I respect an honest start up video of a cold start and not editing the video to make it appear to be only one attempt. Many others may not be as honest.
Don't blame you. This is the first time I even heard of this car, and as a lifelong fan of 1950s and 60s jaguars, Shelby cobras and Ferraris who barely explored anything else, I think this 85 lambo is my new dream car as well, never thought I'd say that but agreed man. Ten out of 10 easy
I know it looks inconvenient to have to try 5 times to get it to fire up but having driven a Lamborghini I can tell that it just adds to the theatrics. Even once it's started you need to fast idle for ages until it warms up. And then you need to drive it so delicately until the gearbox warms up. But then, it's awake. It's exciting. And loud. It's a real occasion. It doesn't matter that it's not very nice to drive and almost impossible to reverse. It's a great way to spend a Sunday morning. You get your blood pumping just cruising and revving through the gears. At the end of the dive you take it home, put it in the garage, wipe it down and put the cover back on. The show is over. It's time to go inside for a cuppa and have a discussion about how great that just was.
The owner needs an education on how to start a LP5000S Countach with side draft Webber carburetors. The first thing you do is turn the key to the first notch or accessory position. Once you have done this the electric fuel pumps will start running, after approximately thirty seconds the pitch coming from the electric fuel pumps will change. At this time the float bowls on all six carburetors are full of fuel and you push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor twice. Now you can crank the engine over while slowly depressing the accelerator. The engine will start immediately and you just need to feather the throttle a bit until the engine starts to get warm. Sincerely Vic
I was gonna say, he didn't sound like he was letting it prime first. I could hear the whine and then he tried to start it. That's a good way to burn out the fuel pump in it.
To all y’all saying “that just how carbs are” - when properly tuned, carb’d engines start immediately, even when cold and even after sitting. My carb’d Alfa starts first time, every time, even after not running for a couple of months. They work very well when maintained properly. They were phased out for emissions reasons - not because they don’t work well.
Agree 110%. I have a 56 Willy’s Jeep and a 68 MGB. Both were very difficult to start when I bought them. but after adjusting the carbs, both fire up immediately. Every single time.
It was this car on my wall in the mid 80s. I always said, "Someday, I will own something with the capabilities of that car." I didn't think it would be a Corvette, but there ya go. I was never a great fan of the Corvette, but the C6 Z06 was such a great platform for a project car. No car was ever so ridiculous as the 5000S (but in a totally awesome way). It has "character."
I've found the best way to start a cold manual transmission engine is to turn the ignition to position II to activate the fuel pump, wait a few seconds until it turns off, then depress the clutch and fire it up; opening the throttle ever so slightly if necessary. Those who are accustomed to automatics will do none of the above and will instinctively depress the brake and turn the key; thereby increasing wear & tear on the starter and draining the battery.
Nothing to do with the transmission. You can do that with any car. With diesels you have to, but i done it with all my cars, they always start smoother and a crank or 2 quicker
Da hat das Auto fahren noch Spaß gemacht in Deutschland.War eben eine andere Zeit.Mein Freund hatte geilen Sportwagen und ich 25 Jahre alt.Partys ohne Ende.
The cardboard under the car says a lot about why old Italian cars are a nightmare to own but thats also why you should own one. You have to be a true car guy to have one.
No you really don't. Being a car person means your really REALLY into cars. Because for your love of cars, you start to study about them and eventually you buy yourself a project car and then start modifying it up until you're finished. Just because you don't have an Italian car, it doesn't mean that you aren't a "true" car person
Most super hot cars motorcycles boats airplanes I don't care what if they've been sitting for a while they normally do not fire up immediately if you've had them you know what I'm talking about❤❤ thanks for the video nice job❤❤

Everyone in here making excuses, for one it was in a garage all night and not outside, and two it shouldn't take multiple tries to start. This ride needs a major tune-up, and check. That, or maybe it's not driven very often.
I just like them better than the newer ones of today. It's basically and barely a street legal race car. Of course every man would love to have one. Need anyone ask if I would. But would still rather spend that kind of coin on a pickup truck. Of course 4×4. Just don't care for all those tickets I know I'd get simply cause I wouldn't run.

Its carburator engine so yeah when its cold it can do that
Incorrect, try 'Harrys garage' for a correctly running countach?
Cardboard is part of the toolkit, still fantastic machine with soul
I've worked on a few of these years ago and you were bloody lucky to ever get one to start at all

Beautiful. Five pumps on the gas pedal, three hail Marys, and everything crossed.
This truly is what starting a countach from cold is like for most of the time.

year's of the most beautiful car's ....no debate about
Back when it was fashionable to write '2000' after every product name, Lamborghini wouldn't settle for less than 5000.

Ahh....you do know that the 5000 means 5000cc, as in the capacity of the engine or are you just trying to be smart and failing dismally.
Old school exhaust engine startup. It's a beast.

That’s pretty good for a V12
It's a "supercar" that was introduced in 1971 running a 5.0L V12 with six carburetors. What did you expect, a Toyota Corolla consumption. Stronzo.
