I have 4 PS5 controllers and they were all pretty much dead (they were only holding 30 mins to 1 hr fully charged). I use all my controllers so I was looking at replacing them ALL. Very expensive (one of the controllers is the Hogwarts Legacy one too). I found you and this video and decided to try replacing one of the controller batteries to see if 1. I could do it, and 2. If it worked (held a longer charge). I did it, following your guide and it was super easy. The replaced battery controller now holds about 18 hrs (I used it over the weekend) and I feel pretty proud of myself lol. So I’ve ordered 3 more batteries to replace the other ones. Thank you so much for making this follow along so simple 😀
Thank you so much for your comment and I'm glad to see the tutorial was not only easy to follow but also added new life to your controllers (especially the Hogwarts legacy one, its a great looing controller)! It's always great to read comments like yours and I greatly appreciate your extremely generous "Super Thanks". You are amazing for the support/tip you've given this channel, Thank You So Much!! :)
Oh my lord I had no idea how much easier this was I was dreading having to replace these batteries because the PS4 controller is a NIGHTMARE The shoulder buttons have to be wedged through the outer housing perfectly and requires very small hands to do easily Thanks much for the tutorial, unlike the DS4, this is much easier for a home user to do themselves
It definitely is much easier than the old DS4 controllers. The earlier models in particular had a spring for the L1 and R1 buttons that needed to go perfectly into a specific groove made reassembly a nightmare. Glad to see the tutorial was useful!
Another satisfying and well planned tutorial. Internal batteries are a pain when they reach that point. Even so I always prefer rechargeable internal over quick and disposal.
Used your link to buy the double battery pack, thanks dude, you really showed us how easy it is to do this without having to buy a whole new controller in the process
I just upgraded the controller with this battery so far it works. As always I'm a bit skeptical, but I rather try something than to buy a whole new controller.
Best gloves in business 😄 I prefer rechargeable battaries. Both the PS4 and PS5 can charge the controller when in standy mode so I'm rarely running out of charge. Plus the controller in general is lighter with rechargeable batteries. I do wish however that the batteries had even longer performance but as you've shown it's easy enough to change the battery yourself. 👍
Excellent guide! Maybe add a note during reassembly to counter turn the screws at first until a "click" before tightening down. Otherwise they may cut new grooves and be loose.
Thanks for this video! I just replaced two controller batteries with 5000 mAh ones. I doubt I’d ever be okay with game controllers with disposable batteries like it’s the 90s again, but it’s ridiculous how quickly the stock batteries drain. These new batteries should alleviate the only issue I have with the dual sense controllers.
Thank you so much for this great video! My controller was a tiny bit stubborn pulling the shell apart, but otherwise, everything worked great following your steps! I was only getting maybe 1-1-1/2 hours out of the controller before I'd get the 'controller battery is low" or even just disconnected during a game. I used to get 8-10 hours out of it. Hopefully, it'll be back to that level now!
Appreciate the video. Got the 2 pack battery kit for both my controllers. I was getting frustrated trying to play with what little time I get lol I was getting ready to trade them in at GameStop and buying new ones before I found this video

~I prefer swapping out batteries like the xbox series X has, here's why, they last longer than the ps5 controller, and can get refreshed easy without using screw drivers, I use rechargeable batterries too. Sony should be ashamed for not having easy replaceable batteries.
That was insightful! Sadly tho my two controllers can't last 15 mins. Replaced the batteries recently (by local maintenance services) but the problem persists 🫤 not sure what's the real problem is

Hi. How is the Dualsense replacement battery from your video performing today? Is there a bigger difference in the time it takes to work than the original battery?
It is still holding strong and have not had any issues with it. It does make a bigger difference to me and a few others that have commented. Definitely adds a few more hours of game time.
When I replaced the controller featured in this video, it only held a charge for maybe 20 minutes or so. I have not timed how long it takes for the upgraded battery to fully drain but can say It does last longer than my other newer DualSense controller with the stock Sony battery. Someone commented on this video that they are now seeing about 18 hours of use with the upgraded battery.
One of the first tutorial I recorded I had a really bad cut on my hand and didn't want people to be distracted by that. So I just picked up the nearest pair of gloves I had laying around and it became a thing haha!
Does the higher Mah in the description last longer then the 2650 mah just wondering people were perfecting the 2650 over the higher capacity battery just wondering what one I should go with
That was my logic when using the 2650mAh battery for this tutorial. It was one I had the most experience with. After testing the higher capacity one from the same brand (link in the video description), I have found they are stable and work well so far. Can't go wrong with either.
The battery and tutorial should apply to all standard PS5 DualSense controllers (including different color ones and even custom variants of the standard controller. Something like a Scuff or added paddle custom controllers might be a little different but should work as long as its based off the standard controller). the DualSense Edge disassembles a little differently and uses a slightly different battery.
What if someone did put an adhesive on the battery? I'm trying to replace a potentiometer on my right analog stick should i just leave it there and try to get to the analog with the battery still plugged in?
It would depend on your comfort level with electronics and how bad the adhesive is. If it’s something like super glue I would just unplug the battery connector for safety. If you feel like you can pry it off, use a plastic pry tool and do it gently to avoid puncturing the battery.
Thin credit card gets right under it then use wd40 on a qtip. It dissolves the glue into nothing. Dead ass it works. Wd40 actually works for so many different things I found out.
Sounds like maybe the plug isn’t connect all the way down. Before you take apart your controller, leave it connected and charging for a while and see if that helps.
Great video. Can you please do an update on how the battery is holding up. How many extras hours you are getting out of it. And finally can you check out the 4000mah batteries to see if they are really 4009mah please. Many thanks@@GTRBytes
