I don't need imaginary gods to give my life meaning.

If there is no eternal, moral law giver, and we are just star dust bumping into each other, then there can't be any objective meaning in our existence.

_"then there can't be any objective meaning in our existence."_
"Objective meaning" doesn't exist, god or no god. "Meaning" doesn't just exist on its own. It's always meaning _to_ someone. Things have meaning to me, they have meaning to you, they might have meaning to your god, if he's real and not simply imaginary, but they don't just... have meaning. Meaning, like value, is _inherently_ subjective.

@@Bill_Garthright of course objective meaning exists. Everything has a purpose. Food has the purpose to nourish us. Sex has the purpose to multiple living creatures. The earth's magnetic field has the purpose to protect us from dangerous cosmic radiation. There are many examples.

_"I found answers in the Bible that I didn't find anywhere else."_
_True_ answers, or just answers that you _wanted_ to be true?
_"So I think that these circumstances God is using to shape different aspects of our character"_
So, you prayed and got no result. But rather than face the fact that your god might be just imaginary, you decided to rationalize the failure away. So, do you even _care_ about the truth of your beliefs? It seems obvious to me that there is nothing that will keep you from just believing whatever you _want_ to be true, regardless of anything else.
_"When you look at the critiques of a Christian faith or religion in general, they fall in two basic categories"_
Really? You missed _completely_ the problem that there seems to be no good reason to think that it's actually _true._ But then, maybe the truth of your beliefs doesn't matter to you?
The truth matters to _me._ And since evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking, I'm always asking theists for just *one* piece of good evidence, specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself, that their religious beliefs are actually _true._ So far,... nothing. It's rare that at theist will even _try_ to present anything distinguishable from wishful-thinking.
_"But then an illness comes, or someone dies"_
And suddenly you need wishful-thinking, instead of reality?
_"perhaps being able to have hope even when circumstances seem hopeless"_
Again, just wishful-thinking, huh? Well, that's why I'm an atheist. I care about the truth. I _care_ about the _truth._
And I think that the truth _matters,_ too. When we reject the reality of global warming, for example, just because we don't _want_ to make any effort to fix it, then our environment just gets worse and worse. Unfortunately, we live in the _real_ world, not the fantasy world some of us might prefer. And ignoring problems just makes them worse.
_"I mean, God can still do... what he wants to do"_
    Not if he's just imaginary.
OK, this video is titled "This Philosopher could be right about Christians & Atheists," but what does _any_ of this have to do with us atheists? You didn't even _mention_ atheism, did you? Sorry, but this certainly seems to contain nothing of interest to _me._

If God doesn't exist, why does the truth about global warming matter? In this allegedly billions and billions of years old universe, the earth, it's inhabitants, and it's climate are less then insignificant.

Without God, the truth about global warming doesn't matter. In this allegedly godless universe, this earth, it's inhabitants, and it's climate, are less than insignificant.
