  • At Making Tracks we do things differently. Our focus is on making model railways accessible to all. This means we’ll often stand back and let the kids (of all ages) drive our trains.
This video is dedicated to those children who have operated any of the Making Tracks layouts and features those whom we were able to film during the last week.
My granddaughter Nancy (age 5) features in the video having an early drive before the doors open.
Our layout has barriers around not to keep the public at a distance, but instead to permit our guest drivers (young and old) access to the installation as they drive their chosen trains around and walk with it.
Spare a thought for those volunteers accompanying our guests as they travel the perimeter, sometimes over 100 times per day. According to Chris’s step counter, he’s walked almost six miles per day. Is this an unexpected fitness sport/hobby?
Come and join us and have a drive. It’s free and you’ll have access to drive the latest rolling stock, some before it’s available in the shops.
You may ask why Chester Cathedral?
We help raise money for the cathedral upkeep. Every year we’ve exhibited at the Cathedral we’ve helped raise thousands towards the cathedral upkeep.
