My heart sank. It's like thousands of voices cried out all at once and were suddenly silenced.
Something terrible has happened.
Sound like the status quo
the entire appeal of mint is that they were a smaller company with fair prices. this is exactly what we didn't want
They were only able to offer lower prices because their network was T-Mobile’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out T-Mobile was going to raise their lease rates enough that Mint couldn’t afford to keep the $15/mo at $15/mo.
@@jamesthelass6331Probably stealing too much of their business so they had to buy the whole company to stop them…. Get on Boost $25/month unlimited plan and stop feeding this greedy company!
I think everything will continue as usual. T-Mobile gains market share in the ore-paid space so it’s not really an acquisition to profit from the consumer, it’s more to show investors growth.
@@deathcoder That is what was supposed to happen when directv bought republic wireless but they ruined it. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before Mint gets the same treatment.

Why do you accept a paycheck for your work? Such a money grab. Sad.
Oh no you'll have to use TMobile networks... Wait
@@gilport I get what you're trying to say, but equating a weekly/biweekly check to a billion dollar deal is kind of missing the point.
Generally when I do my job, it creates value for my end users. When a corporation sucks up smaller companies, it generally (but not always!) removes value for the end users.
So their point is that Ryan is accepting copious amounts of money in exchange for reducing value to the customer.
Hope that clears it up for you!
Its only good for Ryan and not the customers. Eventually T-Mobile will rip up the "old" contracts like what always happens with these types of deals.
T-Mobile doesn't have a history of doing that. They never ended the Sprint deals
@@stellanstafford6025 They usually “Grandfather” them.

T-Mobile acquired Sprint & told us nothing would change & our prices will stay the same.
1 year later, they required everyone to upgrade their phones to T-Mobile phones so we had to buy new phones or they're gonna shut off our service.

I just bought a year plan. Hope they don't F me on that or my referral credits.
He only said the $15 plan won’t be touched. Who the F uses $15 plan in this day and age anyway?

As long as they dont get rid of their $360 dollars unlimited everything per year plan I'm good. What attracted me to mint mobile is that I can pay for an entire year and now have to think about a phone bill until the next year
What I have heard on some reddit pages is that they will keep it but they gonna jack the prices up
Good news! They're keeping the $15/month introductory price and didn't mention keeping any other pricing! So awesome for the consumers 💀

Mine expires December lol
Yeah if they take the unlimited plan out I’m out back too H20 wireless

Mint sold us out just like so many other amazing start ups. T-Mobile bought out Metro PCS too. Mint was a growing threat and probably eating into T-Mobile subscribers. T-Mobile may have threatened to pull it's network usage to Mint so Mint may have had no other choice but to sell.

I'm going to be dropping mint as soon as my current plan is up. I'm especially worried because T-mobile has a large history of data breaches. This is a complete joke I hope that their customers can make that clear them by dropping mint as their cellular provider.
First off all the Major companies have had Data Breaches.
Second MVNOs don't usually get hacked because there is no information to steal.
No company is immune from data breaches.

I'm not happy to hear about this. I've been using Mint for several years and I love how different it is from other wireless carriers. If prices increase, customer service quality declines, or the service itself sees more deprioritization to try and force people to a T-mobile plan, I'm out. I doubt this acquisition will be blocked but it certainly should be, this cannot in any way be construed as a consumer-friendly act.
Well they let Verizon takeover all of TracFone which included straight talk and total wireless gov won't stop this

@JerseyFox Arcade The network owner will always cost more. No one ever makes you enter a contract.

@William Adkins this one is boost infinite and it's been great so far i have it for the past month
I know, how about one of the many brands of TracFone wireless? Oh wait they were just bought by Verizon last year. 😡
This is awful. This is not exciting news at all. This further monopolizes the mobile provider industry, and now T-Mobile can do whatever they want with pricing.
"Addt'l taxes, fees & restrictions apply. New activation, upfront payment & 3 mo. purchase req'd."
Thats in reference to keeping the $15 plan the same.

I am happy with my mint plan. Ryan is a huge part of what brought me to the carrier. T-mobile is rediculously expensive. I left t-mobile / sprint after the merger. I will hang on to see how it goes after I have to renew. Openness, low prices, good service/ customer is everything.
I wouldnt worry about it. Mint's entire brand is about affordable wireless and good service, and Tmobile understands that. Changing that would drive the entire base that supported Mint in the first place.

I have an EXTREME and EXCEEDINGLY strong disdain for t mobile, I absolutely detest the company with every fiber of my being!!! I've been going out of my way to avoid t mobile for years!!!... every time I move to a different cellular company to get away from t mobile, they always end up buying out every single company that I turn to for service...

Welp, RIP Mint users when T-Mobile inevitably walks back all their promises on this and screws its customers over. Again.
As a Mint customer and a TMobile internet customer I think we can expect the same internet discount price of $30 (vs $50) in the future that Tmobile cell users get
Lol don't count on it. Only Magenta Max customers with more than one voice line get that discount price. It's a perk of being the most expensive plan. No other plans get it so unless Mint has a plan where you're paying at least $110 monthly, good luck brother. 🤞
That's just dandy if you live in a household with multiple lines, but I just left T-Mobile in January and there is no such rate for single lines. Not even close.
To be fair, I'm opposed to most acquisitions, as they lead to monopolies (whether through horizontal or vertical integration), which ultimately increase corporate profit at the expense of consumers. But I've always liked Ryan Reynolds, and this commercial is some of his best work. "Our incredibly improvised, and borderline reckless messaging strategy will also remain untouched." "Futilely craving some sort of illusory acknowledgment from my now-deceased father." If Mint sold a Blu-Ray of all their commercials, I would buy it, and I'm not a Mint customer. :p
I just switched to Mint to get away from T-Mobile. I will now be leaving Mint already after my 3 months is over. What a major let down. This just turned into a greed move by Mint. Also, the comments for this video are different throughout my accounts.
Mint is a T-Mobile wholesaler. If you switched to Mint you didn't get away from T-Mobile at all.
I'd at least lock in your rate for a year, I've been with Mint 5 years and they've been great. They've always used TMobile's network from the beginning. The issue here is they'll likely raise prices in a year or two once everyone has forgotten. So lock in that 12 month and you at least have some time before having to jump ship.
yep same here I`m on my second month with Mint. this sucks
Mint is TMobile smart one
Get on Boost $25/month unlimited plan, this company is ridiculous.
I was hoping this was a joke. I was waiting for Deadpool to come out and shoot them both. Sadly it is not. Not happy.
I switched to mint from Verizon to save 1500 a year. However I did take a dip in service as there are many places I have no cell signal at all. If prices go up I will leave as I believe they offset the loss in coverage.
Yep, that’s why I left T-Mobile and metrobytmobile the data breaches, used phones sold as new and the sneaking and putting you in auto pay
Be prepared for a price hike. That’s the reason for this acquisition. Be prepared.
The uncarrier becomes the Carrier!
Higher prices, higher profits, less competition, more layoffs, worse customer service, less wireless coverage.
Sounds like something we can all get behind 😃😃😃
Having phone and data service absolutely anonymously was what sold me on mint. Now, IDK what will happen, but any type of merger like this is never good for the consumer. Sprint destroyed Clear Wireless and I LOVED that service. I see messiness in the future.
This is terrible news.

Please have Ryan Reynolds do all future ads! 😂
He took the money and ran. I don't think he'll be back
He got bought out. He is done
$15/mo gets you what? Same as mint mobile or trimmed down? Miscellaneous fees tacked on the $15/mo? For how long is the pricing going to be continued?
My next stop will be pure talk if you raise prices excessively
Big fish eats little fish, only customers lose. At least Ryan gets it,he has a new "Daddy".
How about security against hackers? That needs to be a priority
How about you keep your demanding toner shut so we can keep it $15/month? You want protection this and that, then move to more expensive plan.
Ugh my husband and I have been Mint customers for going on 3 years now. We get the unlimited plan. While the $15 plan may stick around there is no way T-Mobile will allow the unlimited plan to continue. This is such disappointing news.

As a long term Mint customer I’m very curious as to where your going? TIA.
Total Wireless turned into absolute garbage once they became Total by Verizon. Who is taking bets the same happens here? Was planning on ditching them to go to Mint a couple months ago but decided to hold off because of the rumors Mint was being bought.
I hope nothing happens to this, as you sort of said once big carriers buy MVNOS then they become garbage. Not only total, but others like tracfone (and it’s brands), sprint, cricket, and probably more.
@@DG599 It’s the same thing that happened to Tracfone after Verizon bought it. “It’s Deja Vu all over again” as that great philosopher Yogi Berra once said.
Exactly this. TMobile has their own prepaid. So does Verizon. It's in their best interest not to support their new acquisitions to compete against themselves.
Then go to US Mobile. They use both Verizon and T-Mobile. In fact there Verizon side is the best you can get. My parents of US Mobile pool plan for like 37 a month. Unlimited talk and text and 10 gigs of shared data.
I was on US Mobile but I needed better coverage and ATT has the best coverage in Michigan. So I went with Cricket Wireless. I have there 60 dollar plan which works out to 55 a month. It's like I'm on ATT top plan.
