  • Finally made it happen! This 3-day overnighter on the C-Dory 22 had a few firsts. First time spearing and cooking a fish aboard, first time testing the ICECO Fridge running off the solar panels and first time flying the drone around the boat! I will say it was a great time even though I ruined my camera in the water.... Now we are better equipped and experienced for bigger and better adventures!

Trip! We just found a 2008 C-Dory 22 Cruiser and picked it up yesterday. I've been binging your videos since we found the listing last weekend, crossing my fingers that we'd complete the sale (and the travel - which included putting it on the Cross Sound Ferry). Your videos are so entertaining and inspiring and informative - especially to a couple of brand new C-brats!! Thank you!

man, you are living my dream, getting out on the water with this little boat that has so much comforts. solar power and refrigerator are surely an extra plus for longer trips. personally i'd expand more on the galley, cause i like cooking, and maybe a proper berth up in the bow. Great job on all the fixes and customisation, especially after that lightning strike!

I dont know how Gulf crabbing goes, but here in Oregon what works best is Mink, or if you are using chicken, let it sit in the sun in its bag for at least 4 hours. The smellier, the better. Depth for what I have done doesnt matter. Ive dropped shallow and deep. When trying out a new spot, let the pot sit for about 30 minutes minimum. The bigger the catch, the better the location. Awesome videos Trip. Watching your kayaking trips is what got me into hammock camping and kayaking. Keep it up and God bless

Trip.... That lure you were trolling with is a MR17 used for trout fishing. It a cast and retrieve lure. Try trolling some clark spoons with a planer board, a deep diving hard plastic, or a soft plastic with a paddle tail on a heavy jig head next time. Throw that lure you were using in grass flats and points 8-15 ft deep and you will catch some trout. Best wishes brother and I hope this was helpful. 😎👍

I work remodeled homes and renovations. I just use a regular wash rag soaked in regular water. To wipe my neck and face. The evaporated moisture cools you instantly without a cost besides missed production when you would wipe the sweat from your face anyways. When the wet wash rag gets to your body temperature just toss it like pizza dough in the air and it will feel ten degrees cooler.

Hoping you film the installation of the permanent solar panels. I'm kicking around the idea for my 22 as well. We presently use an old Nordic ac/dc fridge that serves us well. The biggest thing I've found is to cool it off a day or 2 before heading out using shore power. Initial cooling with the compressor running constantly is a heavy load on batteries.
Take a look at "Out on the reef " on here. He just returned from the tortugas. Hands down, one of his best trips ever.

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  2 года назад +1

Trip is good at EVERTHING except... fishing.
Best boat ever, exercise, repairs, RUclips channel, being a cool dad, cooking, living healthy, being positive attitude, efficiency, EVERYTHING.....
but.... catching a fish? Nope. And I can't understand why?
It's Florida. He should be STROKING the fish. Literally a shoestring on a hook and you'll catch a trout.
But.... in his defense.... He never claimed to be a fishing show. It's a mini yatch show and having fun in Florida.
I wish I could spend 2 hours talking with him.... I could knock out 90% of the learning curve. It's easy to get decent and desent in Florida is GREAT compared to the rest of the world.
Thanks for the great clips Trip.
I always like a Trip clip.

I enjoy seeing the snacks. I don't eat anything between my one, two, or zero meals a day. I actually only eat when I'm hungry and it's not normally regular eating time. But I've been 6'2" 187lbs for 23 years now. I turned 40 today. I'm a Texan though and only try to eat things that are deep fried and fattening. I had avacado and lettuce on my spicy carne assada taco yesterday though.

Although you can catch them up there at first light.
You really need to maybe take a few trips with a guide or buddy who knows how to fish inshore saltwater because most of your trips are in phenomenal inshore fishing areas.
Either way you’re trips are always entertaining but you would definitely eat better if you’re fishing skills were better but maybe this spear fishing deal will be your thing.

I’ve never crabbed on the East coast, but if it’s anything like catching Dungies, you’re likely leaving your pots out for way too long. Check those ones every 30 minutes. You could also try ring traps - leave those down for 10-15 minutes.
