I feel that Seventeen is well-known but underrated at the same time, as their songs are not as widely recognized as those of other HYBE groups. When I ask someone about Seventeen, they always say yes, but they are more familiar with the group's popularity rather than their great music. I feel like they deserve more recognition in the K-pop industry for their music.

You know what is one of the most things I love that group?
There is not a single song that Seventeen does not like because they cannot possibly. They're so proud of Woozi and so happy to make their own music.
They always discuss if the song is what they want, ALL 13 MEMBERS. Just imagine, 13 different people, 13 different tastes and styles, all of them agree and there is not a single sentence in their production process such as “Let's just do it even if you don't like or feel it, it's just one song c'mon”.
No, in Seventeen every member should agree with every single song bcs they care about all the songs and want it sound like Seventeen.
They want to provide the song that can be enjoyable for carats and for themselves.
And even if the song sounds childish they still love that song as every other songs.
I noticed that many groups are embarrassed or don’t like to perform some of the “cute, refreshing” songs, bcs they are all grown now. But Seventeen have special segment in their tour concerts to perform such song, they always make sure to include fun and cute songs such as Oh my, Mymy, Aju nice, Adore u, Pretty u and many more. They still love these songs bcs they are not just songs for them, but part of their life when they worked on these songs. They are proud to make their own music and all songs they have done are like sons for them.
    The best group in kpop.💗

the last sentence! hands down one of the greatest groups in kpop. i feel so lucky i got to see them in one of their stops for their current concert and their pride for their own music and performances is so apparent and it was such a great time watching them. ive never seen a group be so happy to perform and be idols. i love them!

    • @Smili_ing
      @Smili_ing 9 часов назад +6

Yeah, I don't know where I saw it but I still remember that every member of seventeen have to agree to all of the songs. Every member have to give their feedback for every song. And at that time I thought, so that's why there is not even a single song that I don't like

I always say that i need woozi's brain to be studied, because of how amazing he is, i don't how he does it, for so many years always finding a way to up themselves from they're last comeback it's crazy. And to think he's someone who likes staying inside, okay, fine, i do too, but still
Overall, i really admire woozi. I really want to be as creative as him

As someone who has been following Kpop for over a decade now, they’re literally the only group I still stan. I’m so glad that their rising global popularity hasn’t exactly altered their “kpop”-iness (which has happened a lot for other groups and made me lose interest…). Additionally SVT’s concerts are the only ones that feel like home to me cuz of how amazingly natural they are in being able to interact and hype up Carats. Not only that, it’s so inspiring how all 13 members genuinely care and support each other 🥺 hope they continue to stay together for many more years to come. Forever a Carat 💎💗

what i love abt seventeen aside from their creativity is their passion and enthusiastic love abt making art that they’re proud of. aside from gose and their variety content, one of my favorite svt content are the behind the scenes of their production. i love love love watching them form ideas, bounce those ideas off each other, and the enthusiasm they share when doing it. heck even in nana tour we get a glimpse of how music and making music is really ingrained with them no matter what what with the improv singing while they’re drunk, random guitar jamming sessions, and the creation of the nana tour opening. i often say stanning seventeen isnt enough, i need to be let into their studio and get a close look at how they do things while creating their music because they’re just that good and so interesting and their passion and love for the art of music is so contagious. got to see them in their current world tour and the performances are superb too and the arrangement of their music with their live band was nuts. they’re amazing performers. stanning svt was one of the best decisions i made in my life they reminded me of how much i love listening to music. im so proud to say im a carat bc of them :)

but i love the direction u took this video in
i agree that funkiness is one of svts top qualities in their music
i love the praise you showered on woozi
i love how u complimented how all the rappers are integrated so well in their songs and their parts dont sound out of place unlike in other kpop songs
i love that you comlimented the vocal teams harmonies!!
and what hasnt already been said about svts performances

THANK YOUUUU 😭❤️ You covered everything I love about SEVENTEEN!!
    • They’re a self-produced group.
    • WOOZI’s genius obsession with delayed drops and his unique musical style.
    • Their discography feels like an emotional journey.
    • Each member has individual skills that elevate their performances.
    • They’re an evenly structured group, with each unit (Vocal, Hip-hop, Performance) perfectly coordinating their roles.
    • All 13 members could debut as successful solo artists! they can sing, rap, and dance!
    • Their choreography is always fresh, detailed, and clean! never repetitive.
    • They’re hilarious and genuinely good people.
They’re the only artists I stan and support because they are simply PERFECT 💖💎

I've been a carat for only 4 years but something i noticed about svt's popularity is that, yes, they're really big now but they just don't have enough hype to support that popularity. what i noticed too is that their fame did not came from one viral song. although we know they've made some of the greatest hits in their entire career but they went up in the industry from bottom to top slowly, steadily but definitely sure. They are that group that I'm sure has a loyal fanbase already and i can really see them last much longer in the industry. but given how competitive the industry is, they must remain present and visible. i salute woozi (and bumzu) for being so hard working in creating music. i mean, we're so well fed honestly, every year we get 1-2 comebacks excluding the Japanese ones. svt has always been doing their part and the fandom can only do so much. I'm just saying, when it comes to popularity, virality of every artists' releases is something we cannot predict or control of but it has always been something i wish for svt. i wont sugarcoat it anymore if i say i want svt to achieve SOTY, top the billboard, had their song being played to everywhere and people dancing along with it. I want all those for svt. I want them RECOGNITION more than they get now. and I'm so sure svt wants that too. 10 years in the industry but they've made clearly how much more they wanna achieve. and I hope they really do. as of now the fandom can only do so much, svt will always pour everything to their craft and the rest is up to well, i guess luck. and the general public's taste lol.

Omgg this happened to me too, I used to listen to their songs and even remembered the lyrics even when I don't really listen to them, never even added them to my playlist but the song was just played randomly and it stuck in my head. It was when I finally committed to become a carat that I realized that all those fantastic songs are from svt. Actually I do know them from their debut days but I only know mansae and aju nice back then, never thought that don't wanna cry, thanks, left & right, homerun, baksu, beautiful, pretty u, home, happy ending, hit and many more are from them. Their music for me is quite well known in my country cause at that time I've left my kpop fangirling era for about 5 years by listening to more jpop but still manage to listen to them
      ps: I'm from Malaysia btw😊

Thank you so much for making such a well-researched video for SEVENTEEN. As a carat myself I feel their music is still super underrated in k-pop. SVT has a zero skip discography and Woozi has only perfected his musicality genius and artistry with every comeback! The variety in their discography is insaneeee! I would urge more people to listen to their B-Sides! Shoutout to Vernon who participates in production too and adds elements of Hyperpop in their production!

I just got into Seventeen in October 2024 and since then, I've seen alot of content about them but it's usually reaction videos. After seeing folks make video essays about groups like BTS, I thought it would be nice if people did that for Seventeen because I think they do deserve it.
While they are popular and successful, I don't think people always give them the credit or acknowledgement they deserve (which honestly *kinda* works for the group because it makes their wins and praise feel even more earned and authentic)
Anyhoo, I'm glad you made you made a video on them and I'm glad I found it.

  • @yorodied
    @yorodied 10 часов назад +6

I will say this until the day I quite literally DIE.
Seventeen WOULD NOT BE Seventeen without all thirteen members
This is because each member has done something for the group, whether that be producing music (Woozi, S.coups and Vernon), creating choreography (Hoshi, Dino, Jun and The8), becoming a variety superstar and going on multiple different variety shows to promote Seventeen in their early stages (Seungkwan), providing ethereal visuals that get people hooked into wanting to know who they are ( Jeonghan, Joshua, Wonwoo and Mingyu), or just being a pure body of sunshine that helps every member push through darker times and provide support, smiles, and laughter to the fans and group (Dokyeom). Every member did something for Seventeen to help them achieve the status and fame they have today.
Many people know Seventeen as that one group who are strong performers and funny entertainers, as Seventeen has this unique feeling (as u stated towards the end) where they are 13 talented boys who love their job and work hard all while still having FUN. They are fully self-produced as they joined Pledis in 2015 (Pledis was quite broke at the time as they only joined Hybe in 2020) and were put with complete strangers who all wanted to debut. Now I could get in the specifics of how their pre-debut life was like, but I won’t because then this would quite literally turn into an essay. All you really need to know is that their debut music video (Adore U) was only made possible because one of the staff members sold their house to have enough money, as well as Vernon’s editing skills and Wonwoo’s laptop gifted by his father. That is how the now famous group, seventeen, started out with.
Sure everyone knows who Seventeen is if they listen to k-pop, but it still feels like they are put in the shadows, but what I like to say, “so what?”. Sure, it would be amazing to see them get more popular and have the true level of fame they deserve, but its also nice to be apart of the fandom, Carats, who will do everything and anything to protect the somewhat hidden gem. Whether that be shutting down false articles that state malicious comments about Seventeen or just correcting posts on social media who made comments about Seventeen. Many fandoms of bigger groups like Seventeen (Blackpink, BTS, Stray Kids, etc.) have harsher fan bases who fight with other groups and make their own group look bad, (No hate to any of the groups they make great music and are amazing idol). Carats are kinda known for being that chill fandom, who work hard to protect Seventeen, but don’t start fights with other fandoms that could potentially harm Seventeen. Seventeen is made this famous because of their hard work, but have stayed protected and don’t have many controversies because of their fandom.
All around Seventeen has surrounded themselves with great people and a great fandom who look up to them. Many new idols also look up to Seventeen and it becomes no surprise that they have become as known as they are. They are a group of 13 men who have grown together in talent, relationship, and mentality and will stay with each other until the end. Its not always only about the music, its also sometimes about how close the group and members are to each other that brings the fame and have fans stay. Theres a lot more I could say about Seventeen, but I think its best I end it here.
With Seventeen now starting military enlistment its going to feel different, but we have to stay patient until 2030/31 when they are all back. With that being said, I hope you enjoy my yap fest about Seventeen and I’m genuinely so proud of all 13 of them.
    (P.S. amazing video Josh!!!)

I'm army and carat, but I'd venture to say that Seventeen is better than BTS when it comes to the development and demonstration of individual or group skills. For example, although Mingyu, Wonwoo, Scoups and Vernon are responsible for the group's rapping, they still manage to do incredible vocals like Wonwoo in his song ‘Leftover’. They don't limit themselves to just one role, which I don't see in Namjoon, Jhope and Yoongi.

    • @yuyuhao
      @yuyuhao 9 часов назад

@@hanna8844 as an army and carat I disagree slightly, what you said about the hip-hop unit is true they don't limit themselves to just rap and have some amazing vocals and dance however the rapline in bts is not limited to one role either, all three are producers and composers and have been experimenting with vocals in their solo work.

I agree but you also need to note Stray Kids, they write and produce about 98-99% of all their music and have even choreographed some of their dances.

Seventeen is my youth. I’m the same as Seungkwan and Vernon, so we went through similar stages of life during the same time (with the rest of act as well). Being comforted by their songs through uncertainty of growing up meant a lot. Forever grateful.
The thing I admire the most is that they’re all still together. 10 years, 13 members, different backgrounds and personalities… Their bond is so strong .
I know they’re popular and getting a lot of recognition nowadays but.. they deserved this years ago. I just hope the industry is kind to them from now on.

seventeen is a strange oxymoron-- almost anyone and everyone who knows anything about kpop knows who they are, but the vast majority dont know much ABOUT them, much less that theyre one of the standout self producing groups. many people forget that in their early years they stood shoulder to shoulder with BTS, and had almost the same origin story-- a self produced group that fought against the odds and saved their conpany from bankruptcy singlehandedly. they're well known but underappreciated, and i hope more people recognise them in the future, maybe even because of this video

Normally when a group starts experimenting with different sounds and concepts they lose a bunch of fans because it's kind of an uncanny valley feeling but for music. Seventeen never really had that problem since Woozi and Bumzu have always been there, even if it's a different genre it still sounds like Seventeen.

So glad I found this video. I'm so proud of the success of Seventeen so far and as a 'newer' fan (I started listening to them at the start of 2023) I feel as though they have kind of been on an uphill projection the last few years. Not that they weren't popular or successful before but as someone newer, it feels as though they are finally getting their flowers and recognition for how hard they work on not only their talents for performing but also their dedication to putting out content for carats. I'm so lucky I became a fan.

leaving a like & comment for my boys. so fond of them. a video discussing svt's music? say less. love when someone can elaborate rly well abt what makes svt so impressive, esp when it comes to dissecting parts of their music bcs I feel like I rarely see ppl rly dig into it(?). love the editing btw!
they've always been so consistent & although I can't always keep up with wtv they're up to rn bcs of irl business, I know that I can trust in woozi & svt to always be a comforting presence through their music & message. I also love that--if that man's not in the credits for producing like 99% of their discography, then he'll likely be credited for writing the song at the v least. feels v heartfelt & honest yk? I think that's what they do best. being their most vulnerable, down to earth, authentic self & connecting with ppl

the video ended so abruptly.. please do more of them since there's a lot to choose from, really wished for the video to be longer. and maybe other self-produced groups too, i like the way you can see a bit more with them since they can show a bit more of the process? love exploring the production side of the releases by myself, so it's always nice to see a video from you, nicely done!

It’s always been them for me, always and forever. Thank you for recognizing their incredible musical talent above all else, and really giving our Woozi (and Bumzu, of course) the credit he deserves. Even if he won’t give it to himself (he even apologized for last mini album 😢)
I do listen to a lot of kpop, but very casually, but I could never be casual about them. They’re really my heart.
They can’t make a bad song because they are the ones making it.
