  • Because of the dew, the wheat was pretty tough this morning. Most of us waited while Dennis made the first pass.
Having the 3-day raincation made me appreciate my time in the combine all over again. The time will go way too fast now.
And then my combine broke. It could cut wheat and do what it’s supposed to do but when it maxed out at 3 mph. I didn’t do much of anything all afternoon - except…
    Flew my drone
    Rode with Jessie
    Watched the crew work
    Rode with Jim
So, you get more field action coverage today over others when I’m in the combine.
The combine is still sitting on the edge of the field - for now.
Kudos to Katie (Bret’s sister) for helping with the awesome drone shots. And, to Bret for his pictures!

Tracy, trust me, there is nothing wrong with you! I loved being in a tractor cab for at least 10 straight hours a day, plowing back in the day. It was so peaceful being alone & enjoying God's magnificent creation. It was a good time to commune with the Lord. Again, you posted such stunning drone views of the wheat harvesting. Amazing! Looks like they feed you good! Thank you & stay safe! Love from Texas.❤

There are some things in life that can’t be explained. One of them is your contentment being behind the wheel cutting wheat. If you know you understand. If you don’t it can’t be explained to others. I get the same way driving my semi truck. My wife’s father warned her prior to our marriage that “you can take Bruce out of the truck but you’ll never take the truck out of Bruce”.

I am still in awe at how many acres these people farm!!! It seems to go on and on for miles and miles. At least you got to experience what the cart people do. I am impressed at how they know just how far away from the combine to get and how fast to drive. Glad you had her explain that. That was a pretty fancy supper for the field!!! Ours weren't quit as extravagant but we sure thought they were good, and it helped that we were usually hungry!!! But as a kid driving the tractor plowing I usually kept snacks and pop to eat on throughout the day. As always beautiful drone footage thanks to Katie and pics from Bret. Can't wait until tomorrow !!!!

Great video! What a nice idea to film the combine from the tractor. You're right Tracy; it's great to harvest in the combine. Anyway, I think it's super fun to do. It is actually my wish to be able to ride in such a combine someday. That must be a great experience. I myself am a chemistry teacher and that has little to do with the professions in the agricultural sector! Still, I always watch videos about combines, but also sowing and everything that comes with it. It's really great to watch.

No, she is not Bret’s daughter. We have cut wheat which yielded like this in Kansas a couple of times.

We would to load the back of the grain cart with the combined when the grain cart driver wasn't paying attention and see their reaction when the grain cart hitch lifted the tractor hitch with a bang .😂

It is not clear to me who is the custom harvester. At first I thought it was Brett. One (or more) of the trucks have the name of the custom harvester on the door - a family from west-central Kansas. But given the episode on the Wagner tractor, it is apparent Brett is the Montana farm owner along with his dad. So can you explain who is the custom crew from Kansas? Or am I missing something?

Jim and I used to be on the road with a combine. Did it for 42 years. We sold our New Holland this spring. We’re working for this family-owned farm. They called us about coming to Montana and helping. The custom cutter on the fuel trailer was a gentleman who lived in Rush Center. He passed away from cancer over the winter.
