Once you open the box on depeche mode there is no going back.
OMG This
Perfectly stated. Once it's in your veins...
Depeche Mode is one of the best live band ever, no doubt. And Dave Gahan is one of the best frontmen ever. Each of their concerst is a kind of a religious experience. I've seen tem in live more than 35 times and I was never dissapointed.
I love DM since Speak & Spell came out. The only ones "playing live" were Vince Clark, Alan Wilder and Dave singing. And since years ago there are a drummer and a keyboard player that really build the show. Andy McCluskey from OMD told in an interview (Synth Britania?) that while in the USA gig with DM, they used to joke about what the fuck was playing Martin if the rest of them make everything. The answer was Martin only pushed the buttons in a calculator because his role was to be the manager.
I love them, but being honest they don't play "precisely" live...
The sound quality is epic. And the technical details for the drums and the synth. Just amazing.
I
Miss the earlier days. Hate the Live Drums on many songs.
@@djkenny1202 they have the drums linked to a midi system. So they play live, but can sound synth for old songs.
@@rahulshah1408 totally screws up Black Celebration. No idea why it’s all slow and tingly weird.
There is nothing like seeing Depeche live!
Well, there was Prince , 😂😂
They started as one of the pioneering new wave/synth pop bands from the UK in the early 1980‘s, quickly turned into the leading force of that genre. The live performances in the late 80‘s still sees them completely electronic on stage, only synths and drum computers. Then, for their massively successful Violator album in 1990, they adopted guitars into the electronic sound and became more and more a synth-rock act over the years, touching blues, jazz and even gospel in some songs. Still, their sound remained unique while they kept scoring hits. With over 100 million records sold, they are easily the biggest electronic pop act of all time. Nevertheless, they can play to stadiums and keep this weird cult approach that makes them so different. New album „Memento Mori“ went to #1 all across Europe, the tour is sold out everywhere
I am part of the DM OG fans (since 1982 when I was 13) and can't wait to see them on Tuesday!!! #GenX
@@ChristineKikiMacMe2 - Leave In Silence was the first Depeche Mode 7“ I bought in 1982. I also was thirteen.
I saw them in Oslo a few moths back. Was amazing
I Will see you in march, in Madrid, the two concerts.
They’re currently on tour selling out stadiums
If you think you’ve got goosebumps watching a live video performance, you can imagine what it’s like to be there live in person. After nearly 40yrs of being a fan I still get goosebumps when I see them live.
David has the ability to move a crowd like Freddie Mercury could. That is an amazing frontman.
Great reaction man, please do more Depeche Mode, you won't be disappointed. For example "Never Let Me Down Again" LIVE sounds awesome.
Yes please more Mode!!!
In terms of the best live song, NLMDA is unbeatable.
Yes to Never Let Me Down Again but first the album version
A song dedicated to addiction (heroine, alcohol)
Germany always had a special love for Depeche Mode. And...they are from England, Basildon, if i´m right
Totally agree! Germany is the home of DM!
👍
True and I'm not even German but Dutch and can confirm it.
Yes they are from Basildon Essex loved them for over 40 years. Awesome live
Especially Depeche Mode and Berlin ❤
40 years loving them! Dave is The crowd whisperer. They do whatever he askes them to do! Been there, felt it to my bones!
If you want to see crowd participation with Depeche Mode, you have to seem them perform "Never Let Me Down" live with pretty much any version because DM fans around the world know exactly what to do when that song comes on...
Depeche Mode are from England formed in 1980 and yes, they are very much still around. In fact, they are currently on their 18th world tour and they also got added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 on their 40 year anniversary. Sadly their Keyboard player Andy Fletcher passed away in 2020 though.
2022
Depeche Mode has a live album Titled "101" ( circa 1988 ). I never could stand live albums but that CD blew me away. Also watching Dave Gahan dancing in older recordings is kind of happy making.
According to him, when he started swinging his arms in his now trademark move, he thought some people might do it. Immediately, the entire Rose Bowl matched him.and blew his mind. And they kept going. The glory days before cell phones.
That was my first "album" by Depeche Mode (must admit that it was a bootleg dual cassette, was living in the Philippines at the time lol). I was 10, my older brother was into New Wave.
Depeche Mode are from England; they started in 1980. This song is from 1990. The performance is from the 2013 Delta Machine tour. I saw them then. Amazing. They're still making music and touring. I saw them again about a month ago in Atlanta! They're still amazing.
The song was released in 1990 but was fully recorded in 1989 and was held back for their Violator album release in March 1990, but the recording of the song was done and dusted in 1989, so theoretically it is still an 80s-decade song. Awesome song from the Synth-pop Kings. One of the best live bands on stage the world has seen. They have so much energy!)
I was there too... it was the 9. June 2013 ... there was 75k peoples... it was amazing...
@@abk2408 It really was!
Depeche Mode is one of the most influential and underrated bands ever. They have a unique sound and have always stuck to it.
Underrated? Where?
What to say then about Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) if they were the band that DM wanted to sound like? This was said by Vince Clark and other founder members of DM.
@@oskarobit thank God he left them after their first album. And, by the way, from that point of time OMD have been still just manoeuvring while DM's got it all - the melody, the chord progression, the voices, the choirs, the sounds and the fans of course.
It's like comparing a point to the upward curve
nice synth-pop songs vs vivd innovating masterpieces, take "Songs of faith and devotion" for a start and compare it to "Liberator"... both 1993... 😁
@@cyborgcukierberg Thanks what? Vince Clarke knew more about music than Martin, Fletch and Dave together: NINE songs of SPEAK &SPELL were signed by Vince. They really struggled for their second album because they were insecure without him. Yazoo had all the hits they didn't get in that times one after another. Luckily soon they add another member Alan Wilder: another genius who can play every melody without hesitation. In fact, Andy McClusky said that touring the USA, everybody made jokes about what Martin was doing on stage if he didn't play any keyboard (because Fletch and Alan played and Dave sung) so they concluded that Martin was the Band Manager and he was pushing the buttons in a calculator.
About OMD, is obvious you didn't heard too much of them. 'Dazzle Ships' was a decade ahead of its time. 'Liberator' was meh, but 'Songs of Faith' was quite the same. Every band had their ups and downs. Compare the hits of Depeche Mode up to mid eighties with: Joan Of Arc, Electricity, Souvenir, Enola Gay, Telegraph, Genetic Engeeniering, Tesla Girls...
BTW, none of them got a number one in UK to the day.
@@oskarobit 😁 nothing more I expected from a nice three-chord synth-pop band fan
agreed, OMD are nice, you're a nice guy too, have a nice time✋
You cant understand what an awesome album this was when it came out.
Magnificently produced, almost perfection. And i was a metalhead at the time.
They had massive crossover appeal
In Los Angeles they just sold out four nights in 15,000 plus person basketball arenas! The Mayor declared Depeche Mode Day.
This is pure devotion of the fans to the band - most of them are with band for 40 years through all the highs and lows and every live show is energetic storm. I know it.... I´m with them for more than thirty years ;-)
Great reaction!
One...I cannot fathom how you were unaware of their existence. Two...I'm jealous because you get to experience their entire discography for the first time.
Depeche Mode are globally successful. They are a phenomenal band. So many amazing songs
My personal favorite is People Are People... Unique sound and great message
Their kind of music is what was called New Wave in the 80's but their style is very unique though. I was lucky to see them in concert about 15 years ago.
Have loved them for 40 years . Still touring and still extremely beloved .. these songs are embedded in our subconscious minds . When u follow bands almost ur entire life they feel like family to our minds bodies and souls 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
When Dave says - "... boys and girls - Mr. Martin L..." - the audience picks up - "G-o-o-o-o-o-r-e" and Dave also sings, making a "slide" with voice. And at this time, Martin Lee Gore, the author of the masterpiece, is nearby, smiling, playing the passage on the guitar...
Interesting that you said there is no other band or genre to compare them to your first time listening to this, because that's what many long time fans say about them. What is Depeche Mode's genre? It's the Depeche Mode genre. Very insightful comment! You will find that EVERY album they have ever done is unique and no 2 are alike. I enjoyed your reaction very much (my first time seeing you) and I hope you continue down the DM rabbit hole you wont be disappointed. They are ALWAYS amazing live and everything live is better than studio!
We....., (Depeche Mode fans), will tell you... "Yep, that's Depeche Mode live". Absolutely love your reaction to this. From a proud Devotee. 👍 D🌹M
Take advantage of this tour they are giving and go see them live. It is one of the things one must do before dying.
Last month they gave 3 concerts in Mexico City, each night in front of 65 thousand fans. And there will be an official recording of those concerts in a documentary.
Yep bucketlist!
Depeche Mode are the best bands in the world, but also have the best and most loyal fans in the world. It is a special relationship between band and fans and gives the concerts a special atmosphere to this day. There are many who have been going on all tours for decades. I myself have been on every tour since the mid-eighties.
The band could dismantle the instruments during the concert, the fans would simply continue singing.
They started out as an early 80’s New Wave synth band. Guitars and live drums didn’t get incorporated until the 90’s. You will probably know one of their first hits from 1980 Just Can’t Get Enough. Try Never Let Me Down Again from the same tour. Live in Berlin 2013. They are a British band. By the way they are on a World Tour right now. Go see them. You might not get another chance.
Depeche on stage never left the club roots of their early days. Even 40+ years on, Dave brings it every night like it’s the last party on earth.
Us DM devotees are almost literally ravenous about our boys and their music! Another live video of theirs to check out is "Never let me down again" in Barcelona, 2009... you'll dig it! Two not live video suggestions are "In Your Room" and "Rush"... these 2 songs will give you a real taste of DM's breadth of style and creativity. Thanks for your wonderful reactions and I hope to see more from you and DM!!! ❤
Depeche Mode is one of the best bands of the 80s. Everything they did was amazing.
If you enjoyed this version of Enjoy the Silence, you will get a massive kick (and thoroughly enjoy) their 1983 or 1984 live version of their best song, EVERYTHING COUNTS. What a trip to see Dave and Martin so young, so talented during those earlier years. Just saw them last week in Los Angeles, they're legends
So beautiful to see you tear up over this great band, dear Brosef. You can imagine being a teenager, listening to this band and watching them change.
If you want to be amazed by another dM song watch “I Feel You” from the Faith and Devotional tour. Trust me.
I just saw them on last Sunday 12/3/23 here in San Francisco, same energy from the band, same energy from every crowd they got to!!! This is one of my personal favorite songs since I stared following them in the 80s! Thank you for sharing this video! (BTW..the girls on the background are live and move sporadically,...so cool!)
You’ve just hit the tip of the iceberg.
Check out their live performance of But Not Tonight from the same show to get a sense of their range.
OMG yes I was at that show in Tampa! Open air theater it was warm raining and just perfect!!! I had tears streaming down my face during that song!!! ❤
I loved your reaction - so genuinely joyful. :) Amazing band - I've managed to catch them live 6 times - 2 times in homeland Australia, 2 times in Germany, and 2 times in their homeland UK. This is their biggest hit, and remains so, and it was still in their first 10 years together. The girls on the screen are part of the films made for the show by Anton Corbijn. (Anton has more or less been their visual director since the late 80's ) . Another good live video to check out is Never Let Me Down Again - at the Rose Bowl - part of their live movie 101 in 1988.
DP is British, were inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame in 2019. The only group that is ours instead of all the other ones that we listened to. The blond dude recently passed away at 60 yrs old. Audience is probably screaming and this is due to the fact that the 80s had the easiest sing along lyrics. We listened to their music so much that we could recite the lyrics.
If you get the opportunity, listen to their double-disc release, "101". It's older - from the late-1980s, but it's all live, and absolutely incredible. You can catch their stage presence on that, as well.
I've been lucky enough to see Depeche Mode live four times now, and those four nights are highlights in my life. The crowd at a DPM show is like family, and everyone is full of joy. They really are an amazing band, and for me they have a special place in my heart forever (old lady, fell in love with them in college, in the 90s during the Ultra era).
I saw them in Orlando this past October on their Memento Mori tour. It was the best concert I've ever been to. Dave Gahan, through every song, in every concert, looks like he is having the time of his life. I'm so glad he conquered his addiction. ♥
I was at that show! It was incredible!
I seen them in 8 live concerts in the last 10yrs - only regret: I would have seen them some more. This year I seen them twice and to my surprise, the crowd (including me) and Dave made each concert unique.
Good reaction!
That song from “Violator” (1990), and for that matter EVERY song on said album, is more than an absolute banger. Not to mention DM has so many other terrific tunes, such as “Never Let Me Down Again” and others.
You might also like the performances of this song from the MTV special they did in 1998, the 2010 concert film “Tour of the Universe” (probably the best version they did that featured a live drum solo), and especially 1993’s “Devotional,” the last one of which contains an incredible guitar solo and one of the sexiest hip-shaking routines I’ve ever seen being done by a male singer.
Kraftwerk is another electronic band I’d STRONGLY recommend checking out if you haven’t already done so.
They are from Basildon Essex, UK. If they are still playing. They are currently on tour, which ends next year. DM still has a lot to give to the world of music
You have to see NEVER LET ME DOWN AGAIN Live in Barcelona
Epic live
Depeche Mode Never Let Me Down Again Live Please 🙏🙏
Depeche Mode is a religious experience. They are prolific, and one the best of the British Invasion of their era. Up there with the Beatles, the Rolling Stone, Depeche Mode at one time moved the pillars of Heaven with their music.
I was there this evening and believe me ... being part of that crowd was breathtaking 🙏🏻❤️
Are they still around?! I just sobbed through their concert 2 months ago and 6 months before that. I've seen then 8 times, and it's always one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I really prefer One Night in Paris's live performance of Enjoy the Silence. That whole concert is perfection.
U gave them the recognition through deserve. In 1988 Depeche sold out the Rosebowl in So Cal...I was there. Listen to "Blasphemous Rumors" then listen to " Any Second Now", " Voices ". It gave me chills to watch there birth inside u as one being blessed with / from their music. I will always watch your work and I hope to here more...you made my night...I was so depressed and u got me out of the gutter!!! Your Amazingly honest
Enjoy the silence is not (!) in my personal Top Ten of DM Songs!!! It‘s the famous song of DM, but who’s DM- Fan have mostly an other favorite song … My absolute favorite Song is In your Room live devotional Tour 93! The highest peak in his career!!! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 😊
Hell yes. War so glücklich als die den Song in Düsseldorf gespielt haben
I can't fathom people not knowing anything about depeche mode, what's in your playlist?
80’s ruled…you just found another reason right here. These guys were special for sure.❤️🎶❤️
Their concerts are bomb. And more than just singing with the crowd is the watchin the crowd from above to see the sea of arms flowing with the songs. Awesome atmosphere. I´ve seen them at least twice at Prague.
*Day 81* of requesting a reaction to the following openings:
*Chivalry of a Failed Knight* op
*Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress* op
*Kiznaiver* op
You could make a multiple op reaction for this. Thank you!
I have been obsessed with them when I saw them in Melbourne , Australia almost 30 years ago & never forgotten them Live. I pray they come back again as they are Phenomenal. 🥰❤
The crowd had a beautiful harmony too they all sang in tune word for word.
Best live band ever. Dave can command a crowd like no one else.
Depeche Mode is simply....the best band in the world. Next shoud be Never let me down again-Live 101 version, which I think is the best among other great ones. :-)
Totally agree! Sadly the video of Never Let Me Down Again in 101 is a cropped version.
*Day 151* of recommending the *Beyblade openings* .
There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!
Other songs: Strangelove, People Are People, Everything Counts, and I Feel You.
Dave gahan's voice is legend, their stage presence is awesome, this song is an anthem... Any live from them is mind blowing
I had the chance to see them live, few years ago... best time ever!!!!
(my pref : Backwards, wrong, Halo, should be higher...
Over 100 million records sold is just one metric to say just how brilliant this band is. Dave Gahan is one of the best front men ever. BTW they are from Basildon in England.
Watch the live version of Never Let Me Down Again, you'll not be disappointed.
For example
As watching this video with you, I immediately thought about stage presence, and the very next moment you mention it yourself 😂
I was at their concert at Moscow, they are fantastic. Dave has some wild charisma, he can just stand still and it's already a performance.
I highly recommend you "Never let me down" from them.
Hi ya I've seen um about 20 plus times live totally epic awesome amazing band live I'll be goin to see um again 27th Jan 24 in London 02 arena UK 🎉🎉🎉 can't wait also you need to watch Duran Duran best band on planet earth 🌎🌍🌎 live 2011 Manchester UK from the dvd a diamond in the mind play planet earth it's on RUclips buddy enjoy oh and I've seen um 73 times live worth every penny 👌👍👌
From the 80's NEW WAVE category style music another awesome band is THE CURE
Depeche Mode are from Basildon Essex in the UK. Yes they are still around. They are in the tail end of a massive 4 leg world tour. Their latest album is one of their best albums. This concert is from their Delta Machine tour from the same album. The tour went from.2013-2014. Tapes in Berlin
They are from England, and they are THE LEGEND. Yes, to be in the crowd during their shows is the best time in life. Dave is incredible frontman. His energy on stage combined with Martin's songs - you can imagine :D.
Ok buddy glad ya enjoyed it wow wow wow wow era goes Simon lebon is the front man of Duran Duran ok another 2 epic fantastic bands I seen live inxs live at wembley stadium 1991 I think I've got that right Micheal hutchence front man wow wow wow wow he's totally awesome amazing epic brilliant singer and muse 🎉🎉🎉wow wow wow another fantastic front man mat Bellamy there last tour 🎉🎉🎉check um out on RUclips ok enjoy I wait your reviews 🎉🎉🎉 they will blow your head off lol ok cheers enjoy 🎉🎉🎉
I’m originally from Berlin and seen Depeche Mode live. You need to get the album ‘Violator’. They were my band when I was a teenager and they are still my favourite band today!
If you like crowd reaction watch queen at live aid Wembley and morrisey at old Trafford cricket ground singing everydays like Sunday
Great reaction Steph ! Depeche Mode has a huge 40 year catalogue full of incredible masterpieces. Maybe another song you could react to from them could be Never Let Me Down Again. ❤☺️
THANK YOU FOR APPRECIATING DM. ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN THE WORLD!!! WATCH THE LIVE CONCERT IN PASADENA 1988
The members of the band are from Basildon, they're still touring and making music more than 40 years after the band was created and this live performance is from the Delta Machine Tour, so 2014 if my memory serves me well
Depeche Mode's Violator album will be the number three all time greatest rock album, in my list, forever. it was the anthem of college.
Policy of Truth is the best song from that album.
You only just found them because you live in an air raid shelter from 1942.
My first ever self-bought album was "Construction Time Again" by Depeche Mode in 1984. And I am still proud of that.
Depeche Mode one of the greatest Bands ever!
Dave's energy on stage is unmatched, I've seen them in concert last year (they're in their sixties now), and it was fucking awesome
check out DM's Never Let Me Down again live in Paris... its the final song of the encore and to have that energy right to the end...incredible
Depeche Mode got me through some of the worst and the best times of my life. Their library is huge. They still tour. They are incredible live.
still here selling out stadiums as we speak....theyre from basildon
no heart?
the common thing between all the 1st time hearing songs on youtube is that young people discover real music and realise rap , hip hop etc are just shit compared to real music and singers
They are absolutely amazing 💜
I've seen them on this tour in Moscow in 2017 (iirc), and it was phenomenal. The positivity, the energy, was unmatched. They're brilliant on stage 🔥
The only other time I have heard something like that was with Queen-Live Aid.
Euro Synth pop was one of the best things in the 80s and Depeche Mode was one of the pioneers of the genre.
Camouflage - The great commandment, Listen to this
When you buy a ticket to a DM concert you kinda agree to make it an awesome time for them and yourself. It´s tradition and ritual, or like a pact with he band, handed down from the experienced fans there (it´s always a multi-generational event too) to those who haven´t gone to their concerts before, and it´s always a happy-making event, for me at least. They only tour like every 4 years (and who knows for how much longer) so there´s certainly appreciation and gratitude involved as well, and I for one am already looking forward to making the next concert I get to catch in February special again (for them and myself)
Just saw them in July at Milan Italy and they are just as awesome, especially for guys in their 60’s.
They are phenomenal live. I’ve wanted to be part of a stadium singalong with them since hearing the 101 album. Denver show was as animated as Berlin and they’re still dynamic. Your little brother has excellent taste.
Please keep reacting to Depeche Mode live perfomances
This isn't a concert... it's a religious experience
I miss the 80's and 90's, it was such a great time !
Basildon , Essex England UK , great band
Basildone London
Eighties outfit,still going strong
80s bands were given to us by the music gods
Just saw them for the 2nd time last month and they STILL brought down the house. Like, my god, they sounded like no time had passed from the 80s/90s. And Dave Gahan still has the moves. :D
I guess having been to many concerts of theirs one gets used to the crowd singing like that.Songs like Never Let me Down Again and Personal Jesus has other fan participation to them. Personally i find the whole drum solo thing on this and performances since to be garbage but thats me.Here in LA they do at least 4 days typically each tour and they can sell out each one easily everytime no matter how large the venue.
