There is 10+ years of REN’s music on RUclips. He’s a genius and sings beautifully too. He said this genre is ‘Bardcore’ I think it’s ‘Bardass!’ I’ve watched it at least 100 times and it still makes me shudder when he stands and sings. 🖤
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 being a person who struggles with autoimmune disorders myself this song hits so much more. He's amazing I've heard this song over a dozen times and it hits harder with each time listening to it.
I could be wrong, but I think Ren is making the connection between the inner dark self and the Christian representation of "evil", and it's very clever. He said in a live stream about this song and video that he's not religious, he just appreciates the stories. So I think he's done a great job of conveying the idea that the notion of a supernatural evil is really just the manifestation of that dark and cynical voice in all humans. It's a very clever thing to do, because it makes these challenges far easier to confront and deal with. I mean, imagine being ill and being told that this is the result of some mythical all-powerful being that's existed for all eternity. How the hell (excuse the pun) are you expected to deal with that? How can you possibly build the tools to combat an immortal supernatural beast? If people were instead shown that this is just a dark part of all humans it brings it down to the human level, it makes it easier to live with, to deal with, and to overcome. Accepting that there will be dark and light, and that this is a pendulum that's always swinging, reminds you that everything is momentary, things do pass, things do get better, you can overcome that temporary state.
I saw this for the first time several days ago. I have watched no less than 50 reactions to this and checked out some of his other music. So many people relate to it in different ways. He had a record deal and became sick with Lyme disease and was lost that. It was undiagnosed for 8 to 10 years. He had chronic pain that left him bedridden for much of that time. His most recent song is called Sick Boi which I like a lot. Great reaction guy’s 😊👍✌️ I have no doubt other fans will be checking this out soon and know much more than I do.
I appreciate you giving the artist the majority of the screen, kudos. Everything about this masterpiece is outstanding, even the lighting casting two shadows…mind blown. This needs to be part of every high school curriculum.
Thanks for doing this! 😜👍🔥 Never seen you guys so quiet! 😂😂😂 Epic song. He was misdiagnosed for about 10 years. Was going through hell, with pain, being weak, etc Then the emotional stuff he was enduring, during all that time.
Ren is amazing, just started listening to his music and I haven't found one I don't like. This one though hit me just like it did Bulldog, I felt it in my soul. You'll love Bittersweet Symphony by him. See ya in the next live, that was fun. Aloha NuiLoa 🤙
Loved your reaction to this masterpiece. Watching your faces was priceless. You didn't pause it once which said so much. Thank you for reacting to this. Everything I've seen from Ren so far has blown me away! Hope you do the Tale of Jenny & Screech because it is so epic (but like 13 minutes long, it's a trilogy).
This young man was bitten by a tic and contracted Lyme disease and was misdiagnosed for years. He's had stem cell transplants here in the US and is now in Canada with more treatments. Possibly 6 months. He is an amazing artist and story teller. The next one should be the tale of Jenny and Screech. Full version. Thanks
@@jodierobertson5033 yes he is. Bruce’s response said that. I’ve just seen a lot of people say he had stem cell treatments in the US but his IG story from that time specifically talks about that being in Germany.
@@DyvmSlorm Nope. He did those stem cell treatments in the US, in LA actually, he wrote a whole passage on his RUclips Community tab about it. Stayed for 6 weeks with a family that had a son going through the same treatment.
I gathered a little background on Ren from his posts and an interview. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, and joints. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments and will have to be there for at least six months. Ren's Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, thyroid, adrenals, and bones. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." Let's keep supporting Ren and not pull a "Sony" on him as he undergoes his treatment. Check out his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times.
Epic, right? Blew my mind. One of those songs, like Geo said, "Makes you listen and think". Loved y'all's reaction. Real reactions draw ppl in, not just the artist you're listening to. ❤
Great reaction. "Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 3.5 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than 10 years. Ren’s songs are generally recorded live. His latest release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." I am 57 y/o, and I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. Many of his songs resonate with me because he addresses struggles that I myself face every day. He plays multiple instruments, has amazing vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. Check out the trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet." It is haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full),” which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music videos. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorite songs right now. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Oh My Woman," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," and so many others are equally impressive and really give you a sample of his vocal ability. Ren just released his latest single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next 6 months that he expects to be gone. "Sick Boi" is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren."
Been listening to Ren for a year or so, the guys a modern day bard, complete genius. Please listen to his trilogy of Jenny's tale Screech's tale and Violets tale, then have a listen to his band The Big Push. Staggeringly good.
Welcome to the tragic story of what I call the Ren Gouh rabbit hole. As we speak he is once again in the hospital in Canada. Listen to his trilogy, Jenny's tale, Screeches Tale and Violets Tale (IN THAT ORDER) or the songs Chaulk Outlines, Sick Boi, Money Game. Hell, listen to any Ren and you will be better for doing so. .
What’s amazing is this was live. This was the 4th take full run through. He’s amazing. He prefers to shoot all good music videos live.. or live at the time.
He was diagnosed bi polar at 17.. 5 years later they realised he was actually suffering from lymes disease... Up until about 2 years ago he was struggling with the growing pain... He eventually had stem cell replacement therapy and hes currently in Canada having further treatments and surgery due to kind donations and fund raising...
from what ive read, this song is highly representing his fight with his psychosis. he had a history of audio hallucinations of things like a second inner voice not his own taking him down darker avenues (the devil in this video), but he had his first visual hallucination after years of only audio hallucinations of a dark-complexioned man (hope/angel (possibly the 4th angel Phanuel in The Book of Enoc(my own interpretation of his story))) telling him it would all be alright, and name dropped Ren even though he never mentioned his name. (you can read this in the comment section in hi ren posted by ren himself pinned to the 2nd from the top i think.)
Please react to his trilogy! You can find all 3 songs in one video on his channel. It’s called “The take of Jenny and screech(FULL).” Or if you react to each song separately, just make sure you watch them in order. First Jenny’s Tale, then Screech’s Tale and lastly, Violets Tale. They’re all amazing!!!
I have Lupus which is Autoimmune disease. Plus PTSD with flashbacks from childhood trauma from 3-12 this was me and still is sometimes. Can you react to Monsters by James Blunt or Fire Away by Chris Stapleton?
He's talking about the human condition from his bubble.....we can all deeply relate to at least one part....it's more of a story told in chapter with different views???
Also at age 16 he was signed by Sony... They ditched him when he got ill... I bet they're Pi$$ed now and I hope he never signs a contract that would never benefit him...
