- Today President and Mrs. Obama announced they are proud to honor the memory of Hadiya Pendleton with the naming of the Hadiya Pendleton Winter Garden at the Obama Presidential Center.
By naming the Winter Garden for Hadiya Pendleton-a 15-year-old Chicago teen who was killed on the South Side of Chicago just eight days after performing with her majorette squad during President Obama's second inauguration-the Obamas hope the space will be a constant reminder of Hadiya’s legacy and a place to gather, connect, and hopefully to better understand the boundless potential that lies within each of us.
