Recently I've been feeling really old... So thanks for compounding that by saying you were only 7 when the PS2 came out. I'm off for a little cry.... Nah, seriously though, the PS2 was, and in many ways still is, a fantastic console. I first had a silver phat model, but I sold that to buy a Japanese PSP day of launch. I still kind of regret doing that because I loved that PS2 and I really never got on with the PSP. I still have it mind, all original and would you believe the og battery is still fine? Amazing bit of kit, even if I don't really play it now. After selling the phat I got the slim at launch, I just couldn't live without a PS2 tbh. I had my motorbike and was working nights in security and I remember thinking how much easier it was getting the slim in my bag than the phat which weighed a metric ton! And I do still have that very console and it still works flawlessly! I'm so very, very ancient now (😜) that I can't remember what my first PS2 game was, but it was probably either Ratchet and Clank or that terrible Spyro game that felt like playing through treacle. Utterly awful experience. I only keep it because it's part of my Spryo collection and I'd have a permanent itch at the back of my brain if I sold it! But that first R&C game, oh man, that was pure joy! I've been a fan ever since. Even the worst one is still enjoyable. I've got every single PS2 game I ever bought and it's still my largest game collection for any console I own, only the X360 comes close, with the PS3 not far behind. Anyway, that's my experience of the PS2. You'll have to prise that thing out of my hands before shoving me in the oven because I will never, ever sell it! Thanks for sharing your views, it's so nice hearing someone younger than me extolling the virtues of what most consider a long-dead system. Thanks for that! Also, you don't look 30, I genuinely thought you were about 20!
Oh goodness haha xD Sorry about that 🤣 I guess videos like this show the PS2 touched us all from all walks of life & I'm thankful I got to experience a lot of cool games despite my young age at the time 😁 You definitely played some good games there & I also assume the PS2 kept you busy for some time! Haha 20 xD I do get this a lot to be honest & I think sometimes it actually makes people mistakenly believe I'm not as mature as I appear to be!
Great video! The PS2 is probably my favorite console. I've been dipping back in recently via emulation and am having a great time. It's also very fun listening to other people's memories, so thanks for sharing! Hello from the US. :)
I love my PS2's & 22 years of it has been nothing short of excellent:) The emulation scene has really evolved & PS2 is in a great place for those wanting to revisit or try it out for the first time :)
Great video. Really showed the passion. I was older than you so I bought my PS2 in 2001 with my first two paychecks from my part time job. I too didn't understand the importance of RGB scart.

I actually never played on a ps2 back when it was out. I had an xbox and so did one of my very close friend. My half brothers had a ps2 and watched them play when they came on the weekends but never agot to play. It wasn't until 2 years ago I bought myself a PS2. And now I'm playing through the games that interest me.
