After having so much fun with Puppets, I decided to do this one from Ride the Lightning and do whatever I wanted. Lars' performance and sound on that album is horrible, so I play it like he did on Live Shit: Binge & Purge - Seattle 1989 ...plus add a few liberties here n there. Hope you like it!

The double bass in the guitar solo pleases me, not many people seem to realise it's there and I love it when Lars plays it as it adds more energy to the song!
I'm actually pretty sure it's guitar not bass because when I play the song it's on guitar, but anyways yea it sounds great with the solo!

Finally this version! It's like the one in Seattle 89 where Lars starts the double bass a bit before but it sounds so good!
He also did it in 2001 during Jason's last performance.

Fade To Black is probably one of my all time favorite Metallica songs. And to see such a phenomenal performance and cover like this is so freaking amazing! Keep doing what you do man!

+sava cristian It's way better on the drums too in my opinion specially, if you got it by muscle memory then you can almost do it in your sleep .. even take power naps during play tour ..
also, drumming will help with timing in the guitar. very important.

This is my favorite cover of this song anywhere i can find on youtube. What i love about Josh's videos, aside from his playing, that you can hear the kick drum. Every other cover i have seen of this on youtube, you cant hear the kick drum and thats a major part at the end.

You added enough fills and it isn't the simple groove we heard on the album BUT, all of your fills blend so well with the song, it's definitely a pleasure to hear your playing, Lars adds enough fills but, they are hit or miss, however, your fills are spot on and definetely, the ending was superb, as the rest of your cover, your playing has a flow and it is really great to hear it. Congratulations, keep up the good work and of course, i want to mention that your sound kicks ass, well done

Its for heavier snare attack, some drummers do that with both of their sticks.

I think, I'm really getting close to this stage of my life.. But I 'm not self medicating yet due to the fact, that I have something real worth holding on too and really dreaming about in my life still while no one can criticize me, for it .. And it keeps me, preoccupied the fact that I have all the options at my disposal so maybe it saves me, frequent trips to all the closes liq in my town.. thanks for the cover mate! well done..

I played drums my entire life, and Lars genius is one of a kind.
The guy can barwly play his instrument, yet he wrote and produce some of the most perfect drum tracks of all time.

I will admit, I studied percussion to university master degrees, i can play easily all of Lars songs, in live probably better than him, but no where close in the world I can write those tracks
