    Alistair is a solid teacher. He said the lady could attend as long as she made sure her grandson understood that she did not approve of the marriage etc. Alistair said he gave this advice to an individual in his church and might never give the same advice a different person. This was a good podcast! I have his books and sermons and intend to KEEP THEM! he still did good work for the Kingdom! I am from Singapore and Steve Lawson had a big impact on my life too! My jaw literally dropped when I heard the news.. n was sad for like 2-3 days upon hearing this.. I hope that his friends like Macarthur and the rest do not Abandon Lawson and leave him out in the cold... i don't agree with like his sermons being totally removed and books too! Its like he's being ERASED now... Christians seem to have a strange contradition. We are quick to JUDGE and JUDGE HARSHLY but fail big time to practice Grace and Mercy.. We never seem to come alongside and say: Hey man.. we hate the sin but we love you.."...
    but yea.. i don't agree really... but i just pray for him and his family... that being said, I like your response in being Gracious to Pastor Lawson and even wanting him to appear at the Shep Conf.. i hope he appears as well and that the brothers around him do not judge him but come and pray with him and so that real Christlikeneness... i Hope So!

    The greatest thing about our LORD is that HE understands the fallen nature of mankind, died on that cross for the atonement of our sins, that HIS great mercy will redeem us and forgive us if we turn to HIM in the true humility of repentance. Religion is notorious in not teaching how hidden sin opens the door of our soul to dark energy that drives our behavior into more and more sinful behavior. No one lectures much on how to resist the devil so the dark cycles are cauterized from our emotions and memories so that it can no longer drive us down that slippery slope that leads to destruction. Jezebel is alive and well in it's spiritual effort to destroy the church. Seduction and lust comes from both angles.

    GCC did an update on John MacArthur. He is looking to continue with Revelation in October. The sermon by Mike Riccardi today was in response to what happened with Lawson. It was comforting. Lawson was pretty doctrinally sound. If someone with his education can fall, it hits people hard. I must disagree that we need the details about Lawson. We are not members of his church, we are not part of his church discipline. For us, it is just being nosey.

    • @religionlesschristianity
      @religionlesschristianity  Месяц назад +1

      I hope that Dr. MacArthur does get back soon. As for being nosey, maybe it is, but I attend the Seminary Dr. Lawson taught at, I've sat under his teachings online, which he has made his ministry. He isn't a small church pastor. He has a worldwide ministry and I think there is value in understand the why and how, not just the what. I think Tony Evans should do the same thing. These men decided to be international in their ministries, so they should make their repentance known internationally, in my opinion.
      Heck, I have repented on this Podcast for things that I did because I have chosen to have an online presence and ministry.

  • @cindybraddock1222
    @cindybraddock1222 Месяц назад +2

    Logical questions here. Why do we need the name of the woman? This is a church discipline issue. Why the announcement for Steve? Because he can't just disappear. Your pastor, the host of One Passion, the seminary, Ligonier... He can't just become a missing person. We are not commanded to know this. However, every public ministry or teaching position that Steve held did "church discipline". There had to be statements made. But her? What sermons did you listen to of hers? If she is in his church, church discipline will be done. You know, the whole church doesn't even get to know the details if they come to her and she repents. There is a massive difference. She can stay quiet and repent. Not our business. It is called being nosey.

    • @religionlesschristianity
      @religionlesschristianity  Месяц назад

      We don't need anything, but we were just saying that if the woman had character she would make a statement. She can stay hidden, but she shouldn't is my point. Unless she was abused, she willingly chose this sin and it has caused concern for many. As for the announcement from Steve, which Church is this a discipline issue from? Is it Trinity? What about Grace, what about The Master's Seminary? Steve Lawson has chosen to make himself a teacher for millions all over the earth. Saying all those who have sat under his teachings online, at the Seminary or through his writings don't deserve a better understanding of what happened I think is wrong. I also think it's cowardly and I hope Steve Lawson isn't cowardly. I think the same thing about Tony Evans. He has nearly as large of a presence, we should hear from him.

    • @cindybraddock1222
      @cindybraddock1222 Месяц назад

      @religionlesschristianity Tony Evans is a mystic. He doesn't need to make a statement. He needs to stop teaching that garbage.
      Do we all need to make a public statement for our sins? She most likely isn't in charge of any ministry. She probably isn't famous. I do wonder about the timing of church discipline Sunday. Because people are nosey and it's none of their business, they put the stream on hold with a message saying they will be right back. This is not a common thing. It will be edited out of the final upload but I saw it happen in real time. So, maybe it was someone there 🤷‍♀️. But everyone's discipline is not our business. Unless she is a preacher at a false church, she has no statement to make. Only organizations that Steve was affiliated with have released a statement. He also isn't ours to discipline.
      To people who think these two need to make public statements, do you run around to local churches and ask for public statements be made of everyone who sinned? Just because we have social media it doesn't mean that every aspect of a person's life is now public information. I don't want a statement from him until, and if he chooses to make one, until his walk with Christ is back on track. Then this could become a teaching moment. I never would have thought he could fall this hard. But I'm not about to think I am owed public statements from any of them. Not Steve. Or her. Or Steve's wife. I can pray for them without reading the equivalent of a trash novel.

  • @cathydanks8908
    @cathydanks8908 Месяц назад +4

    Alistair Begg, if I'm understanding this correctly, urged the grandmother to show love and compassion to her grandson, with the hope of possibly getting him saved. This was a kind, merciful, loving response. In NO WAY was Steve Lawsons behavior somehow better, just because he "confessed". Jesus hung out with prostitutes and tax collectors, but He damned the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. Steve Lawson succumbed to his lusts, Alistair Begg "succumbed" to compassion.

    • @religionlesschristianity
      @religionlesschristianity  Месяц назад +1

      Sin is sin and we would do well to not classify one over the other. Confessing sin is what's important not justifying ours as better than others. Alistair gave advice that many, not just us, thought was unbiblical and he refused to receive correction. So, as we view it, that's more than compassion, it's pride and pride should be confessed and repented of. Even compassion doesn't make it right if it goes against scripture.

      We did not succumb to Calvinism, we came to understand Biblical Christianity. As Charles Spurgeon says, "Calvinism is Christianity."
      The Gospel call is open to all, unfortunately we are dead in our sins and unable to produce faith enough to believe on our own. Therefore God grants faith to those whom He elected before the foundation of the earth.
      As for Satan having more souls, Jesus Himself teaches that Satan will have more, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
