18:43 - kids in this country who come from families of privileged backgrounds, know how to speak in English because their parents can afford to send them to schools that follow the British curriculum. As children who were growing up here back in the 90s and the early 2000s, my little sister and I were lucky; we attended schools that follow the British curriculum. Both of us always caught the attention of the grownups in almost every social gathering… all because we interacted (spoke to one another) in English instead of our native language, Bengali. Back in those days, it was kind of rare to find Bangladeshi siblings, cousins or even close friends from privileged backgrounds interact or talk to each other in English. This is something the other kids (so many of our peers) often took for granted : despite attending schools that follow the British curriculum, they always spoke in Bengali 24/7. Talking in Bengali back in those days, was not allowed in schools that follow the British curriculum and yet, so many kids back in those days continued to break that one rule, causing the teachers to get mad at them. My little sister (who’s not so little anymore) lives in Canada at present while I’m still here in Bangladesh. She isn’t the only person in my family I talk to in English… I have two first cousins and three second cousins from my dad’s side of the family (one of them, who lives right across the border in India) as well as two first cousins from my mom’s side of the family (both the sisters who now, live in America) can also speak in fluent English and like my little sister and me, they were all lucky enough to have completed their education from schools that follow the British curriculum because their parents (my uncles and aunts) were able to afford it for them.
It feels great to have you here. I hope you’re enjoying what my country has to offer. Bangladesh’s doors will always be open for you. No other type of hospitality can ever beat the type of hospitality we have over here - the Bengali hospitality 🇧🇩
"kids in this country who come from families of privileged backgrounds, know how to speak in English because their parents can afford to send them to schools that follow the British curriculum."
Well in general, yeah. But not entirely.
Most British curriculum schools in Bangladesh are extremely unfathomably cheap, so it's not ideal to generalise privilege with British curriculum schools.
And yeah, nice story you have there.
Thank you for insight! I'm learning a lot as I travel the world! It makes sense with the two little ones speaking English as well as they did. They caught my attention because English was the only words and the first words I heard from them! They were very nice to talk to!
Thank you, it's been great here! I'm very happy I decided to come. I will definitely have to come back to see other cities and villages. I'm looking forward to returning!

আপনাকে স্বাগতম বাংলাদেশে❤😊
ধন্যবাদ
Bro dont mind the n-word (17:14), Bangladeshis use it for fun, there's no black white racism here. Bengalis themselves are mixed race, white brown, black. Even the white/brown friends use it just for fun, its more like "Bro" term here. Peace
They're kids it didn't bother me one bit. It surprised me and I got a laugh out of it
@TravelWithMuhamed yeah bro like Tupac said we use the term "nigga" like homeboy or homie or brother. Absolutely no racism.
@@TravelWithMuhamed bro we often use it in our country cause we were also colonized and Its a mixed race so you will find many people who may have darker skin color like darker than black people. And we use the word instead of 'friends'
Happy exploring!
I'm loving it here!
