm 327 sent their stuff to China for production which got copied. Elm 327 knock offs spoof higher revisions, but are all basically version 1.0. If you use the torque app with their custom gauges then you will want it to poll OBD II data as fast as possible.

You better show us that Subaru after you finish it ETA! Would love to see it!
What if? Split the screen and motherboard (with all connections aux and so on) . Get long lcd ribbon cable, install the screen on the dash and connect it neatly the motherboard with that long ribbon stashed somewhere under the dash. Is it feasible at all? It looks like this unit is a perfect candidate for this silly idea? Similar to desktop PC, screen on the desk, and the whole cable mess under it.

Top tip, get the higher spec unit. Mine has 1GB of Ram and it sucks on running any apps.
2GB ram or higher for sure. I have a 1GB ram Android HU that uses the Intel Sophia chip so it's cpu has a bit more muscle but some apps still can lag because of the ram constraint.
Updating to a 2GB ram HU though in a few days.

tbh when we are talking about a in car stereo system the cheapest part is the head unit, in my experience the sub woofers and the tweeters are the most expensive part
Amps/batteries are by far the most expensive part in competition audio.

can you turn the screen off while everything else is still on (just the screen)?
Does it have any RCA Outputs for connecting a amp?

Manual 2.5 with the symmetrical AWD. Skid plates and ground clearance slightly higher than a 96 jeep cherokee I used to have. Also had a roof rack for skiing I think, maybe just bikes not sure.
I'll have to see if a unit like that will work in my 2000 toyota corolla. Other things near the radio and such
appreciate the info , would be great to do a video talking about something better and Also including Sound Quality testing
My fear is that every car that has an OEM touchscreen system built in will all end up like this turd anyway. For me, it's Kenwood.
Nice to know cheap options like this exist. I despise the fancy uconnect turd that's in the car I drive.

What do U think is the best bang for the buck for a 10incb screen will be using Apple Iv been eye balling the jvc but that’s 1300 and it’s for a Jeep might be fooling to spend that much on a soft top car.
