- Zero Waste Exchange - join our hygge Lifestyle Swap Party in Copenhagen, Denmark! Bring items you don't use, need or love. Place on tables according to item (clothes, kitchenware, books, kids toys, sports equipment, etc). Take home whatever you like - there is no limit! We have a rule that you must try things on to make sure they fit. It's helpful to have several mirrors on hand. Bring along a drink or food to share - make it hygge! And everyone helps to pack up/drop off the donations afterwards. We donate everything left over to a women's or men's shelter, charitable organisation or book exchange. I would bring a pile of cutlery that has been hibernating in our garage for yrs. DH recently brought it in, and it went through the dishwasher. Now it rests on a towel in the kitchen ....
I would tell myself sternly to take nothing home ... except for some books perhaps, and if I found the right pair of dark blue jeans or black boots ... and the Danish Rye bread!
Books; a festive top or dress; kitchen gadgets.
I feel like the marmite teapot needs to be a mascot piece for each party. Serve a beverage from it at your meal and the person who hosts the next swap party takes it with them. Like passing on the Olympic torch.

My lovely sister Margaret and I are planning to start swop parties here in Northern Ireland but she has been really sick in intensive care for the last while...she's diabetic and suffers severe complications. Please remember her in your prayers as she is my best friend as well as my older sister and I depend on her strength of character to help me face life when my more mousey character needs a bit of a push. The pandemic is still very much with us here and puts a damper on everything causing a lot of worry and stress for all generations and we have the added difficulties caused by Brexit so people are not as well off as before or are worried about security of employment inflation heat and power costs etc....I think swop parties would be a great boost to any community and can only do good for our environment as well. God bless you Diane and all those kind ladies who let us enjoy your parties wherever we are.
You know I absolutely love your clothes swap videos (I've lost track of how many I've watched :) ! This had such a festive feeling (Viebeke's home always makes me think of the holiday craft videos you've done there) and such a sweet, lovely people vibe. And your honoring Sue's mother by giving that scarf a new home was so touching. I came away from watching this with such a good feeling. Thank you for all the time you spend putting together these wonderful videos for your 'friends' around the world. Love across the miles

By inspiration of you I did a swap party with my friends in Minnesota USA. It was a huge success! The stories that came from the party were so fun! A friend of mine needed a new towel bar in her bathroom and she grabbed my cast off and hung it up.

It is so good to see your country recover from covid. I am in New England and we are still pretty bogged down. Gives me hope. We are visiting our friend tonight. We are all vaccinated but it is a first in a long time. So excited. We are watching Wheel of Time and having sweet potato stew. I made a super hot salsa, I grew the peppers. And vegan queso. Looking forward to a weekend of football and reading.

How nice to be at Vibeka’s! So festive! We had a day of outdoor decorating since we had a brief lull in the weather. Hubs is dropping off all our cards at the post office this afternoon. I am half way making two wreaths, to be continued tomorrow. Our outside Alpine Christmas tree is bright with colored lights He likes colors while i prefer white lights so I get to have the white ones on the smaller indoor tree. I dry orange slices, make a peanut garland, and bake ginger cookies to deck the tree- so that will be next few weeks.

You could give it a try as friends usually have clothes from when they were bigger or smaller stashed away in the wardrobe using up space. You may be surprised what is put in the mix on the day. 😊

You have said that your children have their own flats. Is that the case for all Danish people. If it is how does everyone afford to buy homes for their children. My children are teens and we could never afford to do that. Also how do the teens afford to keep these homes warmed etc. Just wondering how other countries do things. Love your videos. Wish we had clothes swaps in this country too.
Hi Sylvia! We bought the apartments for our kids (the best way to invest our savings). Kids in education here receive housing grants (part of the Danish system).
@@DianeinDenmark Thanks Diane. Its good that you can do that. It gives them their own independence. What a good government you have that cares for their young rather than like the UK where it burdens them with debt trying to get an education so that it makes it nearly impossible for them to be able to afford their own homes. On the positive side I will have my children at home with me longer.😊
I love the whole clothes swap party idea. And the fact that you get social time too. Maybe I'll organize one myself. And I love the attitude of the Danes toward nudity. Mind you, my friends would never criticize me and I never would them but, stripping off in a public place (such as when you go for your sea swims) would open a person up to ridicule here in North America.
