      Hey Joe, on your instructional books that you promote on this lesson, or any of your books for that matter, do the books have tabs and diagrams, or are they all in musical notation? Thanks for your videos!

    Hey fellow Joe Hubbard students, and Joe! I have been doing Joe's 2-year course, started June 22 this year. Not even at 3 months in and it has literally not only transformed my bass playing, but my life. I'm 51, decided to start from scratch again after everything else failed to get me results. His wisdom about what works and what doesn't simply gets ironed out when you follow what he says closely. The ignore time when you are learning, saying the notes, writing out chords/changes/relationships, working the lessons over and over, and keep layering the ideas and coming back to: when you practice, you practice music. I have kids, work full-time, and all I want to do is get to the evening time when I can sit down and go over the arpeggios and lessons, through the cycle of descending fourths. It's meditation, it's music, it's life! I highly recommend his 2-year course. 10K subscribers! The best to you Joe, you are a great success and we all appreciate it.

    This is an excellent lesson Joe. Thanks. At 68 years old I was glued to the video. I played it over and over until I was able to capture the movement. Now I will continue to practice it to develop the fluidity.

    Thank you for the musical wisdom!
    I’ve always said that you spend years learning how to play your instrument but then you gotta learn how to play with PEOPLE

    Great inversion lesson.I then tried starting on the C 3rd fret A string and worked up to the 5th(G)) at 12th fret G string then worked my way down to the C 8th fret E string and on down to the 5th(G) 3rd fret E string.Great fun.

    awesome point about the over emphasis on the mechanics and not enough emphasis on listening to the sounds. i'm so guilty of that! you end up playing like a typewriter doing random sentences. There is a ton of wisdom in this vid. Thanks as always Joe.

    Excellent lesson Joe, really a great accompaniment to the Chord Tone Mastery book. It was clear, concise and gave me excellent direction. I was able to master the first exercise much more efficiently in all 12 keys as a result. Thank you, you are great at what you do!

    Wow, Joe, I think, in many ways, this might be my favourite tutorial of yours. Taking us through eight steps, and showing us how we can make full use of the exercises in the book is pure gold. I know I'll be watching this tutorial again several times over the coming months. Thank you so much. You deserve so many more subscribers.

    Great lesson Joe, that compliments the new book. My only question on the book order is why you started with minor 7 chords instead of major 7 chords. I'd like to know the method to the madness there!! I suppose that explanation could be a whole other video.

  • @sandywinnnerman2156
    @sandywinnnerman2156 5 лет назад

    What are the chords you are using for your backing tracks? I hear two chords but they don't sound like simple minor 7 chords. There's a more tension in those altered(?) chords. Do you use the same backing chords for the other chord types like dominant 7, major 7, minor 7b5, etc?

    • @JoeHubbardBass
      @JoeHubbardBass  5 лет назад +2

      Just a Min7th 4th voicing and right at the end of the phrase moving the 3rd and 7th up a 1/2 step to create some tension.

    You mention how players suck on stage. Actually, you suck at your videos: why do you need to put in every other minute to subscribe to your channel? It gives cognitive overload and takes focus away from the content of the videos. If someone wants to subscribe he/she does this without telling 10 times in a video.
