I'm not really a major gamer- but I've been an absolute mythology GEEK since I was 6 or 7; so when the first of these games appeared in my 30s, I needed to explore it- and I'm glad I did.

3:30 About the chains not there anymore - in the end of GOW3 when you finish beating up Zeus, look closely at Kratos, he was looking at his hands with the glowing power of hope, aswell as the chains falling off his arms...
Just love the tone of the Norse games. Kratos has lost too much, and has done even more. He just wants to protect what little he has left and to make sure his son can take care of himself. He's harsh as hell, but only because that's all he's known all his life. Probably the most realistic character development in any media.
As someone who has dealt with anger issues in the past, seeing Kratos' transformation from raging brute to mild-mannered and in control spoke volumes to me. Especially, someone who has been playing God of War since the beginning in 2005
All the emotions you can feel from this game you could feel from any other GOW game already. Don't act like this is the first game where Kratos shows emotion.
@bruh5073 yes but most of the emotions aren't drawn out but only see the tragedy and mostly anger. Here he has self awareness, love shown more, patience, trying to question his sons thinking instead of calling it wrong. Those aspects aren't either done or fleshed out enough to see.
@bruh5073 I've seen playthroughs of all of the games. Alot of those emotions I have mentioned have been sidelined by his rage and not realizing the damage he's really doing at at at times how he caused the problem.

I don't know anything about what Kratos was doing as Atreus was growing up but Faye taught Atreus everything, and she helped Kratos control his rage it seems.
Correct. Kratos knew the reason his family died was his own anger and blood lust. So he'd hunt alone letting Animals attack him and try to control his anger for days on end. Atreus thought it was because kratos didn't want him but it's the opposite reason. One thing that always was true with kratos besides his strength, is his love for his family. He lost one family before and he can't fix it. So he's making sure they stay alive with the cost being his son feels he's hated or unwanted. Faye knew his nature and his past and tried to give him wisdom to him. Though it would soon be apparent he forgot her wisdom.

It has been great to see Kratos evolve over the years, and you'll no doubt appreciate how the story keeps growing.
Regarding on why Kratos was unsure what he learned from Faye (The mother that died) Kratos realized that his anger abd bloodlust caused his family to die by his hands. So he would go off on trips into the wild for days at a time alone harnessing his anger better to protect his famiky from that anger. Faye would teach autreus in the meantime but didn't understand why. One thing that always stuck with kratos was: He loved both of his families and their loss or them being in danger make him more dangerous. He loves his son but staying away to protect him left them seperated with atreus thinking he wasnt wanted. Thats far from the truth. And with his son being his last bit of family, he would tear the eorld apart to keep him safe.
When the two of you are done with the God of War 2018 story, watch the 'Stranger' introduction again. No need to react to it, just watch the introduction again.
Hello, you two. Just subscribed, even though I've been watching some of your late videos, and I'm liking your content and reactions so far. Looking forward to see more videos😎👌 even from other franchises if possible. Take care now👍
Pretty sure an explanation as to why he looks weak is bc he's using his mental strength too much to keep his anger under control, which would weaken his physical strength. Greek gods actually grow stronger as they age, and he too is stronger, just not giving it his 100% anymore (not even in this fight you watched), he's always nerfing himself by not allowing his rage take over. He did almost slip up in this video when he screamed at his son. In the first showcase of the game, he actually had his rage meter fill up super quick when he screamed at Atreus, but slooowly started to go down when he took a deep breath as he said "Only fire when I tell you to fire".
Lol stop saying he is stronger. It's literally stated several times in ragnarok that he is weaker and kratos himself tells Freya in the boat ride that he is weaker. Even Eric Williams says old kratos is weaker and had to train for years to get some of his skill back in between the years of this game and Ragnarok. All this crap about Greek gods getting stronger with age is all headcanon. It's never once stated that Greek gods get stronger with age in the god of war universe. Stop spreading false information. Yes Cory did say that kratos was stronger a couple years ago but that crap is obviously debunked heavily in the new game with the new director and kratos himself stating in the actual game that he is weaker.
@@calebstephan2083 yea ok dude no need for the hostility, but if what you're saying about what the devs confirmed is true then thanks for the correction.
@@calebstephan2083 He’s not weaker in the new games tho. He’s just, like Eric Williams said, rusty. He held back the entirety of both games so it’s hard to say if he is actually stronger now because he never let his rage take control. Most people say he’s stronger now because Cory Barlog said he’s stronger.
Fun fact: the lyrics of the song in this moment: 8:15 are saying "outlawed god" as we see Kratos in the hallway in a new place far from his home, looking at his son who he knows is a god. All the songs with lyrics the game are in old norse, which was spoken by the vikings and is basically Icelandic as its spoken identically and is the closest to the old norse of all the scandinavian languages (not saying that the others arent close in any way, just saying that Icelandic has the most resemblance to the old norse).
Listening to baldur's opening monologue after beating the game, you realize he's speaking with the assumption that Kratos is the Giant that lived in Midgard. He didn't know who Faye was, and who Kratos was either. It's interesting
19:45 people will say they can eat salad as an option to avoid taking life but people fail to realize that plants are alive as well. Its called the circle of life for a reason all living thats take live in order to live one way or another.
One thing i always wondered and don't actually know if it's been confirmed in any way in the prequels or sequels, comics etc. But Kratos being a greek god of war, is the reason he seems exhausted, struggling to a degree in this not because of his age, but because he is a god who isn't worshipped and no longer in the domain of his own pantheon? So nothing to sustain him so to speak. Or is it something as simple as him having relied on his rage for so long to sustain him but at the beginning of this game at least, he didn't have that and nothing to take said rages place until Atreus became that source as cheesy as that sounds.
To give you guys some background so you aren't confused. In the God Of War Verse. Each Pantheon of God is it'd own Multiverse. The Greek Pantheon is its own Multiverse. When Kratos left Greece he didn't leave the country Greece he left the Greek Multiverse. And is now in the Norse Multiverse.
@@k9commander it's a multiverse because Hades, Domain of Death, Tartarus, Earth, Olympus, and Elysium are all separate dimensions are are infinite in size, same with wall the realms in the Norse Multiverse.
@@Anukinihun I don't think there is any indication that the different worlds are of infinite size. that's actually often the problem in this game. Helheim is overflowing with the dead. literally overflowing so Helwalkers show up.
@@TGPDrunknHick they explained why that is happening is because the Valkyrie weren't doing their duties to usher to dead to the Hel, because Odin sealed them away. Got to pay attention.
funny that they touched on when it comes to having to kill your food. I lived in a place outside of any easy-to-reach supermarkets. where we had to catch and skin our own food and everyone was encouraged to do the same because of the overpopulation issue. when you have an excess of deer, hogs, and rabbits. you see the horror they can reek out on the land and that leads to landslides. you have to have respect for what you hunt and to kill it quickly so it doesn't suffer. sure everyone could go vegan but unless you're growing your own food then you're basically eating food grown after being sprayed with poison. and most people don't realize just how much you have to grow to feed just two people especially if you're growing what's in season. and you have to get vitamin supplements for what you're not getting from meat.
pls continue with this change. otherwise we are gonna miss a lot of stuff.(haven't played this yet so it's kinda cool, they reeeeeally changed him up huh? the only thing remaining is the body ash and tatts)
Kratos is a perfect example of a person suffering even after successfully obtaining revenge and how there's always a price to be paid, without forgiveness!
When Kratos talks about controlling anger, he doesn’t mean “don’t express it”. He means that you should weaponize it. Instead of fighting like a dumb animal in a rage, turn in into a power boost.
I'm so glad yall decided to switch the videos up, from what i saw in the split second when you paused it before you cut off, it appears the original vid mixed clips from the 2018 game and Ragnarok, its sequel, in what i can only guess is what the uploader thought 'made sense'. For someone who may have played the games, that could've worked, for everyone else though that is horrifically confusing and spoiler ridden
Hes treating his son like spartan boys(which is where Kratos is from),where the boys were expected to be perfect warriors by the age of around 14.This means the boys are trained in deadly weapon and more brutally fist to fist, encouraging them to beat each other to a pulp. If you won, your reward was praise, and if you lost you were scolded and beaten so you will less likely lose again knowing the consequences. This is how men are shaped from an early age into perfect fighters that made 300 men a danger to Hundreds of thousands of people when they fought against the Persians.
About the part where Kratos talks about using anger as a weapon by controlling it... It may seem he does not have control over his rage (especially on the previous games), but if you think about it, he IS angry all the time, but he does not go around rampaging and killing everybody in a mindless rage. He’s still remains strategic and tactical inspite of being full of rage. He always has a goal in mind, and he uses all his anger and rage to fuel himself and reach those goals. Plus he doesnt go around and just kill indiscrimately, he only kill those who deserve it and those who stand in his way... So he does have control over his rage and anger, not in a sense where he can keep it down, but instead use it as a weapon to overcome his enemies...
lol the funny thing about this game is that there are no cutscenes as its a one take from start to finish of the game so you could say the whole game is a cutscene
For me, this is the first game where the camera continuously follows the characters, in short, there are no cut scenes. I don't remember this anywhere in other games. If there are videos for the entire game, then I will watch them with great pleasure.

It has been great to see Kratos evolve over the years, and you'll no doubt appreciate how the story keeps growing.
I’ve played every god of war game that came out, and I still have the entire collection. So I’m really enjoying this with you guys✌️✌️
And with his son being his last bit of family, he would tear the eorld apart to keep him safe.
this is good its good to see the game play and cutscene becasue the way this game was made ts one whole cutscene the camera doesnt cut away

OK, for your own good don't read the comments, some people can't help but the leave spoilers.
Take care now👍
Love to see it, need more God Of War video from your
Love the reaction. This new kratos looks amazing. The story is going to be good, and I can't wait for the next reaction. Keep it up guys 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
There are 2 comic books in between god of war 3 & god of war 2018, that explains how he gets to norse mythology
In God Of War 3 Kratos was 8ft tall
In 2018 they made him shorter at 6'8 so if you ever wonder... "wasnt he taller?" Yes he was
Why is he shorter
@@christopherking4932 to make him fit in better with the rest of the cast
Its puts the whole "I thought you'll be bigger" into prospective lol
Listening to baldur's opening monologue after beating the game, you realize he's speaking with the assumption that Kratos is the Giant that lived in Midgard. He didn't know who Faye was, and who Kratos was either. It's interesting
He was looking for Faye. They said it at the end. Kratos said it.
19:45 people will say they can eat salad as an option to avoid taking life but people fail to realize that plants are alive as well. Its called the circle of life for a reason all living thats take live in order to live one way or another.
Awesome video.
LOVE the New format keep that going
Yes! Yall gone love this one.
Yaaaaaaaasssssssssss this where the story starts getting nuts
Appreciate the longer episodes. I think with these new games around an hour long videos are best!
Each Pantheon is it's own universe, creating a GoW multiverse.
Nice , finally u both started the GOW 2018 series , can’t wait to see your reaction to this and Ragnarok
Everything about this game and its follow up... is just beyond words.
Its as good as it gets, in every possible way.
pls continue with this change. otherwise we are gonna miss a lot of stuff.(haven't played this yet so it's kinda cool, they reeeeeally changed him up huh? the only thing remaining is the body ash and tatts)
Kratos is a perfect example of a person suffering even after successfully obtaining revenge and how there's always a price to be paid, without forgiveness!
A man who defeated Zeus, needs like 4 swings with an axe to chop a tree. Really now.
....really?
Both of the new games had Kratos not use his full power, he doesn't want to be how he used to be.
The end of the world begins when the sun & moon are devoured by the wolf giants starting ragnarok
When Kratos talks about controlling anger, he doesn’t mean “don’t express it”.
He means that you should weaponize it.
Instead of fighting like a dumb animal in a rage, turn in into a power boost.
"YOU are hunting deer." 'okay which way?' "in the direction of deer" Lmao
Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
been waiting for y'all to upload this
I'm so glad yall decided to switch the videos up, from what i saw in the split second when you paused it before you cut off, it appears the original vid mixed clips from the 2018 game and Ragnarok, its sequel, in what i can only guess is what the uploader thought 'made sense'. For someone who may have played the games, that could've worked, for everyone else though that is horrifically confusing and spoiler ridden
Love the new video format
The look on my boy face when Kratos punched the boulder 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
The "your kind" was reference to Kratos being Greek, and the Greeks being know for Philosophy their famous philosophers
No, it wasn't. Baldur thought he was a giant. That was the purpose of his appearance, he was looking for Faye, one of the last giants.
Just finished Ragnarok. Been playing GOW since the first one on PlayStation 2 when I was 4
About the part where Kratos talks about using anger as a weapon by controlling it...
So he does have control over his rage and anger, not in a sense where he can keep it down, but instead use it as a weapon to overcome his enemies...
ah i love this series excellent journey its been already
"In the direction of Deer" LMAO
You can’t really do only cutscenes in this game because so much story and character development happens during traversal.
It's true. The game's story is fully integrated into the gameplay itself.
lol the funny thing about this game is that there are no cutscenes as its a one take from start to finish of the game so you could say the whole game is a cutscene
Only channel I stay for the video introduction😂
39:48 - If you guys would've focused, you'd have seen Kratos regenerate at that exact moment.
6:00 because when the tree was cut the formation that hid them from oden's eye was destroyed...
Arteus felt that so...
Finally we are here you are in for a great story
Kratos isn’t a hypocrite because now clearly he can control his anger and rage. He’s trying to teach his son how to control himself too.
Thanks to everyone that does not wanna give away spoilers to these 2. Respect!💙 Þú ek þakka👊🏻
For me, this is the first game where the camera continuously follows the characters, in short, there are no cut scenes. I don't remember this anywhere in other games. If there are videos for the entire game, then I will watch them with great pleasure.
Hi Guys, in God of war 1 if you noticed at end fight with Ares, he rips of the Chains from Kratos's hands
Idk if you guys have seen it already but there is a comic brought to life on RUclips from Comicstorian that explains how Kratos got to Midgard and how much time had passed from GoW3 till 2018 GoW
Let's go we entering the Norse saga now. Hope you enjoy the ride.
Ima need u to post a new vid, this was too good, love the uncut raw gameplay reaction
