He's good. Gently flexible with people who don't suit. Able to make conclusions fast. It's a fucking shame he has to staff the Trump whitehouse. He has amazing depth of analysis and doesn't get rattled...and more than that he can keep talking when most folks who are getting nailed by Colbert stop talking. What a remarkable person.

The fact that the president doesn't have to be held to the same standards as an applicant for, say, an Undersecretary is absurd. There should be a hard competency test to even be allowed to run in the first place.

The only problem with that would be it kinda undermines democratic elections, not that I'm necessarily against screening, but competency tests come with a load of problems when you actually try to use them for politicians. For example, what would be the questions? Who would mark them? Could these tests be corrupted and used to block out actually decent candidates?

This opening monologue is THE funniest Stephen has ever done. He takes a very serious and sad issue and gives us a chance to laugh instead of sobbing and sinking into a deep depression (sorry, didn’t mean to get into my personal state of mind) although i will just say, i think i would have gone insane by now if not for the wit of one of our greatest political pundits (Colbert) and some of his contemporarys.

And just imagine how much those baseball bats must have costed - judging by Carson's expensive taste, they must have been made of mahogany, with silver and mother of pearl inlay! I do hope they were not damaged as he used them on people, I mean - THAT would have been embarrassing... Urgh! But they could employ more people if they opened new government agencies, since they obviously do not care about filling the current ones - how about creating a "Federal Government's Highly Expensive Carpentry Agency" or "Federal Government's Eastern Europe Brides Import for FLOTUS Agency"? Or "Federal Government's White House Mischief and Mayhem Clean-up Agency"? A "Federal Government's Extreme Breast Enlargement for First Daughters Agency? A "Federal Government's Distribution of Royal Princess Titles to First Daughters Agency"? So much to do, so little time... :D

What Stephen did there was the same technique Donald Trump uses in his Presidency. Say or do something and while everybody is trying to respond in an intelligent way, he moves on to something else. Keep saying or doing something... anything it does not matter what. Just keep zooming along. Very effective actually.
