Twenty years before the launch of RUclips, tuning shops partnered with tuner magazines and illegal street racers in Japan to produce one of the most legendary viral car videos in history. The video would go on to cement careers, create massive media franchises, and ultimately resulted in an entirely new motorsport. And it was all done with one of the most unlikely cars anyone could have imagined at the time - the Toyota AE86. Who is “The Drift King” Keiichi Tsuchiya? How did drifting go from legitimate track technique to illegal underground activity and back to legitimate motorsport? And how did a small series of VHS tapes go on to change the automotive world forever? This is Past Gas - on Keiichi Tsuchiya and Pluspy, the viral car video that inspired a generation.

I don’t mean to be insensitive if this is too soon, but it would be amazing if you could do a podcast on Ken Block. Go from the drift king who started it all, to the drift king who elevated the sport to astronomical tire slaying heights

13:55 Nolan is referring to slip angle, where the contact patch of the tire is actually at a small angle relative to the rest of the tire, which is essentially maximizes the grip of the tire and allows you to carry more speed and follow a tighter radius through the corner

Beat me to it, explained it better than I could too, knew it was slip angle.

46:44 For those who wondering what James talks about, the name of this events called Ikasu Hashiriya Team Tengoku (いかす走り屋チーム天国) aka Ikaten (イカ天). It's literary translated as "Squid Street Racing Team Heaven", hence the squid is always the theme for this drift event.

IMSA is GTD Pro and GTD Am. They are both GT3 cars, and there is no Power difference between the 2 classes.

I'm with James on this one, Elon is what happens when nerds are put on pedestals. No matter how hard he tries he will always be a nerd, and that's cool because the world needs nerds.👊
