My only problem with the criticism around multiversus is its 25% very real balancing/server problems and it feels like the other 75% is people calling any charecter OP because they don't know how to play around them.
i feel like a big part of the game's problem is lacking any kind of reward-style content. they need to add more skins/banners/cosmetics that you can only unlock by grinding instead of pretty much only having in-app purchase style cosmetics / banners etc.
Maybe when it fully releases but that's probably wishful thinking. I'd appreciate it though if they would just increase the gold coin reward after each match, or Arcade mode
It would be awesome if this game added a ton of specific big challenges like call of duty for banners, icons, skins, ringouts and other stuff. For example “ringout Arya 300 times on a specific map for a Arya icon only acquired through this challenge” or “knockout players from the top of the map 500 times with jakes up special for a animated banner only acquired through this challenge” but a ton of them too increase the games content. Keeps players grinding for more than just rank
one thing that's weird is how giant warner brothers asks a small dev team to make their game, but don't give them enough resources to tank a warner bros sized audience
@@Miriam_J_ that’s why multiplayer games suck nowadays is that when they go free to play everyone plays it for about a month but as soon as time goes by everyone realizes what little content is in the game and decides to leave. Ofc the people who defend the game will say “it’s in beta” and while that may be true that doesn’t give the game any excuses as to why there’s no content with it. Like we’re getting a scoob verse Halloween event but not getting him as a fighter 💀
Which is even more weird because Warner Bros has made successful big budget AAA fighting games in the past as seen with Mortal Kombat and Injustice, so it’s not like they don’t have the budget for it. I don’t want dunk on the Multiversus developers because I know they don’t have the 30 years of developer experience that Masahiro Sakurai has plus the 20 that he’s been working on Super Smash Bros and not having the backing of Nintendo, who are more concerned with making games more than Warner Bros. but even after season 1 dropped, it still feels like I’m still playing the beta.
@@Juanhernandez-zx7kt facts my guy. It’s nice we’re getting new characters but that’s it. When smash gave us new character’s it came with a new stage and new music. On top of that multiverses itself gets super repetitive. You play the same 3 game modes over and over again for minor rewards. I didn’t even buy the battle pass this season because there was barely anything good in it. On top of that the matchmaking is terrible since I’m playing a lvl 7 Rick and the game thinks it’s a good ideas to match me with a sweaty lvl 30 bugs. Plus with certain characters being unbalanced, bugs, terrible hitboxes, and floaty movement this game is just ok rn. The good news is the devs actually care but their main issue is actually adding new content. What this game needs is a story mode at least similar to smash bros brawl or something. Or ranked, arcade, tournament, hell even a boss rush or the dungeons and guilds they promised awhile back. Not to mention this is one of the few games that actually rewards spamming too. Overall I do want the game to succeed but I wish the game was delayed and not turned into another “beta” ofc the people who defend use that as an excuse as to why the game doesn’t have any content in it. Hell even on guy on tik tok blamed the genre as to why the game doesn’t have any content. But like I said I just want the game to have more content
I just think the game has its own playerbase now it was really hyped at the start so that brought a lot of people that were playing but not all are gonna stay the players who like and enjoy the game are playing , I just think with servers fixed , more content , and fixes to characters are gonna help the players stay and play , the game just feels unfinished rn but its not dead by any means .
Exactly and it's not just fighting games, it's all games and ESPECIALLY free to play games as anybody can try it out with no strings attached, also this is early in the game, if they consistently add more good content it will for sure have longevity
The "this happens to every game" point is really stupid. This is a live service game, it's not like single player or even finished multiplayer games. The latter can "die" months after launch and be fine, because that's not how those games make their money. Live service games, however, purely rely on an active player base that spends money on the game. Do you think they'd finish the game in the player count was consistently below 1k? No! They'd have no money to!
@@Miriam_J_ The majority of fighting games other than like, Smash, undergo this though, and it took decades for Smash to gain such a large following. Also, don't forget that it is backed up by Warner Bros. They definitely have the money to finish the game, and once the game is finished, it basically becomes passive income with all the skins and whatnot.
Attack decay is absolutely fine. Combos need to offer more counterplay on 2v2s. Something like a resistance to stun lock after taking X amount of hits.
You are a Shaggy spammer if you think it's fine rofl There is no way you can tell me you've not lost games because of pure spam artists? I just use Shaggy as a prime example to get my point across but move variety needs encouragement, spamming needs punishing.
My brother, if you are losing to a pure "Spam Artist", you are not looking to counter the spam but instead are continously running into the same move. If you are referring to Shaggy side special then you literally just need to wait a sec and dodge through the attack. Decay lowers damage and stunlock making it pretty simple to get out of decayed attacks IMO.
Completely agree, on a good note it looks like the devs genuinely care about the game and it's state I'm sure with a little more time we'll look back and feel relief we don't have to play the game in it's current state. At least that's what I'm hoping.
@@hydrossj8217 I know brother, it kinda getting hard to defend, it's like just buy better servers in the areas that need them, you have the money to do it!? I'll give it to PFG that the multi path acceleration does seem to make the servers feel a little better but I just want to play back to back 3 bars. I always get a 2 bar and rarely get a 3 bar so I get where you're coming from.
i saw a video similar to this called "why every game is dying", something we ignore is that very few games can keep that initial release spike going consistently, they almost all fall, even good games. also some people have just had their experience with the game and they're done with it now, that's kinda how games go nowadays.
They won't if they keep nerfing all the characters that was one of the reasons it was soo fun when it came out now its just Harleys and Batmans all game
@@piplonf8591 literally get good I’m not being rude but the nerfs to characters are not that big of a deal I’ve kept a solid 3k spot in 1s and 10k in 2s it’s not hard to have a 100% ws I played all characters and win with them my friend plays velma you can’t complain about the game when you can’t play well no offense I’m not saying it in a mean way but complaining about a nerf that isn’t a super big deal it’s alright mind you they have a perk system witch is very helpful when getting back into a player
@@bxtzo2014 Excuse me? It is a VERY big deal to take away the entirety of the hitbox for jerry falling from the tom and jerry up special, that literally took away a HUGE part of jerry being useful. And then they made jerry only have TWO corks to fire, an entire third less! THEN they COMPLETELY RUINED tom and jerry for 2v2 by making jerry freaking DIE if an ALLY holds him and GETS HIT PERIOD enough times or with a strong attack! THAT IS A BIG DEAL. Tom and jerry is my main but now the character's so bad I can't even play! Tom has next to NO priority on almost EVERY attack fyi.
It's not on a downward spiral, most fighting games will peak at release then lose players during the first months of release until leveling off. This game is already leveling off and still has a very healthy player base available to it. This is exactly how it is for even smash
i'm just burnt the fuck out on this game and i don't even have 100 hours - really wish they were consistently releasing characters & improving the server quality edit: new character every 2 weeks?? i swear it feels like 3 or 4 characters have come out since the game released
Iron giant released with the game beta (he wasn't in the alpha). At this point, you could only play the game by getting a code from watching a twitch stream for 1 hour. Then Lebron came a week later with the full/non code beta release. Then there was a 4 week break (we got a patch where there was no new character). Then we got Morty, 2 weeks later we got Gizmo, 2 weeks later we got Rick. That averages out to a new character every 2.2 weeks.
I think the only thing missing is the ranked mode,so that the players that plays this game 24/7 can't fell bad for themselves after beating a player that just started to play
@@strickshot grand blue, shodin warriors, and like 4 other games that didnt even come out(like MV) they seem to flop for some reason. Now i dont want the game to flop but that curse be hitting hard
I agree with everything you've said. Recently in the past few weeks, I haven't played the game that much. I'll go on and record, play a new character or do challenges/quests but even then I get bored fast
I actually don't mind the devs talking their time to tone down overpowered characters. Sometimes a small change can do a lot. Also if there is anything that drives people away, it's absolutely gutting someone's main. Small nerfs suck but if the character is still viable people will get over it. However if you make a character unviable that person is likely to just quit. People don't want to poor hours of work into a character only to have them be essentially removed.
We cant forget that many people dont like games in this style, most fighting games have simular player counts to multiversus, i dont think this drop off is because of the games issues. Many people just downloaded the game to try it out since it has many popular characters. The issues are still a reason why many players quit, but i think that is a maximun of 30%.
Yeah fighting games are only for certain people, that's why some people absolutely love this game and others don't, me I like the concept but the game just isn't for me, the mortal kombat games were probably the only fighter games that could actually hook me and keep me interested for a long time, and tbh the only reason I was interested was because I loved grinding for skins, it was fun as hell and made me get better
This was a great video and it's interesting seeing constructive criticism on a video game rather than something so malicious. You did a fantastic job with this video and executed the video concept perfectly!
Had a couple back to back matches where my teammate started the round and started sinking into the middle of the map. While their in the ground theyll have a afterimage teleporting around then when the true player sinks through the bottom of the map we will lose a ticket. Everyday something new and crazy happens in this game.
I understand being worried a bit and wanting to put out a more in-depth discussion about the problems, but it is in beta I wouldn’t say it’s in fortnight beta, the shop isn’t out yet ranked isn’t out yet, net code. Every thing you mentioned and I agree with. But I’m just saying don’t worry this game 100% isn’t going anywhere. And you have to remember that just because some money is coming in, doesn’t mean there not getting all that money. A lot of those individual franchises(DC, Rick and Morty, etc) get royalties, also the character development to me seem very obvious that they have a lot of characters already developed basically, Rick probably got pushed back due to his portal gun being weird with new projectile update we got or something. I do think the devs have positioned themselves perfected. I know a lot of people who haven’t even tried this game yet because it’s in beta, there’s so many more people to come and comeback when it’s ready for full release My Prediction is once the net code is better with servers etc. is when the shop and the game will fully come out, wouldn’t surprise me if shop came out before net code and serves but i think it’s right around the corner
I took a pause on the game when Arya got nerfed, but Arya felt the most satisfying to play and I found the up special the satisfying thing which got broken.
For a platform fighter with only that many players, we absolutely should not be seeing these server issues. They make such a huge impact when 1 frame decides if you land a hit or not or dodge out of an attack in time.
Man, I'm tempted to stop playing for now because I have sessions where I lose a match because I do a move that just goes right through the opponent when going to punish like when I went to up special as Harley on a Superman who was trying to do the grab above me but somehow I get caught in the grab like WTF. I have a wired connection as well so seeing it constantly happen is frustrating.
One thing that I think is very agreeable is that there is no content or stuff to grind for because it is very true. There have been leaked on an arcade mode but until ranked comes out the game will lack that grind and we don’t even know when ranked will come out sooo?
I agree about the character announcements, it's so weird and unplanned feeling. Each character has been treated differently. Rick, Morty, and LeBron were announced and then we got LeBron. STRIPE AND BLACK ADAM! Morty is next! Here's Morty! Oh yeah, here's a teaser for Gizmo coming tomorrow. Oops, I mean three days from now. Here's Gizmo! ??? Rick is coming soon!
The servers are the big issue for me and the reason why I don’t play this game as much as I’d like. Starting a match and your opponent is already knocking you off the map happens so much and it’s so annoying, and that’s my biggest issue so far, happens every 3 matches for me. Characters being strong or buggy can be chopped up to “they can nerf or buff that” but there is no excuse for your game literally not working at the start of a match, hopefully they stop focusing on character releases or buff or nerfs and fix the server and those issues first because they can add 100 characters but it won’t matter if no one can enjoy playing them
As another content creator of this game, and person who loves multiversus, I've noticed i have been taking more breaks from the game. also speaking on the battlepass, if i don't see things I like in, it's not worth it for me. so like once i got the task for harley skin, I kinda have checked out on completing the battle pass which is at tier 11. I think the problem with the battle pass is that at least skins, it doesn't accommodate everyone who has different mains.
@@Haymaker228 sorry if I said that wrong but the selection of what gets skins and who gets animations seem unbalanced to me, I don’t want my main to get a skin 24/7 I just think what we really need is a shop at this point. I don’t want it to turn into a SFV situation where chun li cosmetics were spammed and other characters barely get thing at all
So glad you touched on all these issues bro! I can't understand how ranked can come out with the game so unbalanced at the moment and fortnightly characters being released to unbalance it further.
I got about 110 hours on the game, and the first 70 was before school started, but on the weekends I’m still very happy to play as my lvl 25 Batman. I just love the core game so much and am a huge Batman fan, so no amount of repetitiveness can take away the joy I get playing this game.
Its a really small team.. I think the big problem is that the team is very divided in tasks.. New characters New cosmetics Balance and updates Fixing servers etc. Thats a LOT for a small team like that
The main problem with the game is only the lack of content, that I believe is the sole reason for people not playing, currently feels like a plateau where you pass level 15 on a character and don’t have any real reason to play other than to get better. That drives people away from the game, it’s just boring
I wanna foot stomp the content problem, because I could personally forgive everything else -- even the server issues. I think they could even put their current WIP characters on the backburner if they focused on the content. Smash Bros is the GOAT and platform fighter standard, and what does it have that Multiversus doesn't? Items, stages, summons, final smashes, campaign mode, arcade mode, minigames, JESUS. It gives the player SO many options for how to engage with it. We don't have even a fraction of that in Multiversus yet. You wanna party it up with friends, relax after a tough day, or get sweaty AF trying to climb ranks? Smash Bros. Multiversus just doesn't have enough variety in it. That's where I think they really need to step it up.
This is what I think. The game came out prematurely. Should’ve stayed in development longer so the quality of life stuff got ironed out and so they also have content planned out and ready for a scheduled release without hiccups. That way we would’ve gotten more content and more consistent updates would’ve kept more players stay (I still think like 50% of players would’ve dropped since its in nature for a fighting game, but I feel like the drop off would be less or at least less severe) Edit: Very glad you actually gave criticism and not just said the usual bot reply
Nice Video :) i can only agree to your Points What i want: 1. Fix the servers 2. Ranked/Party Modus (Party Mod can Change every 3days maybe) 3. More Challenges and Achiements Like Quest for banner/profilpics/emotes, maybe Level 30/40/50 skins (for example) etc. 4. More stages I dont need every week a New Charakter, every 2 weeks is insane enough, i Just want this 4 points to improve
i honestly think that given the issues the game is doin well. it's normal for any game to lose 90%+ of their player base after the initial hype dies down. it's still got a few thousand on brawlhalla too
I wish there was more custom match options. It sucks when my two friends and I wanna just have a free for all and chill but we have to add a bot to the mix just to even be able to play. Also with the character consistency, I just hope it doesn't suffer from the same issue Rainbow Six Siege had, where they added way too many characters with way too many different abilities that are almost exactly the same as each other or just straight up bad and not thought out
For me its the increase of sweaty players ( i had to become one myself) they arent adding very hype characters, back to back supports btw, but i feel like its more important for more stuff to do. Cheap characters making the game annoying like bugs or the people who spam the one stupidly good move. The lag ofc because lag can effect this game massively, from not being able to punish moves or just straight up teleporting. Or maybe the hype just died down
@@focusprx You put it perfectly also nice pfp, my name for ps4 has always been Satella cus re:zeros my favourite anime and I used to envy everybody who was better than me, kina cringe and you didn't ask but meh weeb multiversus fans seem chill
The PC players are the worst of the bunch, not slating the whole platform but it's always them with the lag abuse and exploit shit. I've seen some things that you wouldn't believe.
@@LJAndrews1986 turn off cross play. cross play is super laggy currently. have it off until they fix it, i play pc and everytime i get in a game with a playstation player is unplayable
I have had this happen 5 times now already in like 4 days, normaly after a match you have to like press continue(square on ps4) and then you like see all the XP you have gotten from that match and you see what challenges you have complete and stuff. But it has happened way to often where i just cant press continue like at all and i just have to close the game completely.
1:30 the reason there low on steam is cause steam sucks, people prefer using epic games and people also use ps4 and Xbox, steam is literally the least used out of all of them
Well the nerf and balance issues I think can be attributed to the dev team cranking out new characters while also tweaking the current meta. They have to keep that in mind when making their kits, I think if we give PFG some time we won’t be disappointed
Its not dying I was playing on steam and multiversus shows you what platform everyone is playing on. I saw more xbox, playstaion, and even EPIC GAME STORE LOGOS that steam users. Steam user numbers I more and more belief to be a very bad metric for player numbers. The player base is still one of the largest out there right now also these large drops after launch are normal.
@@Royalirishnerd the game according to steam...is already dead..Like seriously.Dead, dead..1k players lol...now for the consoles I have no idea, but it can't be that much better...unfortunately the game is dying and dying fast.
@@MyTardisGoWhoosh it's mostly played in western countries and the only time it gets close to 1k is when most of those people are asleep Xbox doesn't give player numbers but does post top 50 most played games and MV is in there even MV going off steam numbers is still in the top 100 when it comes to concurrent player base the game is not dying its settling down to a standard number.
Yes agreed, a character every week would be crazy, but that doesn’t mean the roster isn’t light. This games needs more characters, maps, and game modes.
I personally think, they just need some single player content. I'm not asking for subspace emissary levels of single player, but like....if you don't play online much , there's nothing for casual members
If there was a trade off to add just one new character per month along with a map/mode then I would take it. More characters are nice but you need other types of content to make the game more viable and well rounded
The stuff that I overall dislike about this game is the servers after the gizmo update. It's ridiculous trying to play this game in these hellish servers on pc and netcode hit boxes related problem. And Im overall waiting for bug fixes over characters coming every 2 weeks because it seems I find more bugs when the game gets a new character than the last update that fixed those bugs. Oh and New maps.
Luckily they have 2 separate dev teams working on content and quality of life stuff such as servers, I'm really glad there doing it this way as charecter won't take priority over gameplay
I'm glad you are mentioning this stuff. Since this game is free I've been wanting to swap over to it from the other platform fighters because it looks promising. I knew it wasn't going to replace the 1v1s because the way the game is designed is so different, but it still has to compete with the 2v2 experience of other platform fighters. 1:35 Poor servers: This is actually pretty massive and is honestly the main thing making me question whether or not to play Smash Ultimate as the main platform fighter because rollback is sooo nice to have. However if the servers are bad, it kinda doesn't matter if you're using rollback or not so that's a big problem for Multiversus. Ultimate can have some annoying lag when people have a poor connection, but Multiversus it makes it so multiple times in a match people will teleport randomly and everyone has to adjust. Sometimes it's bad enough to teleport people into the blast zones. The cross platform thing where people standing still is something I didn't know about. I thought it was just a lot of people being forgetful, but that definitely makes sense. 6:11 Lack of content: The new character thing is just people wanting their main, or are comparing the roster to Smash. People will always cry for more characters no matter what the devs do. Fun modes is something I haven't thought about since I usually just stick to 1v1s and the variety of characters and the people I play is so much that I forget that there are other modes. Whenever I do play other modes in other platform fighters I can only play them for a short time before I get bored. With that said, it is a much needed diversion sometime and they definitely need to go add the other things badly. Complaining about having too much gold: Ehhh, I'm still struggling to unlock all the characters, I think the gold is fine right now. You literally have to play all day everyday to have unlocked everything. Have to sink in at least 100 hours to get everyone unlocked. I currently have 131 hours and I only have 12 of 19 characters unlocked. Most people I know aren't going to put in 1/5 of that time in because it'll start feeling like a chore for them, rather than a fun game. I'm only sticking with it hard because I got a reputation among my friends to be the expert on all things platform fighter among the friend group, so I'd like to help people get into it to see if it's something they want. Completing the battlepass: I avoid games with battlepasses for a reason because they aren't for me. It makes me feel like the game is a chore thatll make me want to do dailies then log off, as opposed to other platform fighters where I feel like I'm just playing to have a good time and will prefer to binge the game and improve at it. I'm currently trying to complete the battlepass, and will likely stop playing the game when I complete it because I am getting burnt out hardcore right now, and I'll probably take a long enough break that I'll forget about the game because it's asked me to play so much. Obviously not saying to remove battlepasses, games put them in for a reason since it is the best thing for some people. However, it just drives people like me away, especially since it kinda feels predatory on people's time + money to me since I feel like the game should be able to stand up on it's own instead of relying on psychological tricks to keep people playing. 10:55 Balance.... yeah, game really isn't balanced. Also people calling characters being dumb or OP is just gonna be a thing because that happens in all fighting games. Multiversus is probably going to have a looooooot more than that than other fighting games because they are attracting a larger audience and one that isn't just smash/fighting game fans. Sooo they haven't gone through the growing pains of getting good at a fighting game yet as Multiverss is likely the first one and they only have one teammate to blame, so it's more likely for people to realize that they themselves are bad. So people are going to call out others because it's the easiest way to cope with a loss = ) Also, I thought it was me being bad before, but things are much less balanced than I thought. A massive red flag popped up when I heard about the hitbox changes, I haven't done any serious testing on it, so I thought I was just being a scrub, so to think it was actually true blew my mind. That is a massive core gameplay change and I'm also surprised it wasn't that way before. How you approach your opponent and how to design a character changes dramatically when it comes to having hitboxes on the limbs, and hitboxes being just a capsule. They basically lost my faith in their ability to balance the game. Especially since they were taking data based on how characters were when the hitboxes were capsules, and not with hitboxes and still made changes based on the gameplay with capsules. Also yes that character announcement thing is a large problem. I may never care to play/fight Rick, but establishing trust with the consumer is very important to make people want to stay with a game. So to see something revealed, only for it to get tugged away from you, then get replaced with something else you didn't hear about is going to mess with a lot of people. I hope they avoid doing that in the future. It may not seem like a big problem, but when people get passionate about something, that could be the one time you have to hook them in. Overall I'm really hoping they shape up really soon with Multiversus. It's a free game, and free games are a great way to get people interested in platform fighters. Brawlhalla is the other one. Brawlhalla might be simple, but at least you get teh feeling of what it's like to be competitive, and feeling the emphasis on reading your opponent. Whereas Multiversus, the characters feel so wacky and unbalanced that it feels like people can only play it casually for a very short time because if they want to try to get good at all, the game is just gonna make them suffer for it. I don't want to just stick with Smash (Nintendo only), and Rivals of Aether (Pretty dang solid character design + gameplay, but still costs a little money, and is lacking in strong recognizable characters to get people's attention). I'd like to add Multiversus to the list. Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is already dead because it's too expensive to get people into it and had other unique problems with it, so I'm hoping Multiversus doesn't suffer the same fate but for different reasons.
Agree with mostly everything you said. I like how you went into detail about your experience The battlepass from my perspective isn't really grindy, since I barely pay attention to it, but I think that's the issue. There's nothing in the battlepass for characters I play so what's the point of even grinding it? I think they definitely need more skins and emotes for all characters in future ones to actually have people wanting the stuff in it. I do also wish it would give you the Gleamium back like most other battlepasses do. I think that would be a good way of building community and also entice people who could care less about the battlepass to still grind it so they can afford the next one. I'm actively holding onto my battlepass token I got from the Founders Edition just so I can use it on a battlepass that I actually care about, which kinda sucks.
Besides the points already mentioned, I really miss (good!) new maps. Im also not sure about all these different version of maps, besides a 2vs2 and 1vs1 version. Is it that hard to create a GOT or looney tunes map based on iconic / classic moments from the shows?
I grinded for "mastery" of all characters. Now that I've done that I feel there's nothing to play for. When Rick drops ill grind for a night, get him to 15 and hang it up again.
You have a lot of good points, although I think it should be considered that the game directly competes with smash, which has arguably less of a grind aspect
but smash has a bigger focus on playing with friends, while multiversus has a bigger focus on online play(playing alone). Smash doesnt need a real grind because youre just having fun with friends while playing ant not really working towars a goal the same way you do when playing by yourself.
I find it odd that they completely destroyed Taz because he was ''good'' but they do not completely destroy other characters that are strong, only Taz. Batman as an example is pure cancer to play against with his instant cooldown boomerang, that they could just have put on a cooldown like Taznado but NOPE..
like seriously Taz is Garbage for the simple fact any and everybody can knock him out of his attacks and he has a slow start up with his main attack mean while bugs batman harly and others can spam forever
What you said about the servers was the main reason I stopped playing on PC. When I played on console with my friends, we all had a blast, but whenever I would play online, I would get pissed. Any of the Harley Quinn combos I could pull off offline didn’t work online because the system disconnect, to the point when I’d play online l, I would just pick Iron Giant and spam down special because it was the only way I could get kills online.
I think all games go through that new player dip. We saw it with Fall Guys etc. A month's time is not enough for the game to keep reinventing itself. What will matter is whether the game feels new or still tired in 6 months to a year. Here's hoping PFG are given enough resources to build all the new stuff they stated they want to get to
Fall Guys used to cost actual money when that happened, though. Everyone had to spend a $20 if you wanted to play, so no matter what the devs got money for it. This isn't the case here. I'm sure they excepted all those 150k players to spend at least a little in the cash shop, but the player count has instead dropped to the floor. I don't know how they are being funded at this point, the game doesn't seem to have enough players to keep it alive for much longer and I don't think WB is currently in any position to dump money into a slowly falling project
@@Miriam_J_ MVS is 2nd behind Brawlhalla for consistent Steam player count for fighting games. As of today. Brawlhalla peaks around 16k, MVS peaks around 12k That is 3x the numbers of more established titles like Tekken, SF5, and Guilty Gear Strive on those platforms. We also don't know the numbers for in-game purchases, so its not fair to assume theyre losing money just cause it's a F2P. Lastly, this project is a big win for Warner Bros. So many of their characters are getting revived in cultural relevance. The PFG Dev team is basically part of the marketing budget for all their upcoming movies. This is not a dead game lol
First step to balance the game is to stop adding new characters and work on what's there. I kinda feel new characters are just overwhelming to play against, ofc one reason is cuz they are new, so it takes a while to get know how to play against. But, they also have like very unpredictable and over-weaponized combat styles which makes base characters inferior in front of them.
They need to add a lot of custom game modes like in Brawlhalla even though they don’t get played a lot it’s still fun to play like I only really play multiversus on my own now they game has got me into playing brawl with my friends and now i have more hours on brawl than multiversus.
I think they confirmed on twitter that they wanted to add an arcade mode to the game which is something I think should be in every “fighting” game A story mode would also be cool but they kinda need more characters first
My only problem with the criticism around multiversus is its 25% very real balancing/server problems and it feels like the other 75% is people calling any charecter OP because they don't know how to play around them.
EXACLTY omfg
this is the most absolutely true thing i have ever seen
More like 2% 98%
The only character who is currently bs in the right hands is Velma, cancerous to all hell
Big freaking facts.
i feel like a big part of the game's problem is lacking any kind of reward-style content. they need to add more skins/banners/cosmetics that you can only unlock by grinding instead of pretty much only having in-app purchase style cosmetics / banners etc.
Idky seeing Sc6ut here trips me but ngl it makes sense.
Common free game problem, only having microtransactions as a way to get skins
Agreed. But maybe tone down the number of times to like 250?
300 or 500 times you must be cracked, 200 in a season tops lol
Collect 250 clues as Velma and ringout with mystery machine 50 times
Not for a season just base game
Literally ANYTHING to incentivize playing the game. The only incentive right now is “have a higher rank”
one thing that's weird is how giant warner brothers asks a small dev team to make their game, but don't give them enough resources to tank a warner bros sized audience
10000% fax
I mean, they expected the funding to come from that over 100k player count. I don't think they excepted it to fall off a cliff like it has
@@Miriam_J_ that’s why multiplayer games suck nowadays is that when they go free to play everyone plays it for about a month but as soon as time goes by everyone realizes what little content is in the game and decides to leave.
Yeah fighting games usually experience big drops. Plus the steam numbers only make up a small amount of the player base, more people play on console.
Also adding the Asia servers as well.
We desperately need more things to do, plus make attack decay actually a legit penalty instead of the bs it is now.
Hell no attack decay is fine
Attack decay is absolutely fine. Combos need to offer more counterplay on 2v2s. Something like a resistance to stun lock after taking X amount of hits.
You are a Shaggy spammer if you think it's fine rofl There is no way you can tell me you've not lost games because of pure spam artists? I just use Shaggy as a prime example to get my point across but move variety needs encouragement, spamming needs punishing.
@@LJAndrews1986 I'd make the argument that the slightly nerfed damage and the huge nerf on knockback is honestly plenty for a nerf.

A way they could possibly revive it is by making a huge update adding new game modes like KOTH while doing a mass character dump from different shows

FYI Connection performance for the user is based on user ping, not upload/download. So they should show the ping and package loss instead of bars.

I know a lot of people who haven’t even tried this game yet because it’s in beta, there’s so many more people to come and comeback when it’s ready for full release
My Prediction is once the net code is better with servers etc. is when the shop and the game will fully come out, wouldn’t surprise me if shop came out before net code and serves but i think it’s right around the corner
12:04 I played Taz before the unfair nerf. With his recent buffs, he finally feels good again. A bit different, but I don't mind

Bro literally stated some strong facts!
I love Multiversus, I just want them to do more
I wouldn’t mind a stock system for 2’s with bigger maps
Maybe 3v3s
Idk if anybody else has this problem, but sometimes my games literally go into slow motion when I have bad connection it's so weird
Yep same for every one when there's 2 or 1 bar.
Man, I'm tempted to stop playing for now because I have sessions where I lose a match because I do a move that just goes right through the opponent when going to punish like when I went to up special as Harley on a Superman who was trying to do the grab above me but somehow I get caught in the grab like WTF. I have a wired connection as well so seeing it constantly happen is frustrating.
i stopped playing because i didn’t want to spend too much time grinding just to be able to play with the character i liked
One thing that I think is very agreeable is that there is no content or stuff to grind for because it is very true. There have been leaked on an arcade mode but until ranked comes out the game will lack that grind and we don’t even know when ranked will come out sooo?
As far as content id like mk style towers or a campaign story explaining why all these characters are fighting. New maps would be cool too.
💯 agreed. Idk why everytime they add a new character no new maps
I have lost like 4 close matches because of lag it was pretty annoying when it was really due to lag.
They aren’t being aggressive enough with the expection how they kill tnj in 1 patch
That "you lose a stock before you load in" is so true. I've seen it.
I got so frustrated yesterday. I lagged off the map twice. I have gig internet so it's most likely the servers.
my only real problem with this game is the infinites and how a 50% more skilled player can lose because of a 0 to 60 infinite combo
The main problem with the game is only the lack of content, that I believe is the sole reason for people not playing, currently feels like a plateau where you pass level 15 on a character and don’t have any real reason to play other than to get better. That drives people away from the game, it’s just boring
that and the connection issues.
Needs ranked that’s why I quit

Everyone talking about how they want ranked but I personally want arcade mode first, some single player content would be nice.
Smash also has years of iterations and wasn't a live service. I don't think adding what Smash did is the right move especially this early
This is what I think. The game came out prematurely. Should’ve stayed in development longer so the quality of life stuff got ironed out and so they also have content planned out and ready for a scheduled release without hiccups. That way we would’ve gotten more content and more consistent updates would’ve kept more players stay (I still think like 50% of players would’ve dropped since its in nature for a fighting game, but I feel like the drop off would be less or at least less severe)
Edit: Very glad you actually gave criticism and not just said the usual bot reply
So I would like to see more modes, weekly events, free skins from challenges, the shop, anything that adds flavor and life into the game

4. More stages

i honestly think that given the issues the game is doin well. it's normal for any game to lose 90%+ of their player base after the initial hype dies down. it's still got a few thousand on brawlhalla too
It's also fair to note that Steamcharts doesn't account for Playstation, Xbox, and Epic Games players. So it's not a great metric to use.
Brawlhalla is garbage
I wish there was more custom match options. It sucks when my two friends and I wanna just have a free for all and chill but we have to add a bot to the mix just to even be able to play. Also with the character consistency, I just hope it doesn't suffer from the same issue Rainbow Six Siege had, where they added way too many characters with way too many different abilities that are almost exactly the same as each other or just straight up bad and not thought out
agreed
For me its the increase of sweaty players ( i had to become one myself) they arent adding very hype characters, back to back supports btw, but i feel like its more important for more stuff to do. Cheap characters making the game annoying like bugs or the people who spam the one stupidly good move. The lag ofc because lag can effect this game massively, from not being able to punish moves or just straight up teleporting. Or maybe the hype just died down

Great video. My biggest issue is the netcode and the game feeling dry
It's using rollback netcode you buffoon....lmao that's the best.....
So people are going to call out others because it's the easiest way to cope with a loss = )
Also, I thought it was me being bad before, but things are much less balanced than I thought.
I like how you went into detail about your experience
The battlepass from my perspective isn't really grindy, since I barely pay attention to it, but I think that's the issue.
Agreed games shit
Besides the points already mentioned, I really miss (good!) new maps. Im also not sure about all these different version of maps, besides a 2vs2 and 1vs1 version. Is it that hard to create a GOT or looney tunes map based on iconic / classic moments from the shows?
I grinded for "mastery" of all characters. Now that I've done that I feel there's nothing to play for. When Rick drops ill grind for a night, get him to 15 and hang it up again.
Maybe don’t grind, trying being a casual
There is counter to batman.
like seriously Taz is Garbage for the simple fact any and everybody can knock him out of his attacks and he has a slow start up with his main attack mean while bugs batman harly and others can spam forever
i really like this game and i haven't thought about quitting at all, seems i'm in the minority tho 💀
I'm still playing to, the game still has a decent player base across all platforms. But these are core issues that must be fixed.
im definitely not thinking about quitting either, just pointing out some issues
Yeah because you like bad games
Brawlhalla peaks around 16k, MVS peaks around 12k
That is 3x the numbers of more established titles like Tekken, SF5, and Guilty Gear Strive on those platforms.
This is not a dead game lol
the best analysis i have watched so far.
Good points I hope someone sees this especially level 30 character skins that'd be dope
They need to add a lot of custom game modes like in Brawlhalla even though they don’t get played a lot it’s still fun to play like I only really play multiversus on my own now they game has got me into playing brawl with my friends and now i have more hours on brawl than multiversus.
I agree on this, one note I’d ad is that jake can be horrible to face with the lag and his kick flip move
I think they confirmed on twitter that they wanted to add an arcade mode to the game which is something I think should be in every “fighting” game
A story mode would also be cool but they kinda need more characters first
Still can't play anything but 1v1 or 4's offline... And I have tons of people that want to at together at my place..
What did you set your age as? The game doesn't let players over 18 online.
