Dude I love the new format with you bringing your friends along! As well as the look at the neighborhood around the store!
Much appreciated. I try to bring friends along whenever I can.
@@MadPanicGaming Just curios as I've visited, but never lived outside the U.S. Are the friends you've made during your time living there American, Canadian, European, aka Westerners, or have you actually made local/Japanese friends? I've read and heard that the Japanese culture is shy and generally introverted.
The Beena was Sega's successor to the Pico, but it wasn't made by Sega themselves, bu their toy division, Sega Toys. technically their final console too as it was released after the Dreamcast.
Did you see many PSX's there as well? place used to overfill with broken ones there about ten years ago.
The BluRay disk region compatibility was a great evolution from DVD or CD-ROM region codes.
I LIKE and COMMENTED and shared on my Discord. Awesome videos Jim keep it up!
north west tokyo born and raised at the hard off is where i spent most of my days
I REALLY hope nobody tries to beat me up at the Hard Off lol, I DO NOT want to move to Belair.
Great video, Jim! Alien Crush & Super Star Soldier are a killer combo of PC Engine games. Someone is going to be very happy!
I certainly hope so. Anytime I find some PCE games at an acceptable price, it's a must buy.
Another enjoyable video! And Jared seems like a cool dude.
Guardian Heroes is a game I need to have one day, for sure.
Guardian Heroes is indeed a must play if you have a Saturn
'Guardian Heroes' looks like 'Trek to Yomi' on steroids, but is the tradeoff of 'visuals for mechanics' worth the $50 price... It's surprising how many new games borrow old ideas and don't pay homage in the rolling credits. Truly educating stuff Jim.
Definitely worth $50. You could also play the digital re-release if you're on a budget
A very nice hunting video, good length and a pretty well stocked Hard Off! But man the prices have gone up the last couple of years...
Very cool game hunting video Jim. You can always find some really cool awesome games there 🕹️🎮🆒👍
Great to see you both together, I love your channels and I was just wondering if you were friends! Hope to see more Jared on your channel!! ✌️
Another great video! That boxed Seiken Densetsu 3 is on my wanted list!
It's a great game and still really affordable. The copies here were only about $7
Shoutout to Guardian Heroes! It might be my favorite Saturn game ever. Not long after I picked up a series S I actually downloaded the XBLA version off the store because I knew I had to have it. And yeah, the six-player battle mode gets wild for sure.
Mostly a great conversion although that iconic opening is now the size of a postage stamp, what gives?! Speaking of Saturn-to-XBLA conversions, I kinda had to do it through the old website but I also managed to get the HD remaster of Daytona USA on XBLA! another fun one I sank several hours into, never get tired of SEGA's classic arcade racers let me tell you.
one of these days I'm gonna have to import me a saturn and get one of those ram carts, they got some really great imports for sure.
Absolutely! The Saturn ports of games like X-men Vs Street Fighter, DoDonPachi, and Rockman X4, while pricey, make importing a Japanese Saturn a worthwhile endeavor.
The first Famicom Goonies game did not get an NES home cartridge release, but it was released in North America via Nintendo's 'NES Vs.' arcade machine as 'Goonies VS' and later was an optional game for the NES Playchoice 10 arcade machine. Goonies 2 did get an NES cartridge release.
What makes me sad is that how affordable are those game systems vs in America where they’re trying to get you to pay 150$ something w a 3rd party controller. :/ wish we could have the same like book off but feel like reseller would get everything and mark it high on eBay…
Yeah, different markets, different prices. Also, I can say that when you see consoles on sell online from Japan and the price is marked up quite a lot, part of that is due to the current INSANE shipping costs
I find your videos very relaxing to watch I just bought a victor v saturn few months back right now I want to get elevator action returns and dracula x for it I just bought groove on fight a week ago for the saturn very fun fighting game
Wow, some heavy hitters
@@MadPanicGaming I have a hand full of imports for the saturn the USA saturn games don't excite me and there to expensive
Hard off one day I will visit this place and go straight to the junk section. Didn’t see you went to the junk section in the vid unless I missed it.
I actually did film a short section in the junk area but, accidentally deleted it. Lesson learned, always make backups.
Great to see Jared on a video with you, hope maybe you'll do some more discussion based stuff with him. Enjoy seeing the overall summary of spend, would be nice to compare them against eBay prices to see what you/buyers are saving. Thanks sharing, Jim.
Oh, and games I'm especially looking for as you requested - Vampire Killer for Mega Drive ($$$)
Didn't a bunch of NTSC Sealed chrono crosses flood the internet a couple years ago. I also think Square Enix was selling brand new PS1 games tell recently.
No idea, hadn't heard about that
As a HUGE Treasure fan myself, Guardian Heroes was one of the last Treasure games I needed. After years of holding it off, I finally got my North American copy last year. Already beat it a few times. Great game. Wasn't cheap, but I very rarely get modern games, so that's how I justify it. 😁 The sprite work alone makes the purchase worth it. Thank you for the video.
Another excellent video and loving the epic Tshirt too Jim !
Thank you!
Awesome tour, Gooines was released in the USA but it's a totally different game from Goonies 2, I could never find part 2 in the USA, because it was only on that Players Choice in the arcade.
Jim i must admit but yes, the gradius box art catched my eye back in the Day when i was a kid and allways liked it and the game too so it must be presented in its full glory so everyone couldt see it immediatly.
Great video!
Shenmue at that price was new sealed?!
No, not sealed, but sill a super cheap game
videos like this are having a very real effect on my itinerary xD ...especially when I see original PS3's for 7,700, woah
Man, you got the more awesome t-shirts... and greats videos btw
Arcade Typing of the Dead ran on Naomi, which is very much not a PC. It's just a Dreamcast with more RAM and slightly higher clock speeds.
My Japanese wanted list is as follows - Doremi Fantasy, Spartan X, Hoshi no Kirby, Battle Mobile SFC, Vampire Savor, Kid Dracula, Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti, Pacman FC clamshell, Dondokodon 2 FC, Mario Bros 3, Salamander FC, Exerion FC, Takahashi Meijin no Boken Jima FC, PCE vol 49 Adventure island, Spriggan powered SFC, Sparkster SFC, Flying Hero SFC, Ghost Sweeper SFC, Gogo Ackman 3 SFC, Kiki Kaikai SFC, Hermie Hopperhead PS1, Wani Wani World MD, Warehouse Game MD, Sin and Punishment N64, Internal Section PS1, Gunners Heaven PS1, Puzzle Bobble 3dO, Mariopaint mouse pack SFC, Lickle FC, Kunio Renegade FC, Double Dragon FC, Gan Gan Chan SFC. Some big bucks to be spent there. I also want an SLS PS2 Saturn joypad. I have 1 already, but want another for Street fighter on PS2 (2p). I'm also picking up hardware in August, on my list is any White PS2 system, they are small so fit easily in suitcases. I already have a pickup waiting for me, a 1994 SCPh1000 PS1 system mint in box. I bought a launch ps1 in 1994 and mine is a bit beat up as I travelled around the world with it. I will be in the hunt for a SCPH10000 PS2 CIB as well. If the hotel will help me ship stuff home I might put a hardware box together along with a front loader neo geo cd and if I can afford it a wondermega. I don't have the budget for all of this, i'll buy what I see on the list in August. Maybe see you there Jim if your up for it, we are staying in Akiba near the train station.
Great video filled with awesome retro games🤗 I've just booked my flight to Tokyo in June. Can't wait to go Game Hunting. Do you know if there are ocassionally PAL Versions to be found in those kind of stores? Another thing on my shopping list is an orange Game Cube, a Pickachu edition N64 and a PSVita.
Stores who offering some pal games are for example super potato and trader 2. Ive found a Orange gamecube for less than 1000¥ at BEEP last month. Good luck finding pal games👍🏽
I know for sure Goonies came to PAL because I played it on the NES as a kid. But I think there's some weird thing like we got the second one but it was just named Goonies.
PS: poi poi!!
Jared looks like he would’ve been a vocalist for a metalcore band inspired by Integrity and All Out War, haha. Great video! I would love to be able to pickup a Japanese backwards compatible PS3 for those prices.
I went to that Hard Off a few months ago! When were you there?
I think we shot this in January
I'd like to have Dragon Quest 8, Macross, and Stellvia for the PS2.
Question: is there anything on a Hard Off label to indicate whether PC Engine games have their registration card inside? I know if there’s a spine card for CD games they display it on the outside. Is the only way to know for sure to have the employees check for you?
Another great retro video game hunt
Thanks!
I caught those old-skool ECW transitions (lol) #PulpFictionSegment

Hi Jim,
I'm going to visit Japan for the first time in May, are there some stores you recommend I check out? Truthfully looking for Street Fighter/KOF/Sega/Konami merch. Any recommendations will be appreciated!
Got your self a new sub.keep up the good content🔥🔥🔥🔥
Much appreciated 👍
03:04 lol
There are so many whacky Arnold Japanese commercials
Pick up the Super Mario world guide next time. The comic inside has a few surprises 😄😄😄
will take some pokemons cards
Hmm, I've sold about a billion games, but never dabbled in trading cards. If you really want to get some cards from Japan, you can shoot me a message at kidshoryuken@gmail.com or dm me on Twitter, Instagram etc.
Video game shopping with Conor Mcgregor? awesome dude.
Re-Animator… classic 💪👌
How do you get stuff from the displays? do you just grab it or do you ask the staff?
29:54 18 Wheeler!
So I know yoiu can occasionally find some Japanese stuff over here in the states depending on where you are looking...
I was just curious.. Do you ever see any English/American versions of games out there in Japan? If so do they charge a lot more?
Kinda random question, but never even thought to ask until now. Thanks!
Yes, I come across NTSC and PAL games here from time to time. There's not a big market for them here so they're not really that expensive.
For an original Hori N64 controller, those prices are great.
When you buy consoles in Japan, are you required to pay import tax when you arrive back to your home airport? I live in the UK.
Not sure about that, not something I've ever done.
you ingored silva saga 2 i finished it to the end like dragon quest!
in your opinion what's the greatest to come out of the SNES? I'd say DKC. Cheers
My personal favorite SNES game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
What happened to Kidshoryuken??
Retired, now just plain Jim
Where abouts was this dude

Hey Jim, I love your channel definitely want to go to Japan. Someday I’ve been looking for a copy of CIB Original MARIO 64 Japanese Version not the rumble version. It has a special place for my father that passed away in 2006 that was the first game and system we bought together before the US version came out as far as the system went and he’s bought me video games my entire life until he passed away, but I was hoping if you have time And are able to find a boxed copy of Mario 64. It doesn’t have to be perfect but I would like to have the box in the manual and the cartridge in good shape. I’ll pay you and pay whatever you need me to pay for you to ship it to Ohio, it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully you see this. If not, I’ll post it on your next video. Thanks again Ryan.
Shoot me an email at kidshoryuken@gmail.com
@@MadPanicGaming I emailed you
@@MadPanicGaming I shot you an email. Thanks again let me know whatever you can do if you can I’m not pressuring you to do anything special but I always watch your channel and I thought maybe since you live there I have a better chance than getting ripped off on eBay lol.
I thought it's Kid Shoryuken
I changed the channel name last month
Anyone remember blind panic?
That display case was FIRE. Jared seems chill, possibly a downlow homosexual, nice he found some solace in Japan.
Idk, I'd ask his wife about that
@@MadPanicGaming interesting, its def a different demeanor from his appearance
I would love to go over there and stock up on Neo Geo stuff
