@Creations and circuits ,I just repaired five DVD players a few weeks ago. They weren't even that old,a few months each for a couple and like a year and a half for the rest. I had NO idea what I was doing and was about to just throw them all away. I keep buying them and they keep breaking almost as soon as I buy them and so I just buy another and I got sick of it so after remembering how my ex husband use to just take apart DVD players and VCRs all the time and fixing them without even knowing wtf he was doing ,I decided that I could probably do it too,so I did with all five of them. One of them just needed cleaned and the others,I just kinda moved the parts around a little ,going on instinct and I'll be damned, I fixed them ALL in less than three mins each. No lie. 😁

Even HD games can be used on HD-ready CRTs (which actually existed, surprisingly enough). I personally want to get a TV like that for my old Xbox 360 S.
@Socaran Ectien Interesting. I remember reading something about CRT monitors having a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 (basically the doubling of 1024x768, like how 2160p is the doubling of 1080p) at 85 Hz over VGA. Good info. I have a Sony Trinitron XBR 36 inch from about 1999 and I believe the CRT is getting weak. Sometimes anything in the backround that is white has a pinkish hue to it. Also anything blue, like the DirectTV guide, will turn green for a second then go back to blue. The TV is on probably 18 hours out of 24 and it's been running like that for a few years now.
Thank you for the tips. Now I know how to make my 1980's GE color TV last for a while. Also my schoolo uses CRT monitors in the control room for the auditorium.
If you guys adjust the picture settings that can help keep your tv from using extra energy. You need to make the clearest picture so your crt tv won't use too much electricity projecting images that are blurry and soft looking. If you give your crt the clearest picture, it will stay cool in temperature and it cwn reduce the electrcity bill. Giving it a clear picture also helps the tv use less light around its projection. That why you have to adjust the screen setting for the clearest High Definition HD picture.

I use a digital to analog converter for over the air television broadcast using the S video connection on the television, and connect up a DVD player with the component video connection. Unfortunately, eith the remote failed or the remote signal receiver on the television failed. That's not too much of an issue since the converter and DVD remotes allow many functions to be handled with remotes. Also, I'd like to connect up my laptop to display internet media, but I'm out of component connections, and the ones I have don't match up with the television. I COULD use an RF connection for the digital converter and look for an HDMI converter to S video or component television. I haven't gotten around to that, yet anyway. I still use my 2005 tv/dvd crt tv from Toshiba. I’m never gonna throw it out! Those kind of TVs have existed since the 1940s, and they’re still working like how it’s supposed to be! I’m planning to save enough money to get a flatscreen, and would put the Toshiba tv from my living room to my bedroom, and put the flatscreen there. But I do have one problem, my Toshiba tv is pretty heavy like all the other crts. And I’m pretty weak, so idk what to do if I were to get a flatscreen
I use a Sony PVM-14L4 monitor as my main TV! I have my original 60GB PS3 connected to it with component. I know the PS3 would probably look better on an LCD TV with HDMI but there's just something I love about CRTs and I don't know how to describe it. I also have my high-end VCR and LaserDisc player connected to it too with composite! And I even have a black & white CRT monitor facing in a different direction so I can see the picture from different parts of the room and that monitor is connected to the main monitor with composite. I have a PlayStation composite/component hybrid cable so that I can run the PS3 through the LaserDisc player, which runs through the VCR, which runs to the main monitor then finally to the black & white monitor. But I also have the component part of the cable running directly to the main monitor for better picture quality on the main monitor. The reason I have a composite/component hybrid cable is so that I can display the PS3 on the black & white monitor and be able to record it onto VHS as well as having good picture quality on the main monitor with component! And if you are wondering, yes I do play PS1 and PS2 games on my PS3 and that is what I mostly play, I hardly play PS3 games. The reason I've even got a PS3 is just because I love that machine and especially the original 60GB model, I'm not really interested in the PS3 games.
Anything 2D looks amazing over pure RGB/component, but IMO early 3D looks much too blocky/jaggy. I prefer most 3D PS1 games over composite. Actually it would be nice to see if s-video is a nice middle ground.

Hello. Anything about the impact of the heat over the phosphor/tube? I have a spare crt tv that i keep in a little room in the back of the house which is the hotter room during the day. The tv is always turned off cause it's just a spare for now but i wonder if i'm ruining anything on the tv just by keeping it there.
I think I can safely say... no. If you look up a channel called shango066 he has taken TV's that were in the desert for 30+ years and brought them back to life.
Just bought a 1994 27” sony trinitron tv for $150. I watched a few movies on it using my ole vcr. Never kept it on for more than 2 hrs. Well.. only after having it for one week the tv randomly shut off on me while watching Top Gun 😢 I tried turning it back on, unplugging and plugging it back in.. nothing. Looks like I’m gonna have to dissect the thing. It was lovely while it lasted 📺
They don't actually last forever unfortunately. I wish they did. I have one that has an old and now bad power supply and now wont even turn on anymore.
I just recently found crt tv at my fathers work place we plugged it in and it works i love how those tvs can survive almost everything and how long they last i have in plan to get Netflix and you tube and other things on it and have it in my room i love those tvs they look so good it is cool thing to have at home
My cousin just gave me his crt tv that has been sitting in a basement for years and the inside is caked with dust and cobwebs. is it worth risking damaging it and cleaning it out?
I have a 20" toshiba from the early 90's. I run my ps2 on. Have also ps1 and n64 to hook to it. Ive tried my gamecube (all 3 of them) on it and for some reason it has some wavy lines in it. Ive read where if the power brick for them is too close to any electronics it will cause this. I know the GameCube runs fine on the little 720p flat screen I have. Just wondering if this had anything to do with resolution out puts of the tv and GameCube? Still looking around for another flat screen crt. Had a rca truflat back in the early 2000's. Probably 02 to 03.
I just got my tube TV I just got my tube TV and it works fine and my vhs with VHS tapes to go with it I haven't used a tube TV since I was a kid it's good to get back😊
My parents bought a 27 inch Magnavox crt TV in 2001 and it was used for at least 12 hours a day every day until 2015 when it messed up. It got to where the picture would get really small in the middle of the TV and you'd have to hit it on top to get the picture to use the full screen again. Eventually it got worse and worse until there was no picture anymore.
Nice video. I opened up my 2005 toshiba 24af45 tv and cleaned it out had alot of dust in it. Then adjusted brightness and foucse control. I then adjust convergnace, which is still not perfect yellows have a green tint to them. Then my friend adjust the geometry in the service menu. He better at it the me. I showed him what service menu controls the sreen shape. He made it about %90 or more perfect square.
Cleaning out the TV was something I considered mentioning in the video, but I figure most people won't be up for that, haha. Keep 'em going! I have another TV that's similar to that one you have, it's a 2007 model, but it was made 2 months before they started requiring a built- in digital tuner (yep, that was a thing in a few CRT TV's, they're pretty hard to come by nowadays), huge bummer. Anyway, thanks for watching!
DOOMISFORU GAMING Man adjusting the geometry is really hard, I had a Sony KV27FV300 and never managed to get the top part right. According to some video I would have need to open up the TV while it is live and adjust some screws inside or put some magnet on the tube ..
Saya jiin Yes it risky, I shocked my self when I was cleaning it. It felt more like a sting then shock. I tuched the back of the tube by mistake. also, the rings are flimsy plastic, so one broke where u hold it making it harder to adjust.
I have a big 90s Panasonic quintrix TV and each time I start it UK p it makes a weird sound and it gets worst every month! I am scared that it might burn and I really love that TV to death so Is there anything I can do about it???
To ensure that CRTs will continue to exist for many years to come, I really want to produce a new line of CRT monitors intended for retro gaming! If anyone has got at least some resources to get new CRTs made, I’d like to hear from you!
I like crts they are great for old tvs and video records because most new tvs don´t support scart so you have to use adapters to hook them up to new tvs that why use crt tvs to hook up my old game consoles and video recorders
Hello, I recently found a small Apex crt tv model AT1302. It powers on but I the screen is blue, I get no other picture or sounds, any help would be greatly appreciated.
To be clear.....the way to maximize the life, or keep running forever......is to turn up the brightness? This is great. I thought there was gonna be cleaning, and like soldering or some crap. But just crank up the brightness!! :P
Actually no, the lower brightness and contrast the, the longer tube will work. If your tv in good condition then try to set it in 30%-40%. If picture become dimmer, then slightly turn up both these parameters. And so on, every time it become noticeably dimmer, you should just slightly turn up these parameters. For example you had brigthness and contrast at 35% you then change it to 40%.
Just got my sony GVM-2020 in mail, I have only used S-Video for my N64 on it and it is a as clear as my Toshiba 24af45 Component input. Have not used RGB yet waiting for bnc cables. But the color a clearness are asome
I have an early 2000s tube TV but I don't use it. I play all my retro games on modern displays and all in component video. I only keep the CRT around in case I ever get any light gun games because those old light guns won't work on a modern TV.
Joey Roller There's no way I'm paying that much for an upscaler. I tried using a cheaper one but neither of my TVs would take the RGB signal. Closest I've come was HD Retrovision's Genesis YPbPr cable with two adapters: One for my Genesis/32X combo (it's a Model 1 unit) and another for the Saturn. My Xbox, Wii, and PS2 are all hooked up through component. YPbPr isn't the same as true RGB but the quality is about the same. FULL DISCLOSURE: I do not work for HD Retrovision. I bought their Genesis component cable the day of launch, with my own money. Ditto the Saturn adapter as soon as I got a Saturn.
Their is just something about them and the way how long they last is amazing and i think the tubes would last more longer than the solid state electronics in them and what I think makes them special is for how long they last they could be used in long space interstellar travel like that on the nostromo in alien in the amazing retro/cassette futurism look.
I’m watching this video on a I Orion CRT TV And the other CRTs I had blown the yolk which stopped it from working hopefully this new TV doesn’t break like the other ones
Trying to save a gateway crt I found outside. Picture is really good, no burn in, but it's dim and it sounds like somthing is asking inside. I ran it for a bit and the asking stopped by the image is still dim. Not unusable just dim.
I love crts the picture is great on them and they are the best when it comes to old school gaming, I collect the 19" crts because I have arcade machines that have 19" in them so when ever I see a 19" tv with the conventional tube in I snap it up take the tube out and put an arcade monitor chassis on it and make it into a proper arcade monitor www.flickr.com/photos/sega64bit/50959515141/in/dateposted-public/ I have a few in my possession now as back ups, also have some other tvs around the house I use for day to day viewing, my favourite is the little 14" Sony trinitron tv made in 1989 in and now in the daughters bedroom it's pretty much been on night and day since new Ive always kept the contrast down low to preserve tube but even now It has a very sharp picture and looks great.
I added one last year, other than that no changes. The 32" Sylvania that was my family's main TV set finally died a while back and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. We still have it though so maybe someday if I have more time and more knowledge of this stuff something can be done with it.
Many of them for the taking are all burnt out >.< Just like what we did with our new ones.. never turn off but just an hour runtime @ a time is wonderful but pushing 6-24 hours dealing damage
I don't think he was being literal.....I find CRT's from the 80's and 70's and usually they still work. that's not bad for a 30+ year old piece of electronics.
yes i have 3 vintage tvs that i got and had to do NOTHING to they just worked. a 1973 zenith, a 1978 zenith, and a 1980 general electric althouh the ge has a semi weak crt still great preformer.
50's and 60's sets electronics ran on vacuum tubes, they needed repair and adjustment often. That's why there were mobile tv repairman back then. Newer sets only had one tube, the picture tube and are much more reliable.
This is true unless you have a portable one some people bye one and never use it I have a Sony micro tv and it’s very bright and I have a magnavox it very bright my Samsung is very bright too
Cathode ray tubes will not last for ever especially modern tri colour tubes. Early monochrome tubes can have an extended life only because the cathode emission coating and the display phosphors where applied much thicker in the past because manufacturers did not know any better, but modern tubes the manufactures made sure that the coatings and the screen phosphors last a shorter length of time, nothing quite like built in obsolescence to improve the profit margin. Next the vacuum slowly dissipates because it is not a perfect seal between the gun connection pins of which there are more of traveling through the glass of the tube neck and the final anode connection on the tube bowl is also not perfect. Just think nothing will last for ever not even this planet we all live on!!
Iv developed an interest in crts lately and thats why i happened by this video....adjust the picture controls....why ty captain obvious what a waste of time im putting ur channel on not interested smh
I turned the voltage up quite a bit. The CRT is dead. It bleeds colors badly. I haven’t turned it on in years. I have a modded ps3 slim with some ps1 ps2 and ps3 games installed. Once I get this old CRT I got for $5 cleaned up I'll be hooking it up through AV and playing through the original silent hill games again.
Sure, if you have some kind of feather duster type thing and/or compressed air
I have a 20" toshiba from the early 90's. I run my ps2 on. Have also ps1 and n64 to hook to it. Ive tried my gamecube (all 3 of them) on it and for some reason it has some wavy lines in it. Ive read where if the power brick for them is too close to any electronics it will cause this. I know the GameCube runs fine on the little 720p flat screen I have. Just wondering if this had anything to do with resolution out puts of the tv and GameCube? Still looking around for another flat screen crt. Had a rca truflat back in the early 2000's. Probably 02 to 03.
I just got my tube TV I just got my tube TV and it works fine and my vhs with VHS tapes to go with it I haven't used a tube TV since I was a kid it's good to get back😊
Dangit, Boomhauer, get off da dang ennernet and quit wastin people’s time, gat dangit
Thanks Bill Clinton!
I would buy one
@@hdbidhdib9471 so did you get one?
I like crts they are great for old tvs and video records because most new tvs don´t support scart so you have to use adapters to hook them up to new tvs that why use crt tvs to hook up my old game consoles and video recorders
Hello, I recently found a small Apex crt tv model AT1302. It powers on but I the screen is blue, I get no other picture or sounds, any help would be greatly appreciated.
How many inches are those, and do they still work?
But the color a clearness are asome
ohh yeah, those are very nice! Kind of hard to find though.
For an affordable price anyway
TheCRTProductions It was about 650 with shipping, it was new. never used, It does 480p also
Yeah, I saw that when I looked it up, very cool!
I have an early 2000s tube TV but I don't use it. I play all my retro games on modern displays and all in component video. I only keep the CRT around in case I ever get any light gun games because those old light guns won't work on a modern TV.
AirCooledMan2006 have you ever tried using an XRGB-Mini Framemeister? Despite the cost, it’s a very great upscaler for retro consoles.
I have yet to even find one...
Would you say that purely analog CRT's generally had a more natural picture than later more digitised models?
If it is a lcd or led panel, then yes, it has more natural picture. Ips and oled have better colors.
Their is just something about them and the way how long they last is amazing and i think the tubes would last more longer than the solid state electronics in them and what I think makes them special is for how long they last they could be used in long space interstellar travel like that on the nostromo in alien in the amazing retro/cassette futurism look.
The video coming out of those tvs look sharp
very interesting and helpful video!
please make more videos on crts!
yeah alright
I’m watching this video on a I Orion CRT TV And the other CRTs I had blown the yolk which stopped it from working hopefully this new TV doesn’t break like the other ones
i have a brand new flat screen TV with a Roku in it, i don't use that TV to watch TV, i still use a CRT to do that
Picture is a bit dim...
Brightness controls 🤣
I used CRTs as a lamp by watching movies with repeats.
Trying to save a gateway crt I found outside. Picture is really good, no burn in, but it's dim and it sounds like somthing is asking inside. I ran it for a bit and the asking stopped by the image is still dim. Not unusable just dim.
I have a RCA TruFlat crt TV from 2004, it has a calendar and a notepad built in.
Woah
@@defconzero I think it was the best TV of 2004
This guy has advanced to level 2 of life
I love crts the picture is great on them and they are the best when it comes to old school gaming, I collect the 19" crts because I have arcade machines that have 19" in them so when ever I see a 19" tv with the conventional tube in I snap it up take the tube out and put an arcade monitor chassis on it and make it into a proper arcade monitor www.flickr.com/photos/sega64bit/50959515141/in/dateposted-public/
I have a few in my possession now as back ups, also have some other tvs around the house I use for day to day viewing, my favourite is the little 14" Sony trinitron tv made in 1989 in and now in the daughters bedroom it's pretty much been on night and day since new Ive always kept the contrast down low to preserve tube but even now It has a very sharp picture and looks great.
How scratched/scuffed are your crt tv's?
Great Video Pal!
Thanks!
Great video pal but in the US we had to settle for NTSC
i have one of the sony wega widescreen hd crt tvs with a digital tuner.
Awesome! I've never seen one of those but I imagine they look great.
yep better than a flatscreen ever would
How to take almost 8 minutes to say "adjust your brightness".
the video was still interesting so i’m not complaining.
How did you connect the two together. Please help
I connected one to RCA out and one to coax out on a converter box
As of today, what CRTs do you have left in your television collection?
I added one last year, other than that no changes. The 32" Sylvania that was my family's main TV set finally died a while back and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. We still have it though so maybe someday if I have more time and more knowledge of this stuff something can be done with it.
Many of them for the taking are all burnt out >.< Just like what we did with our new ones.. never turn off but just an hour runtime @ a time is wonderful but pushing 6-24 hours dealing damage
my grandma has that same grey crt but the av ports dont work
My grandfather got a new tv bc his was a prejection tv and the bulb was expensive and if yours tv is very bright turn it all the way down
i used Sony Trinitron TruSurround for my PS2
thanks for sharing
Yeah those settings can only do so much.
6:49 FBI OPEN UP
Actually the 1980s CRT TV probably just needs to be recapped ( give it new compositors) that was probably what is causing the dim picture.
NotthatDisgusted he said that he fixed the dim problem 😂 by using the control dials for brightness
The CRT is really weak. I could probably rejuvenate it if I had a CRT tester.
and what exactly is a compositor?
Just trying to be fast, I haven't watched the whole video how old is the CRT's?
They haven't lasted forever yet so the title is incorrect
The one on the left is 31 years old and the one on the right is 11 years old
Not to sound rude but CRT TVs can't last forever cause when I find sets from the 50's or 60's, they need repair.
sry :(
No need to say so.
This is true unless you have a portable one some people bye one and never use it I have a Sony micro tv and it’s very bright and I have a magnavox it very bright my Samsung is very bright too
Su crt tv lerin tuplerinin uretim asa masini gostere bilir misiniz
¡No input lag!
How can I make the high pitched noise louder on my 32 inch CRT TV?
Put a high-powered magnet in front of the screen
Are you serious? Won't that mess up the picture?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hello?
@@nikey9345 If you really feel entitled to an answer, ask 12voltvids
TheCRTProductions how many crt tvs do you have?
What does that mean? A. These CRT TVs will actually last FOREVER. B. they will last just for a very long time.
B
TheCRTProductions - Why don't it mean they will actually stay running forever for?
Eventually the tube will burn up. But I suppose if you are handy at electronics you could fix it yourself. You'd probably need a tube rejuvenation kit.
we will all be dead but there will still be toyota cars and sony trinitron
Clockwise or counterclockwise???
Is this some sort of stupid meme? I've gotten more comments like this in the last month or two than I can handle
well..............How?????
one of my old crts burned up a while ago :( (monitor)
Published 1 day before everything from old ROBLOX was updated.

lol.... not during the video
@@TheCRTProductions what's your problem?
I turned the voltage up quite a bit. The CRT is dead. It bleeds colors badly. I haven’t turned it on in years. There are a collection of CRT TVs at my local goodwill that have been sitting on their shelf for months. They just aren’t interesting anymore to me. I did the thing you suggested years ago. That’s all
Wow, those CRT make a skreeching sound that's Tha thing I don't like about them.
Was expecting repair advice. Am disappoint.
