Piazza della sopra Minerva Obelisk

Egypt in Rome part four: the obelisk of Apries in the Piazza della Minerva. This wonderful pink granite obelisk was discovered during the 17th century buried in the nearby ruins of an ancient Roman Temple to Isis and Serapis! The Romans sure did love their Egyptian antiquities - and the Egyptian gods too! This is the only obelisk i know on the back of a pachyderm!
