//NEW ASTRONOMY UNIT FOR 5TH-8TH GRADERS!!!//
ALSO... check out my BRAND NEW Astronomy course. I created this because I couldn't find anything I liked for teaching this subject. It uses beautiful, nonfiction information books as its spine, activities/experiments, additional literature (novels, graphic novels, fiction and nonfiction), and linked RUclips videos. This unit is a 1/2 year course intended for the middle grades (5th through 8th), but can be adapted up or down depending on how you use it. You can find a FREE 29 page sample here: bit.ly/3KPq91a

What resource are you must excited about using in your homeschool this year?
We are currently on our second year of Whirlwind World History. It is the perfect course to split like that. I hope your daughter enjoys it as much as my kids do.
Oh awesome! I'm really excited for her too! I hope she really likes it!
The remarkable journal of professor Gunther Von Steuben is from Cover Story with Clear Water Press.
Ah… that is so helpful! I was so confused! lol I would have returned it!
I often buy books as we go along with our curriculum!!! Seeing my teen daughters books its about the same as sonlight!!! We love using books for learning!!! We love hands on learning!!!
That's a great way to do it! Just get them as needed :)
I started editor and chief with my middle daughter this year and she told me the other day that it is one of her favorite things this year.
Oh nice! I think the boys will like it!
Wow! I love all the books. I can't wait to hear more about your Earth Science curriculum. Good luck and happy first day of school!
Thank you! We had a good first day. It's nice that the kids sort of know what to expect as we are heading into our 5th year of homeschooling!
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool It is our 5th year as well (since the pandemic) and I noticed a big change in my son this school year. Its been 6 weeks and yesterday was the first day he complained or gave me some kick back during school.
@@PlannerHomeschoolingMom that is so great! I actually remember that my current 6th grader really impressed me last year in that way as well! He could suddenly do the work without my constant nagging! Unfortunately, my current 7th grader went off the deep end towards the end of 5th grade and we had 9 or more months of hard struggle 😅 Hopefully your 5th grader will not experience that extremes we did. That being said, that child has been doing great his first 2 days of 7th grade!
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool I'm glad to hear that everything so far is going good. I love watching all your videos, you are my favorite homeschooler to watch. ☺
@@PlannerHomeschoolingMom awe… thank you so much ❤️
I think the journal you weren’t sure about is from Clearwater Press! For their Cover Story
lol! Someone else do watches this video told me that! I would have had no idea and given it back. But then, I did read the beginning of the teacher manual today. So I might have figured it out eventually!
How do you plan out reading all your books? I struggle with keeping up with reading, would love some suggestions. Thanks!
So, I try to start my year by looking to see if any of the books are on audio (and where I can get them for free). If I can find them for free (usually library or Everand... I do keep a subscription for that) then I have a copy of the books and I note where I can get the audiobooks. Then, we try to do as many of those in the car when we are driving around. Next, I make sure that my kids are spending at least 20-40 mins a day reading (scheduled into their day in some way). Finally, when we have too many books to read, I'll just offer my kids some options of what we have and we skip a few here and there. With multiple literature based courses, it can get tricky. We also have no issue with taking more time to complete a level.
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool thank you! I’m going to look into some audio books for sure.
