Not in passenger service they didn't, the absolute limit was and still is 125mph due to signalling. The 148mph record was a test train. BR trialed 140mph running with Class 91 locos on the East coast main line using flashing green signals for higher speed clearance but it didn't continue beyond that.
@@stumpy2000 I have heard from loco pilots that they used to go over 140 on the western line back in the 80s. I think the limit was always 125, but they managed to speed in certain areas.
Favourite route on train sim 3
I love trains!
The old class 43s used to run at 140-150 mph back in the 1980s on the western and northern lines. But they reduced the speed claiming it was unsafe.
Wow what made them say that
Uhh you sure? 43 have a fastest speed record of 148 mph……. How come it goes up to 150
@@beuhrail603 I mean he did say between 140 to 150

0:45 thats the metro announcement from my city (stockholm)
From what i've noticed ebbsfleet is split into two sections. The DC route which served thes regional routes and AC routes
Yeah, the DC route is on a bypass above ground heading towards Faversham. The AC route is on ground, towards Ashford, Margate etc.
That's the original speed of the shinkansen!
Why are the announcements chimes on this train the same as the Swedish Stockholm metro.
maybe the announcement system is Swedish?
What app do you use? To record this speed with footage
It's garmin at the bottom
