Not even kidding... I was sitting here just now, in Texas, eating Pecan Cinnamon Roll Crunch popcorn from Buc-ee's when I got this notification. Edit to say that Buc-ee's is a massive gas station that everyone should go in if they see one. Best public bathrooms evers!
i went to tx last year and my cousins begged me to beg my dad to stop at buccees otw. definitely worth it❤️❤️

Love Buc-ee’s! I love their pickled stuff the most, lol, I know that may be weird. Their pickled asparagus and garlic stuffed olives are better than any I’ve had anywhere else.

For those who don’t know, Buccees is a Texas only chain of gas stations that are big and beautiful 🤩. If you’ve ever been to a Texas gas station then you know that a regular one doesn’t even compare! They have gas station goodies, bathrooms, a bakery and fast food like counter with food you can order from, clothes, home and kitchen accessories, camping equipment, their clothing brand, and more!! It’s essentially almost a grocery store. The experience is similar to target honestly. 🤣
A big thing too is that they make their own food, so they have buccees brand beef jerky (a big selection), snacks, fudge, a sandwich counter, sweets, etc
It’s basically a grocery store/clothing store/Knick nack shop/food court/gas station all in one.
Are they known for the sweets here or did the sender just hone in on these in particular? (is there more of a variety?)
LG Hakubi There are a TON of options. Savory and sweet. My favorite are the venison dried sausages 😋 🤤
They're like the Love's travel stops that are all over the place. No pun intended, I love those places. My favorite one is in Sparta, KY. Good BBQ joint in the same parking lot. So if I don't want fast food, I can get some bbq.

I love Asian seniors, they are so cute and really can light up your day, or at least my grandma does (Pure Japanese, no other heritage). I love them.
Y'all just made me so homesick!! I want all those snacks toooo. And yes, pecans are very popular in Texas and the pecan tree is the official state tree. You can go to parks and collect them for free, but only if you're fast enough!
You're not just competing with other people for the pecans. The birds, squirrels, raccoons, possums, and armadillos are after them too. I was never able to find any that didn't have a bite in them 😂

Ahhhhhh I had to stop and show everyone when y’all said buccees. There’s so many good snacks from buccees we could probably all send you some. My family stops at buccees for every road trip including every trip to our grandparents’ and our other grandparents had a pecan tree. I do wish you had gotten some more spicy snacks, even though I love pecans, you shouldn’t underestimate Texas heat. By the way, every time you said pecan in Korean it kept sounding like the Korean for Australia.

Yes Buc-ees is an experience on its own!! It’s pretty much a huge gas station with literally anything you could be looking for and is known for its very clean bathrooms😂 Love you guys✨

As a Korean living all over the US, I will say Bucc-ees is a revelation. The beef jerky there is second to none, and any time my parents are in Texas, they send me massive amounts of the sweet and spicy (my favorite), and the peppered for my husband (his favorite). I've also had their spicy, with the ghost pepper, and that stuff is what I would term as legit spicy. For anyone who travels through Texas for any reason, a trip to a Bucc-ees is DEFINTELY a must. It's weird to tell someone to go to a gas station to use their restrooms, but anyone who's had to use a public restroom will truly appreciate theirs. It's an experience worth having, and the road trip food there is worth going on a road trip for.

I've reconstituted it when camping and ate it with rice, it's actually quite good on the trails that way.

I'm German, but I have friends in Texas. Not going to lie, whenever I visit them I manage to gain 5-7kg (10-14lbs) in two weeks XD

Have you tried our German-Texas food? We have so many people with German ancestry here (including myself), we kind of mixed the cuisines. Curious if you've been to our Oktoberfest celebrations or restaurants making German food and what you think.
It’s like a gas station/ department store/ gift shop/ restaurant all in one with immaculately clean restrooms all in one. It’s a tourist attraction and a place we take every visitor from out of state to. They sell candles and candy. Clothes and shoes. They have a section for cold sandwiches or hot bbq. They are a one stop shop.
As a native Texan, this makes me sooooooo happy!

I live in China now and really miss home and while I'm a week late to this upload, this has cured some of my home sickness

Buc-ee's has a wall of different types of jerky and a fresh jerky counter, a bakery, bbq, hand made fudge, sandwiches, a million kinds of candy... its huge. Just walking in is overwhelming.

Hey Zoey! You've probably googled Buc-ee's by now but it's a famous gas station/convenience store/gift shop/truck stop chain (sometimes referred to as travel centers) all in one. And the locations are huge and have every snack you could ever think of. There are some fun videos about them on RUclips. They supposedly have the world records for the world's largest convenience store and world's largest car wash.

Buc-ee's is really a great road trip out stop. They have so many snacks, including things for specialty diets (gluten free, vegan, paleo, sugar free, low carb, etc). It was actually the only part of the family vacation I enjoyed.

I was planning on sending you a box full of goodies from New England. I wasn't sure exactly what to send that could be easily shipped. Any fellow New Englanders out there please send suggestions. (My ideas so far fluffernutter, Cracker Jack's, whoopie pies, maple candies, and tollhouse cookies. But the more the merrier.)
I was trying to figure out why reaction videos watching people eat food in one part of the world sent to them from another part of the world is so much fun.
And then I realize that food sharing is a very human behavior, and at the core of all human social groups. Sharing food like humans do, rather than fighting over it like some animals do, creates social cohesion, strengthens personal bonds, diminishes conflict and tension, and ensures the strength of the group by ensuring that everyone gets enough.
We don't even do that hierarchical thing where the dominant animal, the one on their home turf, gets first pick. Because universally in human hospitality you serve your guests first. And I point this out because we spend so much time dwelling on the negative aspects of human behavior that we don't notice all the positive. Thousands of years ago if there was a sick or wounded or otherwise vulnerable member of a group they got to eat first. In fact, we have evidence for this in a neanderthal skeleton that was so crippled, arthritic and toothless that the only possible way this person survived into their 40s was if other members of the group put them first, even to the extent of cutting up or even chewing their food for them.
So what started as the behavior of humans in small groups has completely and totally gone international and so some people in Korea can enjoy food shared from people in Texas and we can all have fun watching.
It's humans reaching across geography and cultures to say "this is what we like, here, try it".
