He is honest and did tell her he didn’t want to marry her on this trip on the phone before he left, but he said it softly and didn’t push it. He is very direct and loves her dearly. I believe him when he says he will come back soon and marry her.

I know…it seems people aren’t remembering what he said and why he didn’t tell her up front. Matilda jumped the gun and went ahead with planning a wedding…I think she thought because he’s autistic she could manipulate him somewhat. Never did the traditional marriage protocol unfold, no bride price has been established…she thinks Americans are rich and everything would go to her way. She embarrassed herself…even her mother in the first episode didn’t seem gung-ho with the marriage.
I could be wrong but her desire to come to the states is first in her mind! Not condoning him but she assumes a lot and he’s too scared to communicate rightfully. There’s a fakeness about her even if I’m the only one who sees it!
I think with every season TLC sinks a little lower.
He tried to tell her before he went over there and she wouldn't listen and instead of asking why, she told him not to disappoint her. Seems like everyone one is forgetting he has a challenge and might not behave like the majority.
That is so embarrassing now her entire community is going to look unfavorably towards her and her family. She is not using him she seems to genuinely love him. I think she is showing way more affection and love that we have seen in years from 90 Day cast members.
He had to know she was planning the wedding.
For him to not communicate that he wanted to wait, it’s unacceptable. It’s not laying a good foundation for a marriage. What else could he possibly blindside her with? 😮💜
Disagreeing in Ghana is seen as being difficult or having a temper so I would take her brother saying that with a pinch of salt.

@garybowes3081 nah, it seems like she is pressuring him into marrying as quickly as possible. And spending 80 dollars on a skirt in Ghana?!?!? Why didn't she take him somewhere cheaper? If she doesn't appreciate that he works hard for his money and isn't trying her best to enrich him rather than impoverish him, then she's not wife material, and that's not love.
MovingMAD you need to see the videos where Matilda is pressuring Niles and he is trying to push back. I know a lot of people have a good opinion about Matilda but I have a bad feeling there are other reasons why she is pushing for the wedding asap…. I hope I am wrong, but this is a big decision and nobody should be forced to make that decision. He is a very polite and well mannered man who find it hard to say no to people who are so confident like Matilda.
If we are being realistic, it's taken them three years to meet. If I was in Matilda's position I'd also push for a wedding cause who knows when they'll meet next. And Niles already proposed but now turning around and saying they should get to know each more before getting married? It seems like he only proposed to make Matilda happy and not because he wants to get married. And he never made it clear in the clip his reasons for not wanting the wedding

Niles should have been clear before he got to Ghana that they were not getting married. He bought a cheap ring and balked at that $80 skirt, so where is the dowry money coming from? He can easily delay the wedding by being broke 😂 🤦🏾♀️.

Matilda misled herself. She read what she wanted to hear into what Niles said. She seems very pushy, shallow and materialistic urging him to buy her things and hurry up and get married when they barely know each other. The fact that Niles is committed, but wants to take things slow, and has his 20 rules that he lives by shows me he's very thoughtful and does not like confrontation. He's a good man, but she just sees herself as the "star" of a huge wedding and proud holder of a green card.
Maybe Matilda shouldn't have bragged to everybody like she was somehow better than the rest of the community.
Niles is doing what most weak men do with girls they like, walking on eggshells and never telling them NO! He is now walking back his wording to change the timing to plan more. He could of saved himself the embarrassment and her to fame ignorance on Costs of wedding and bride price stating he didn't have the money yet.

you are absolutely right on this one. Niles is a good person but he lied with premeditation he should have told this before he got on the plane respect how she has taken this so far. Chidi is a completely different story it was made clear to her in advance and it was more convenient for Miles not to give the ring without him being honest because now she is indeed more confused. and you do not want to make Afro queen angry. this is completely up to him it is really his part in this hope that this would be a hard lesson for the future also for learning another culture that it is different from the western style because this is really deep shame after you take your plane to America she stays behind in her village hope he learns what impact this has on her standing in her community. this is really wrong

Niles has autism like Statler. He's doing what Statler did when she told Dempsey something before the trip and then denied it and changed the story and was gaslighting. I'm not saying gaslighting is a trait of autism like it is with narcissism. But they are apparently severely lacking in skills to deal with confrontation on issues like this.
When you have a man who is intimidated by a strong personality, he should realize he should walk away. Btw, that is his issue, not hers. She is showing herself . She wants to get to the U.S. I think this could have been a mutually beneficial relationship. I think she would have been loyal to him, if a bit bossy.
