One of the best interior designs featured here that gives Singaporeans a different perspective. It is not a painstaking recreation of a certain "look" that is on trend at the moment. It is not minimalistic / industrial / japandi / mid-century modern or whatever genres you have out there. You'd be hard-pressed to find specific tropes and trends that oh-so-many owners have adopted in this apartment. What you will see is an expression + exploration of different textures and materials while leaving the rest of the design to age along with the inhabitants of the space. This is the aesthetic of living.
Wow thanks Calvin, this really puts the video into perspective! We're glad to bring in perspectives from outside that can be used in the local context to give Singaporeans here more inspiration :)
this is what good design is - designed around needs and behaviours, not lookbooks and pinterest boards. the attention and respect to materials is something not commonly seen in local designers - with a clear preference (and budget) for laminates, for example. But here, you don't get that sense that you choose a material for something that was designed, but it's part of the design. Which is what I admire.
For a moment, i thought this was an apartment in Taipei and not Singapore Particularly love the open concept balcony space that act as an walk way into the workstation/studio . this sort of concept is less commonly seen in SG and I love to meet home owner whom share same bold ideas of doing something out of the ordinary and not follow trends
Wow, I especially love that the entrance to their work studio is outside of their main living space. The walk out of their living room, through the outdoor balcony would really make it feel separate to their home. Brilliant concept.
Love how lived in the house looks, esp in their studio space. You can really see how they fill up the shelves with work materials. It’s not so posed or “new” and that’s what makes their home design practical.
It's not only an eye opening to all of us, but also an eye opening to the contractor who did the job for them too. So cozy... This is what the balcony should be ... Sitting there and enjoying the view, giving a peace of mine but of course no blocking view is always the best. If block Liao sure sien...
I literally watch it 2 times so i could capture the details i may hv missed out earlier 🤭 I love the concept and how the owners curated their profession and lifestyle into their home. Livng in HDB is never easy to incorporate a touch of nature, but the owners manage to cleverly do so. I felt so comfortable watching it and I am sure the owners enjoy and appreciate even more 😃 太棒了! 赞👍!
Astonishing design, I think by far one of the most unique HDB design that is worthy a like and share. Really intriguing is the balcony, they really went out of the box to design it to remove the windows! But I think the View would have even been more perfect if it's facing a forest or something! It's a really big place even with all the design and also acceptable if you have a family, lets say if you have kids, its also okay, because you still have 2 rooms, one master and one common bedroom.
Love the design and concept so much. I'm very touched the moment she says about bringing her chair designed and made in Taiwan all the way to Singapore so that she has a companion whenever she missed Taiwan. Nice work the Stacked Home team! Just love the series so much ❤. Thank you!
They are fully utilized all the space they have, it is functionable and in a good use. The small little garden is like a therapy after hectic daily activities.
I love the design of the living room. It feels spacious and relaxing. Sometimes simplicity and minimalism are the key to happiness. Excellent example of Less is more ❤️
Agree. I didn't even know you could just remove the windows from the HDB this way. Now that I do, if I get a corner lot HDB, I'd definitely incorporate this idea.
I love your apartment~ and i also really love how our foreign friends mostly end up with a singlish bit in their speech after living here for a while. Really ups the familiarity
You might have seen these type of glass doors in shopping mall stores, especially if the store is closed. When the store is open, they are moved and stacked in a corner, usually hidden by a partition.
Very nice video. Even the HDB footage doesn't look like the HDB view I see daily. I didn't know you could take out the window entirely and make it into a balcony? That actually increases the value of the unit. Cool design!
The balcony area is spacious..wonder if this is an EA or 5room flat? I like their concept for it. Natural and can grow plants and also sit around to chill with a coffee.
Ea size is 142+ this is 130+square older resale flat 5 room flat and is not that common also. Most 5 room are 120m square for that era. Now BTO 5 room flats are all 110m square.
Understanding how HDB units work in SG, I am curious how it managed rain water discharge coming in the new balcony. I don't think the the drain will go down one level since there would be a unit below.
Minimalist +lot natural light + relax vibe = excellent living environment. Only thing I dislike is the TV , I would replace it with a projector instead of a 3 legged stand , look unstable
Curious on the windows that were removed. 1 section of it is a balcony which I believed can be taken down. The other section is also a balcony? If not then how do you get the permit to take it down?
Just go to old blocks that has 5rooms in middle units and 4 rooms in the middle units. Those 4rooms in middle has corridor for people to pass to get to the lift or to downstairs. You will see the same thing. The only difference is the main door wall is not extended out.

I love what you said! I agree completely. The interior design shows their lifestyle, and they planned it in a way to benefit them.

Taiwanese home owners brought a new perspective to how they see interior designs.
Thanks for your kind words!

Exactly, they brought their style here and made it work so well. Thanks for watching!
You won't find homes that open to the outside like that in Taiwan unfortunately!
Wow, I especially love that the entrance to their work studio is outside of their main living space. The walk out of their living room, through the outdoor balcony would really make it feel separate to their home. Brilliant concept.
One of the best homes that truly represents the owners’ characters and living style, not just blindly following the trend.

Absolute breath of free air in Singapore's HDB design. Breathtaking

Love the Balcony design. 👍👍👍👍👍👍, indeed very rare and special in an HDB flat.
Indeed it is!

I love that they use raw textured designs
Its my fav. I like things organic too 🥺🥺🤍
This is truly a beautiful house that is fit to the living of the owners. Truly inspiring.
We agree! 🤩
I like the airiness and brightness of this design. Feels comfortable

Lovely. I really like what they did creating a balcony and open air space for themselves.

Mind blown 🤯 by the sliding/external glass patio doors. Trying to figure out how that’s even possible. Well done 👏 💯

Their tastes complement each other perfectly ❤
Indeed! 🥰
This interior is really unique! brilliant ideas!
Thank you for watching! 🙌🏻
Love the rectangular windows
😍
Very nicely designed. They brought out nature. Even the kitchen I believe they went for terracotta colour (and not red per se)
Thanks for catching that! They aimed for a natural vibe with the terracotta. 😊

Lovely couple and lovely house :)

beautiful
Wa. The alteration they did to this HDB apartment. They must have engaged a very experienced QP to endorse all the structural works
有点像日本的interior 😊
I love their house❤

This kind of 5room, the front door parts are either already balcony or the access corridor is bought.
Nice balcony
I love their balcony too. And the type of glass they use that can open up the whole area.
@@kitgoh9093 Only Jumbo flat can do that. a real 5 room max is 122meter square.
@@zhen86 the 5rm flat here is 134-139sqm
did not know you could do a balcony like that! Interesting
Well, just go to those old blocks, and you can see the difference between the middle units and corridor units.

Love the layout and vibes
It's quite well done!

Very nice but do they have any problems with heavy rain/wind? Especially since they live so high up. Any problems with the glass doors?
Love the balcony seem small but is quite long and cosy
the balcony is like a access balcony that leads to another unit.
Very stylish
It is stylish indeed 🥰

Hdb home windows can be taken down? Wow something new!
Yes if originally is balcony
Can I know where to buy the furniture? Dinning table and chairs.
