Have you been to Castle Drogo and have you done the gorge walk? We ran out of time to do the walk and chose to cut this out as (spoiler alert) we were visiting Lydford Gorge the next day (next week's episode). I'm eager to go back to Dartmoor as I don't think we did the National Park justice and would be interested to hear from people whether a re-visit to Castle Drogo would be a good idea or not.

Thanks for sharing. We loved the tour of the foundry. We found the wages interesting and also where some of our old sayings come from. Beautiful walks too in the castle grounds. It looks like a beautiful part of the U.K. x

What a beautiful area - so many different flowers and colours in that garden. Good to check out the newest castle, I didn't realise they were being built so recently. Excellent tour of the Foundry as well, interesting to see that giant hammer that shaped the tools as well as learn about what the worker's wages bought them back in the day. I didn't realise about the 'top dog' and 'under dog' phrases - good to get the back story on that one. Another great video 👍

Hi Matt, so pleased you enjoyed it. I perhaps should have added to the video that Castle Drogo, whilst called a castle wasn't built as a defence but rather for a family with more money than they knew what to do with it 🤦‍♀️ I thought the area was stunning too, so pleased it came across this way!

Hi Emily and Tom. Obviously it depends on what you're into, but I'd HIGHLY recommend doing the circular walk through Lydford Gorge. Throughout the whole walk I was saying how awesome it would be in autumn!!🍂🍁

Hi Khatoon, I am very well thank you, I hope you're doing well too. Our guide did talk to us about the roof collapse at Finch Foundry, turns out, several of the workers were across the road having a pint so were very lucky, but it was something I didn't include in the video, so nice one for being able to find this out for yourself 👍

Nice video, but as a Devonshire lad it would be nice for a change for a local Devonshire lad or lass to do a video of this instead of a tourist who might only know what they read in books/phones or on the information boards at these places, most locals know stories and folklore that not many non locals would know.

Hi Dave. Totally understand where you're coming from as I think it would give a deeper meaning from a video like that. I'm afraid there's not much I can do though as I'm 100% a tourist in this situation. Thank you for your kind words in saying the video was nice 🙏

@@WhenAdventureKnox As a "tourist" we love you all really, you will always be welcome from us down in Devon.
Btw: if you are near Okehampton/Meldon Dam look up "Black-a-tor copse" it's a protected area within Dartmoor national park.
It's one of only a handful of places where the original trees Dartmoor was covered with still exist today, it's easily accessible from Meldon Dam car park and it's also down beside a nice river so a great place to stop and have something to eat and take it all in.
Good luck with your adventures and have fun.
