My take on this as a korean is because Kpop is a business and as a music business you need to understand the music trends to maximize profit. "Wow my favorite idol also fws Ken Carson? She's literally me fr!" No bro she's a figurehead for the companies to milk money off of you within a parasocial relationship. I think there's tons of interesting korean artists like Mid Air Thief, Yaeji, Busker Busker, Beenzino, etc. But big Kpop groups are usually just pawns to a business. That's why the idols are so restricted too. When you are an idol, you are a product for the company. That's my theory at least.

i think we reached a point in general in music where genres, artists etc... intertwine so much from everywhere in the world that we're slowly starting to break language/cultural barriers so it's very cool to see that. Especially Rap being as big as it is today it declined into many sub-genres, i can hear the hip-hop influence in so many pop songs or artists from widely different genres these days all across the world. Through the beats, the rapping sometimes, the aesthetic, fashion etc...

I can't wait for K-Pop to be original and stop going from genres to genres without even giving proper credits or where the genres come from. It really make them look like brats who are given a song that is meant to be viral, and we can't see their artistry. Especially since those songs aren't meant for them, they use a lot of techniques to make people think they really know how sing when they don't in this genre and also copy every single song to make a new one so people won't catch them copying. 1st Gen was obsessed with Western/Afro American Groups such as NSYNC, B2K, BACKSTREETBOYS, TLC, Destiny child and even got lawsuits for "inspiration" that turned out plagiarism with a lot of cultural appropriation. The second gen was copying the J-Pop industry and the Y2K like Britney Spears and Disney Channel. 3rd Gen was copying RNB artists like Tinashe and got away with it and also tried to be Latinos. Now, 4th Gen either want to make Amapiano or Afro mixing both or jump on tiktok music with Hyperpop, Pluggnb, Uk Garage, DNB, and House... like- I mean those are genres of music, and everyone can make music, but they don't give proper credits, pass as those who created it, and most of them are racist and materialistic.

I don't stay on these videos for long, they don't hook me, I don't need to listen to a copy when there are original talents like the Pink Panther.
The original message of K-pop was high-level vocals with incredible charisma on stage. Now all I see is beats and a clear lack of personality. You say that the New Pants are geniuses, but they are just hype, a real success for many years in the talent and versatility of the performer.

Not sure if this has already been commented, but on the topic of hyperpop, Jungkook's song 3D also has an official remix by the hyperpop artist A. G. Cook! Also one of the absolute legends of hyperpop, Sophie (rest in peace😔) produced 24HRS for Itzy! Tbf it's less of a connection to the hyperpop rap scene and more to the side of hyperpop from places like the PC Music record label but still a fun fact❤

asians have a thing for having the most vague genres of music while at the same time making the most diverse mix of sounds haha its amazing.
its insane to me how kpop has so much going in it but it gets all reduced to a single name, its like vocaloid where everything can range from the most simple lightheaded pop song to the most experimental track youve ever heard in your life its soo cool.

Bro hearing outta town and starboys tag dead ass made me laugh cause I’ve only ever heard them in rap. It kinda reminds me of bnyx because I’ve heard his tag on songs from pinkpantheress and even on Afrobeats 😂😭

this is a prime example of either camp reacting negatively to the other while excluding the vocals which are admittedly a huge factor, they're listening to the same tracks.

Supernova sounding that way is not a surprise as it was produced by Dem Jointz, who is Dre and Eminem's producer.
