Max Stier: "Have done something that would embarrass this administration?"
Stephen:"Have you seen this administration?"
True 😂😂😂😂
That is the most patient man in the world.
Very sharp, but perhaps also well-trained to maintain self-control.
I'm going to say he might be a good diplomat.
He's good. Gently flexible with people who don't suit. Able to make conclusions fast. It's a fucking shame he has to staff the Trump whitehouse. He has amazing depth of analysis and doesn't get rattled...and more than that he can keep talking when most folks who are getting nailed by Colbert stop talking. What a remarkable person.
Brian Philbrick i
Most governments are filled with people like that, keeping their head down and making things work in spite of their crazy leaders
When I read the title I thought it meant Stephen was gonna fill those positions himself. I'd like a government that's 60% Stephen Colbert
The fact that the president doesn't have to be held to the same standards as an applicant for, say, an Undersecretary is absurd. There should be a hard competency test to even be allowed to run in the first place.
Political parties used to screen candidates. . . .in the good old days.
a presidential candidate didnt even know what aleppo was, the fact that ANYONE can run for the highest office in the world is fucking insanity
JackgarPrime 👏
Hear hear.
The only problem with that would be it kinda undermines democratic elections, not that I'm necessarily against screening, but competency tests come with a load of problems when you actually try to use them for politicians. For example, what would be the questions? Who would mark them? Could these tests be corrupted and used to block out actually decent candidates?
“ would you like to be assistant secretary for nuclear energy?”
“Sorry, I’m not American...”
“Ah, it doesn’t matter.”
Yep. With all the Russians around, we might as well have some other nationalities.
Kuroda Cursus are you saying that nationality equals ethnicity?
Cami H “You’re not American? Great, that means I can pay you less than the minimum wage and push you around. MAGA!”
Because that’s what he does allegedly.
Cami H
Trump's Secretary of Transportation is the daughter of a Chinese shipping, trading, and financing billionaire tycoon. And Bitch McTurtle's wife, I just found out. I'm still disgusted by the crony capitalism at play here, as well as the fact that she's actually a veteran of 3 Rethugliklan administrations, but now I also feel sorry for her having to look at that thing every day.
Dak Lamerbusch
I wouldn't call them shithole countries. At least they have universal healthcare.
As soon as he said "do do" I knew Stephen wasn't gonna let that go...
He's no Chandler Bing.
yeah, he is so similar to a child at recess. thats why stupid people love him so much.
KUZER2 yup! That was ripe for picking.
@Archer Lansky. Envy is such a cheap and sordid trait.
archer lansky Oh fuck off you boring nazi bell-end.
That guy is such a good sport
Yes. Such a pleasant person.
benedictify i
Probs a fan of colbert
I know. I hope the got a selfie. Lol.
Poor random foreign woman. She's just walking through DC, when a weird American man in a suit with a camera behind him chases her with a name tag.
Montesama314 Not only that.. five seconds later she's responsible for U.S. nukes... while Trump is president..
...poor woman indeed!!
Wow.. it's so weird that you didn't say, Asian woman.. Americans always add these adjectives.. ALways.. It was refreshing somehow reading a comment like this..
You sir/mam have a good day..
Rahul chhikara Might be because we're not americans, although I have no idea if OP is american or not.
Sometimes it's makes sense to describe people but other times is simply not needed.
Lol she didnt wanna be in charge of nukes XD
It's her own fault. That woman should know that if she doesn't want to be chased with a name tag by a weird man in a suit with a camera behind him, then she shouldn't come to America in the first place. What did she expect?
This whole segment was brilliant!
More please!
Max Stier was so patient, he’s a saint!
Colbert: "This administration?" I died laughing.
"have you seen this administration" That bar is so low it's painted on the floor....
Wow, Stephen vets his choices far more thoroughly than the administration does.
Thanks for sinking to my level. “He said Doo-doo”😆
Guy: have you done something that could embarrassed this administration...
Stephen: well, I don’t know, have you seen this administration?
Me: I died 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ricardo Productions that was a masterpiece haha 😂
Ricardo Productions
Your Dead.
But left a Comment.
These Smartphones are taking over lol...
Still. Not as scary as Chump 🤣
The kid who got fired for not knowing where Kandahar is, lasted longer than some of Trump's appointees.
TheReal008Zulu and knew more
TheReal008Zulu
I'm wilking to bet you could find members of Trump administration who don't know where Kandahar is.
Who the fuck knows that!?! Lmaooo
I do...
Anyweather Never ever Everyone who watches the news. Seriously. Lmaoooo!
7:16 I love how she tries to run away from scary American.
I’m an Asian woman and if it were me, I’d be chasing Stephen , not the other way around 😂
I would. America is actually pretty scary. I've been there as a tourist and if someone had run at me with a camera and a mic I'd take off like I'd been shot. The last thing I would want to do in DC is make a statement on anything that might result in my being unable to go home.
Give it up for Max! The only guy I've actually liked in this administration! He's so polite and sweet!🤗🤗
He is not part of the administration...
Vys Erion Not directly...
+tesalonica Not remotely, they have apparently been around for 17 years... so they do it for every administration as need be.
He's part of a non-profit, so he's not really a part of the administration. He is, however, a patriot.
I think that's why they put Mr Stier's full name on screen, because he has demonstrated to be very sharp, well mannered and professional. The Colbert job interview might be the hardest job interview to crack and he passed it with flying colors.
This guy is hilarious! Managing to make a serious point whilst bouncing off Colbert with dry-straight-faced wit is brilliant!
"What's the interview process like?", "It's harsh", "Is there a spanking machine?", (Barely a flicker of a smile) "Not that harsh". LOL RESPECT!
I want these kinds of videos every week lol, full on Daily Show/Colbert Report vibes.
wait aren't you the guy in every electronic music video in youtube?
임희준 no, he’s Batman
Field piece Fridays, please!
I'd be honored if some Colbert fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of Tom Petty's INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN and Prince's MONEY DON'T MATTER 2 NIGHT on my channel in tribute to 2 of the most legendary artists that the USA has ever produced. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and pardon the promo.
I thought the same thing!! So much Daily Show/Colbert Report Nostalgia!!
This is not Stephen Colbert from the Late Show. This is Stephen Colba[re] from the Colbert Report.
God i miss that guy
Me too. He had an edge to him like this bit demonstrates
Can't blame him. He's enjoying his retirement in the cabin in the woods with Jon Stewart
Agreed, he should do more of these in his own show ^^
These field pieces are where Stephen shine the brightest! Keep’em coming!!!
One of the best segments in a while, on any late night comedy. It's so, so good to see such quality and authenticity on TV!
I feel like he interrupted this guy a little too much but still a quality interview
Apple Pi that's the joke
DUH LOL
The Pepeknd it's annoying..
That's what makes it funny, it's not a serious interview. He does the same with all his "interviews".
Agreed. A tad annoying.
Max Styer(sp?) CEO Partnership for Public Service is unflappable and hilarious as a straight man and actually so articulate and knowledgeable. What a good sport! He and Stephen make a good team! This opening monologue is THE funniest Stephen has ever done. He takes a very serious and sad issue and gives us a chance to laugh instead of sobbing and sinking into a deep depression (sorry, didn’t mean to get into my personal state of mind) although i will just say, i think i would have gone insane by now if not for the wit of one of our greatest political pundits (Colbert) and some of his contemporarys.
I love that the Colbert in these off-site/interview videos is Stephen Colbert from the Daily Show, NOT Stephen Colbert from the Late Show. The satirical sarcastic shtick is just as funny if not funnier now after not seeing it for so long.
Mr. Stier... Glad you were such a good sport. Must hv been hard with that line of questioning. But hey, that's Colbert being Colbert. Hope you can let it go. Please continue your good work.
Colbert needs to do more of these type of segments.
Like the NASA one and the H&R block segments.
The interviews are gold.
"Have you seen this administration?"
Lmfao
So... what, wait. Beating a sea turtle with a flashlight because you were high would embarrass the administration, but Ben Carson stabbing people and hunting them with baseball bats, that's okay...?
Tiia Mannix
Welcome to Trump's America.
Please send help.
And just imagine how much those baseball bats must have costed - judging by Carson's expensive taste, they must have been made of mahogany, with silver and mother of pearl inlay! I do hope they were not damaged as he used them on people, I mean - THAT would have been embarrassing... Urgh! But they could employ more people if they opened new government agencies, since they obviously do not care about filling the current ones - how about creating a "Federal Government's Highly Expensive Carpentry Agency" or "Federal Government's Eastern Europe Brides Import for FLOTUS Agency"? Or "Federal Government's White House Mischief and Mayhem Clean-up Agency"? A "Federal Government's Extreme Breast Enlargement for First Daughters Agency? A "Federal Government's Distribution of Royal Princess Titles to First Daughters Agency"? So much to do, so little time... :D
Grab them by the pussy is also ok, or (tthe desire for) incest.....all ok
Tiia Mannix yea I mean stephen literally laid that or for him and that dude bit the fuck out of it and ended up looking like an idiot
on amazon if you go to buy a baseball bat the 'most bought together' list is; baseball (obviously) and balaclava 🤣🤣
Give that guy a job, Stephen. These interviews tend to be awkward and/or bland, but that guy was actually funny (or it could just have been the editing).
Pan de Coco. Well he seems like a pretty smart guy and has pretty witty answers to silly questions.
Pretty sure he's already got one.
This is Stephen from the Colbert Report. If you had seen him in the old show how he conducted his interview this is pretty much it.
He probably makes a lot more that Stephen would pay
his moral backbone.
"Will you represent the values, visions, and the policies of President Trump?"
"I would do what is best for the United States of America and its' people..."
"So that is a hard NO!"
LOL
That guy was awesome! Lots of patience. Really good sport about it all!
Have to admit, the guy you interviewed handled that unbelievable well.
That Max guy at the beginning handled Stephen better than most folks I have seen. I was impressed with his attempt to remain professional. Good Job. Maybe he should fill a senior cabinet position.
jim ford he is so being wasted on this administration. Max was able to just plow through in Ernest without cracking and what's more...without going silent.
It was memorable and admirable. Plus he seemed intent on remaining apolitical. "Just the facts, Maam" or in this case "sir". We could use a lot more folks like Max in all walks of life.
Ok that's one of the top 5 burns I've ever heard from Stephen omg!! "Sinking ship seeks rats"
That was badass dude.
I love it when Colbert does these interviews. Takes me back to when he was on the daily show.
I can't get enough of Colbert. I have to say this clip is the best one I've seen in months. Looks like Stephen was having a lot of fun with the vetting process. :)
I think he likes being out from behind that desk. He's at his best when he has a little freedom to improvise. I still wish he didn't take this job...I knew they would force him into the typical late show pigeon hole like all the rest and he would lose some of his edge. I still adore him. He is the love of my TV watching life. lol.
EFN stupid ass
Can't watch him dork I'm totally turned off !,
Jail him !!
You know it's bad when even rats won't fill the vacancies in this sinking ship.
people who survive Colbert's interviews. Those are the real heroes.
Honestly, these episodes with Colbert out in the real world like in the old days, are the best!
It’s not that hard. All you have to do is not fire people daily.
They keep quitting. They don't want to go down with the Sinking Ship that is Drumpf's Administration.
Native yup that's also true, Trump is hard to work with. I heard he was a loner in Trump tower up floor except prostitutes that says alot, but yet again with his children he feels not lonely anymore as in the 80 and 90's when he was
twinodoom or make it a better, less insane work space so people don’t just quit.
@Natalie ty :) , it sounded right in my german ears but got it wrong in translation
They quit or are fired because they were not qualified for the jobs in the first place. Most have no credentials for the position other than they donated money. And once they realize it's real work and serious business, they are out of there.
I don't think the vetting process is that harsh at all, just look at Trump's cabinet members and every other appointee.
Toad Jiang EXACTLY!!!
Honestly, no matter what your political beliefs are, Trump's administration is woefully inadequate and is an embarrassment to our planet.
"to our planet" - Do you expect other planets laughing at ours?
Just planet and not existence itself?
Nah, it's an embarrassment to you guys, for the rest of us non-Americans is our laughing stock.
Vi Haze
"PLANET" ???
I heard Klaatu is on his way back with Gort.
It's worse than you think lol tear...
True the aliens be judging us so hard right now
Finally! Someone shines a HUUUGE light on this & it's a talk show host! Our federal government is coasting until it crashes.
It's like seeing work pile up on what's-his-name's desk who's out on leave. Work is ok until u can't bc what u need is deep in that pile & hasn't been handled.
Greatest comedian in America. God bless you Stephen Colbert, love from England.
*"HAVE YOU DONE SOMETHING THAT COULD EMBARRASS THIS ADMINISTRATION" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL*
Stephen Colbert =Awesome.
😄😂😄
I love that the guy he's interviewing is trying to be serious, but obviously finds it funny :-D
"Have you seen this administration?" LMFAO
Why did the Asian lady run away from him LOL that was funny but I felt bad for her.
I imagine she didn't know what was going on and thought he was mad.
Atanalo she didn't want to be on TV.
Asian tourist get scared easily. Watch some Billy On the Street
You haven't seen Japanese television? So many prank shows.
she was clearly embarrassed.
The Stable Genius can do it all on his own apparently.
The return of Comedy Central’s Colbert, lol
hello i am Indian and i am going friend recvest .
STEPHEN COLBERT IS A GENIUS PERSON
Wow, this made made me feel much much better. I was worried for nothing. Thanks Colbert!
Ahhh thank you for a breath of fresh comedy
Oh, nice to see that Toby Flenderson continued his HR Career.
What Stephen did there was the same technique Donald Trump uses in his Presidency. Say or do something and while everybody is trying to respond in an intelligent way, he moves on to something else. Keep saying or doing something... anything it does not matter what. Just keep zooming along. Very effective actually.
“We have Dennis Rodman”
“I can’t argue with that”
“I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t, the man’s so dangerous in the paint”
😂😂
You know what? Some of these people may actually be more qualified than those serving the POTUS right now.
Trump's government is as vacant as Trump Taj Mahal.
KingOfMadCows .... is that what he's calling his baby hands these days?! Tragic
yeah that so depressing walking by it on the boardwalk
Or, you know, his own head.
John Hayes but hey, free matresses :D They open the hard rock casino in summer that's at least something
Trump has a Taj Mahal? What an affront, does he even know what it stands for?
No wonder this government is doing everything half-ass, they’re missing half the offices.
I love it when Stephen becomes his own correspondent.
This is the best segment I've seen in a long time 😂😂😂😂 Please do more of these Stephen!!
I love it when Colbert goes back to his Bill O'Reilly character.
The man needs to be let out from behind that desk more often!!!
These type of segments take me back to the good ol' Colbert Report days! Keep up the great work as always, huge fan since day one!
I'm so glad they upload this stuff to RUclips. Pure gold. We don't have someone like Stephen on German TV... :-/
Dayum Colbert can make anything funny. Noble stuff for sire
"I was high and thought he was a monster" Stephen Colbert 2018
"smoke"
"let's hold our standards" LMAO
It has been a long time that I actually laughed out loud because of a Stephen Colbert skit but that was just good xD
"Have you done anything that could embarrass this administration?"
"Well, for starters, I've had an affair with at least one porn star."
"Alright then, I think you're cut out for President."
Sinking ship seeks rats!!! How appropriate!!!
Stephen Colbert this is your best interview ever.
Please keep it these coming Stephen...nothing better than Stephen Colbert improv during those interviews...really missed them from The Colbert Report!
In all seriousness it really goes something like this, "Did you donate to the Trump campaign? Okay, your in."
It's a shame she didn't get the "Highway to the" part. I would have pulled a Archer "DANGER-A ZONE"
It's too bad Colbert didn't say that the NASA position had already been filled when she said, "Moon".
To be fair, I didn't get it either until the third clip.
I kept thinking "hell" and couldn't go back to that distant, innocent time.
This is mega-funny! Stephen Colbert is fantastic - and the interview partner reacts very delightfully!
"Have you seen our administration" Gold.
Those last few moments are Emmy!
this guy reminds me of toby from the office
1 on 1 interviews really are Stephen at his finest.
😂😂😂😂 His composure is amazing because Colbert would have me in tears!!!!
Serious question: can I meet the new director of the national counterterrorism center?? 👀 8:20
LOL!
Right! Look at that brilliant smile 😎😎
Right? He's so cute
*former director of the national counterterrorism centre
Those are some nice glasses. I've been struggling to read what brand they are for like 2 minutes now but I can't make out the words.
“This is not a metaphor, I had sex with a Cinnabon.” 😂😂 Wiiiiiild
8:25 "I got a head of the federal election comission!" I'm still laughing
The beauty of satirical news is they realize the question that no one thinks to ask in the heat of the moment and once they get that chance BAM! Guess how screwed up this system is.. dang Stephen. Once again, thanks 👏👏👏
WRAP MY RESUME AROUND A CHEESEBURGER?
I LOOOVE THIS VIDEO, laughed so hard
3:14
Stephen: "I wanna point out that you just said 'doo-doo'"
Me: "My thoughts exactly."
That segment was Colbert report level funny. He should definitely do that every week
their salary goes to expensive furniture for their offices , no money left for staff
the fcc doesn't have a commissioner? quick, everybody! swear on tv!
Colbert is too funny. I love the head of the Federal Election Commission. lol
That guy was sharp. He got even the subtlest humor, actually had a sense of humor, wasn't able to be tricked, and kept to the point.
this guy is so perky and nice, i can't believe Stephen had to be so annoying to him.
They always tell the people they are intervewing beforehand that they are going to be annoying and stupid on purpose and not to take offense, it's part of the comedy and helping them get their point across.
yes i know but i cant help but feel bad for the guy :P
Patricia Abreu totally!
Although I think he did respect him but edited out their full conversation..
At least I hope so.
agreed. it was annoying to see him interrupted an infinite amount of times.
He handled it quite well though
Matt Stier is hilarious
'Have you seen this administration?" LOL
" Diagnosed?" OMG!!!! haaaaaaa! I can't, oh no!
That would be so cool if positions would have been filled like this. They'll work better than those people Trump hires.
