    In general, your care with subduing the uncontrolled movement of the rope tails whenever you're pulling through a hitch or knot is something I wish more would mimic. Those tail knots whipping at the end of a 30ft section can be brutal when not controlled. #SSC

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  3 года назад +3

      Yeah, they can really make an impact, so to speak.
      There are two ways I like to help control that failing: (1) to move rope like a stick so that one hand is holding the ends as the other hand pulls the rope through, thereby preventing the fail, and (2) putting one hand between your partner and the rope at the pull through point as the other hand is pulling the rope through.
      2 is good because it lets *you* be the one that will experience the rope burn, plus your hand is right there to help control the ends as they get close.
      1 is good because you have greater overall control, but you can really only do this when you have less than an arm span of rope left.
      For long ropes, I start with 2 and might transition to 1 depending on the situation...

      I posted this on another comment, but it is important:
      I would not recommend that you start with this if it is your partner's first experience with rope. Start instead with things that are fast and fun, but a bit less decorative and time consuming. I would recommend you start with a Wrap & Cinch Double column and a Load-Baring Double Column (both can be found for free here: www.theduchy.com/courses/rope-101/) and just tie them to the bed and tease them until they are squirming and begging for you to do more than tease... Just that simple of a scene can make for one hell of a fun evening...
      Note that having things take too long is a common critique heard from people new to rope. They want to just get on to the main event. Don't worry. This is very common and is expected. For some, it takes time to build the erotic association with the act of being tied. That association does often come with time however. They begin to associate the act of being tied with the sensations and experiences that they know come after*, at this point, the act of being tied itself can *become the foreplay and they begin entering an highly erotic zone with jus the feel of rope gently caressing their skin ... and then taking firm and irresistible hold of them...

    I found that when pulling on the “handles” the lines that circle the legs put quite a bit of pressure on the inner thighs. Aren’t there some delicate structures there like blood vessels that might not benefit from being pinched? Increased tension around the belly was also uncomfortable for my partner. Maybe we’ll stick to handles incorporated into chest harnesses.

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  4 месяца назад +1

      This sounds like you are making a wise and caring choice for your partner, well done. This tie works great for some people, but--as with any tie--it may not be the right choice for others. Whether this is suitable for a given person depends on that individual person.
      As for the nerves and blood vessels; there are several that run through there, but on most people they are deeper under the flesh that close to the torso (they get closer to the surface a few inches down the leg). But as long as there is not sustained significant pressure, this will not normally come in to play. This tie should not be tied super tight. Tight enough to stay put, but not tight enough so that the ropes are sinking deeply into the skin on their own (when you are not pulling on the harness). Momentary pressure is not typically a high risk for most people, but the the longer and tighter the pressure, the higher the risk. But, again, this doesn't really matter. If this does not seem to work for a given person, you are absolutely correct in choosing alternatives that do!

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  2 года назад +2

      For some reason, this harness lends itself to being pulled on *a'hem*; therefore, the ropes will be likely be rubbing on your partner at least a little; so unless rope burn is on your list of goals, a smoother, softer rope like nylon, MFP, bamboo, silk, coconut (JOKING, do not do this with coconut!), etc would be best for most people. As for amount of rope. that will vary quite a lot depending on your partner's build. So start with a longer rope (most kits have them at ~ 30' (9m)), but you can always just extend your rope if you need more... (Extending rope: www.theduchy.com/extending-rope/)

    Hey great video but was just wondering why wouldn't you just start with a single column tie instead of larks head? Wouldn't that just save having to lock it on way back? Hope u don't mind me asking

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  3 года назад +5

      It's totally fine to ask, no worries! Sharing ideas is how we all grow, right?
      - There is nothing whatsoever wrong with starting with a single column around the hips instead of the lark's head like I did here. The way I did it consumes just a little less rope and is a bit less bulky, but it isn't a big deal to add more if you need it. Starting with a SC would give you the advantage of a hard node to use as your initial turning point when running the rope from one leg to the other, but again, would add a little bulk. So I think the Lark's Head way would probably tend to be a bit sleeker, but the SC way could be built to be more rugged ... useful if you *really* want to toss your partner around. ;)
      - Another modification to consider is doing more than one wrap around the thigh. Again, a bit less sleek, but distributes the force across a larger area, which can have its benefits...

    What length do you use?

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  2 года назад +1

      This was 30' (9m) on this particular model, but you really can't use that as a gauge. Lengths change depending on the build of the person and the specific use to which a tie is put. So most riggers use standard lengths and just add more if they need more. Check out www.theduchy.com/extending-rope/ for a couple of useful techniques!

      On this model, I used one 30′ (~9m) piece of 1/4' (6mm) rope. But it is important to understand that the amount of rope needed will vary wildly with your partner's build.

      "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
      It depends on the people involved. For some, this is just an art. They do the rope, they take a picture, they remove the rope. For some, this is a type of physical attention, bringing them closer to their partner through physical contact, but that is all. For some, this is foreplay, for some, *heavy* foreplay. With this particular tie, you now have a set if strong handles on your partner's hips. I invite you to set your imagination free on what those might be used for...

      It can be great for getting a firm grip on your partner if you are wanting things to get ... vigorous...
      If that is what we want, I personally prefer the variant that has the handles positioned a little further back. You can find more about that version on the main tutorial page: www.theduchy.com/love-handles/

      either you're really bad at foreplay, or your partner wasn't really into it and bailed. you want to be the dominant in that encounter? tie their hands to the bedpost, begin the rope work, and if they complain...either a smack on the butt cheek, or a tickle depending on their preferences (don't forget the caresses, little nibbles, and audio play to build up the anticipation) until you finish the work. this is power and control vs. submission and compliance. Do it right, and your partner is yours....do it all wrong, and you would be better served solo with some lotion and tissue.

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  3 года назад +1

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  3 года назад +1

      Another quick note, having things take too long is a common critique heard from people new to rope. They want to just get on to the main event. There's nothing wrong with that. That is very common. For some, it takes time to build the erotic association with the act of being tied. That association does often come with time however. They begin to associate the act of *being* tied with the sensations and experiences that they know come *after*, at this point, the act of being tied itself can *become* the foreplay and they begin entering an highly erotic zone with jus the feel of rope gently caressing their skin ... and then taking firm and irresistible hold of them...

    • @LazarusRedmayne
      @LazarusRedmayne  Год назад

      They aren't surgical gloves, they are spandex. I wear them to make the details of what I am doing easier to see -- even those with various forms of vision impairment. This way every element has a different color and a different luminosity value. Such considerations may not be crucial for a tie that is as straightforward as this, but when there are many more lines or the angles and body positions make it difficult to get a clean shot, this approach is very helpful. I have gotten many positive comments on it because it enhances understanding.
