I know this video’s been up for years now, but as a newly “out” trans woman, I’m just sitting here bingeing this series with tears rolling down my cheeks. I’m only just now discovering who I am at age 41, and it’s both liberating and absolutely terrifying at the same time. That said, I’m so grateful for Laura’s music and the hard work and positivity she’s bringing to give back to the trans community-her book and her story have changed my life. Thank you so much for all that you do! Love and light to all of my trans folx, especially in these dark times-we’re in this fight together, they can’t erase us! 💜🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈💪
So sad to hear Laura's marriage didn't survive her transition. I hope she finds the full love and acceptance that she deserves from a partner. She inspires me daily.
C Cooke I don't think we should really put any blame on Heather. From what I have seen, she accepts Laura for who she is and isn't transphobic at all. It makes sense to me that having a partner transitioning would be extremely challenging for multiple reasons. Just to state one, if your partner does go through Sex Reassignment Surgery are you expected to change your sexual orientation to make the relationship work? As sad as it is that their relationship didn't work out, I believe that they are both great people and wish them both the best for the future.
Laura and her wife grew apart. They were soul mates, at one point, but arent any longer. Its nobodies fault...:)
+Nathan Cash I didn't see where C Cooke blamed Heather. Laura has said that being in a band and traveling all the time is extremely hard on a marriage. Then she also stated that when she first started transitioning she had a hard time with it and completely withdrew and said that is the main factor in causing their marriage to break down. She also stated recently that she and Heather are not in a very good place right now. They basically don't speak to each other. I have a feeling they only speak about when Laura gets Evelyn and that's it. It's very sad regardless. (I got all this information from a recent Marc Maron podcast interview with Laura)
I know this thread was from a year ago, but it seems Heather still at least has support for Laura and who she is, like when Rolling Stone published a topless photo of her without censoring her nipples, Heather put them on blast for basically disregarding her identity with the photo and the interview that went with it.
How dare the wife not be attracted to women. She absolutely accepted and loved Laura, but how dare she leave for someone she’s attracted to, which is an essential part of marriage

Only just discovered this and even though I’m not transitioning or anything, I have mad respect for anyone who chooses to go through the process. If I met a woman who’d just transitioned from being a man (I’m straight) I like to think that it would work purely based on the fact we get one
Love is love....labels or gender shouldn’t define it
As someone transitioning & married soon to be divorced it was the comment about needing someone who us fluid and not rigidly binary that totally matches my situation. Thank u universe for Laura Grace having such a brilliant series for the world to understand us better (& help us better understand ourselves too ^_^ ) xoxo

i feel so bad for people whose family is so unaccepting. im lucky most of my family realized my mental health and happiness is more important. eventually the onse who matter to me most came around. i just hope i can use this and WE as a community can use or love amd strength to show the world our worth and everything our souls have to offer. im kind of at a standstill in my transition and this series has reinspired me to keep pushing. to keep going bc im never alone in this. keep fighting everyone
That is so awesome that your family realized that. Please don't feel like you have to be on a timeline with your transition. Go at a pace you feel comfortable. I'm not trans but I have friends who are and more than one has told me that once they stopped pressuring themselves to transition in a certain timeline and relaxed about it and took it day by day, it really saved their sanity. I was out to my boyfriend months before we began dating. (I came out in April, we got together on halloween) He accepts me and supports my want to transition, but I've always got this fear in the back of my head that when I go on HRT, he'll not want me anymore. I know it's just a silly fear, and he truly loves me for me, but it still worries me.

Bailey C. The thing about the future, is that it’s an unknown for each of us. There’s no guarantee that either of you will feel the same at the end of your transition if you do decide to go through w one, but you can’t let that keep you from doing it if it’s what YOU want. Even if things change, as long as you love you, everything will be ok ❤️

These videos are awesome, I am learning to be more open minded about people, l'm streight but I have relatives who are bisexual or lesbian or gay. I believe that knowledge is power. I've no reason to not like or respect them just because of who they love. I feel like I am becoming a better person for getting scooled on this subject. You have to do what's best for you and sometimes it's very challenging. ✌️

I watched the entire series and it was pretty interesting. Me and Laura have a lot of things in common. We are both women, we are both born in the United States, we are outspoken people and we are both attracted to women. I’m more of in the feminine side. The only differences are that I am not trans and she is and we are in different states. I live in New Jersey, and she lives in Illinois. Hopefully I’ll meet her and give her a big hug. Maybe we’ll go out on a date in the future.

Read Laura's book. It's really a sad story of how it ended, but basically it ended around 2013.

MsMercury it's difficult when there are also cis people who are convinced they know everything they need to though. Like one person I know who worked with a trans woman while she was transitioning called her he and a he she several times without any malice, and my dad, with slightly more malice, acts like he knows about trans people because my uncle is gay so... it's not always worth the risk.

I think this is not just one "little"thing, if you realize this, you are changing everything in your life and it is understandable. I know that this is rare, but, is you are gay and your boyfriend comes out as a woman, then you like men, but now that person is not consider a man anymore. It is the same with heterosexual people, trans people, etc. I think that is part of the "change".
