- Today I hopped on the train and headed way out west to a neighborhood I actually used to live in many years ago to visit my once favorite Hard Off, and I walked away with a MASSIVE stack of games!

32 days to my trip to japan, you and retro rewire have been helping me a lot. Thanks man.
We Japanese sincerely welcome you to Japan. Please enjoy Japan.🌷🗾
Being able to go to shops and buying physical media is a blessing even retro stuff most of the places including retro shops that I used to go to in the states are no longer around even the shopping malls here are dying can't wait to get back to Asia
True, I'm very fortunate to live somewhere that I can still enjoy the occasional game hunt
Nice thing about Japan is most of those Saturn games were sold well and played well by people back in the 90s who don't want them anymore so a bunch of those games are dirt cheap now. Don't overpay for them on ebay, just go to Japan. Trust me, paying ebay prices for Japanese games that are still available is gonna cost you as much as a plane ticket anyway. Might as well fly there and get all your favorite games for cheap.
Hello! Love your traveling log tours of Book Off and Hard Off reseller stores (There’s one in Manhattan!) What is that smooth jazz song after the Crash and PaRapapa Ad, playing at the remainder of the video tour? Thanks again!
Gradius II does have a subtitle, Gofer no Yabou. There is a Lethal Enforcers Deluxe Pack, we got it in the US as Lethal Enforcers I & II, a PS1 release only.
The good thing about retro games making a come back is that older titles that weren't what they were supposed to be have a chance to be remade into a better version. For example, when I found out that a Medabots and Monster Rancher existed I was so hyped, but when I saw the gameplay was all battle and no adventure I was immediately disappointed. Even when retro games are outrageously overpriced helps game developers know what games fans want remade. What I really wanna see is a decent 3D Sailor moon or Disney's Duck Tales / Darkwing Duck game come to the Switch... or Limited Run Games start cranking out premium indie 3DS games nobody's heard of.
Mushihimesama Futari, was ported to IOS and named bug princess 2. You reviewed this game on the channel for the Xbox 360 a few years ago 👍 great game. Love the video. I bought crimson clover today, it’s beautiful just bullets spraying all over the screen.
Crimson Clover is amazing, I've only played it at the arcade but I need to get a home version
@@MadPanicGaming Yeaahh, Buddy! We need some Capcom Vs Snk 2 date night footage at the house, or Crimzon Clover footage at the house . Japanese girls, and all hot chics love shootemups/bullet storm games, they really do. You know what else is pure? Mario Kart Wii. I’m going to go play the theme song for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. Have a day, baby!
Wow the console prices have jumped at least 100% from the last time I went to Hard Off about 3 years ago. Love these game hunting vids!
Something about these vids never gets old lol. You always have new shit to say all the time. Enjoyed it.
Must be my sexy voice
I wish a new port of Mushihimesama Futari for modern consoles was released. Great Game hunt Jim!
I'm hoping M2 will give us a Mushihimesama release
Ah the memories, this use to be one of main HardOff’s I would check out when I was stationed at Yokota AB
same here
great video man, also thanks for the info. i had a blast
8:46, ahh the classic “old gray LEGO” UV yellowing or straight up nicotine I’d say hahahaha. My grandma yellowed the hell out of the NES and SNES, she was actually pretty good at the platformers and puzzles for a while.
Holy throwback to the old Jim days, gah damn.
Salamander Deluxe Pack is the one you forgot to mention at the end there.
In Osaka the slim PS2 have doubled in price from 2 years ago.
Enjoyed watching and some nice games. i own a Toshiba HX-10 MSX. have many of the Konami cartridges
Nice. I'd love to own an MSX and some Konami games but that stuff gets a bit pricey
Thanks for taking us along with your game hunting! I actually have Mushihimesama on Steam! Thank you for teaching me how to say it!
I was never expecting Myst to turn up in Japan :O
You might be surprised at how many western developed games from back in the day got releases in Japan and were quite popular here
Thank you for this video. This helped make my day.
Oh wow Myst, what a legendary game that is. Finally finished it last year without any tutorial,.
Myst and D were my first experiences with that kind of point and click, puzzle solving gameplay, lowkey a gameplay style that I really love
Always great to see you Jim. Adventure Island famicom complete in the case couldn't get a lock on the price. Seems Japan is drying up I have games on my list of pickups that just ain't popping up anymore in these videos.
Idk about drying up, maybe I just need to fan out more?
@@MadPanicGaming we have something in common we love Konami (retro Konami). And so do retro collectors because everything Konami has shot up in price stateside and in Europe. Your videos seem to be married to your patreon wants or maybe what you like. I have games on my wanted list like sfc spriggan, doremi fantasy, internal section ps1, battle mobile sfc, exerion famicom, splatterhouse graffiti FC, pacman fc (hard boxed that goes for 100s of dollars). On the hardware side I haven't seen any saturn sls ps2 controllers I saw one for 7000y in someone's video once. I want one for my street fighter ps1/2 collection. Something I decided to do myself is get a color coded set of ps2, I chose white. I have a memory card so far the rest is on my wanted list when I get there. Remember Japan has tons of colored stuff you don't get elsewhere but you dont cover it or seem to get excited about it. Of course you don't know what's in store until you get there and that is part of the attraction. However perhaps making you own target list and hunting it down could be a draw for your audience. I would join your patreon but decided to do it after I visit Japan just in case you miraculously got everything lol. I booked September last year but covid restrictions only lifted 2 weeks after I booked. That's hurt me a bit and your videos help me with that disappointment.
Mushihimesama is also on the Nintendo Switch
Nice Sony MSX 2 model that one and ok price.
It's always nice when I have most of the MSX titles that are in the glass case section :)
They had some nice condition boxed Super Famicom titles.
Gun Dec looks really cool, hadn't heard/seem that one before. I'll add it to my list of ones to get.
Mushi Futari on 360 has the Arrange mode. Try that, it's overwhelmingly awesome. M2 were on fire there. Hope to see a Live Wire version on Switch. Check out Drainus, see what you think.
Watched again - Wii-U's are bricking because the battery that holds an important operating system element is dying with old age if you don't use it much. Use it regularly.
Really cool to see PC games in that hard off.
I love Yoshi's Cookie so much.
awesome game
funny enough I just picked up DBZ Super Butoden 2! so I've definitely been keeping up on the retro collecting. (also got space invaders and FFVI for SFC) I do love these -off videos, they always give me ideas for future pickups! like I've been toying with the idea of jumping in on PCE stuff, however I worry collecting would get prohibitively expensive, though!
With PCE, there are still affordable games, but if you want some of the heavy hitters, it's best to start a savings fund lol
@@MadPanicGaming hah I believe it! thanks for the advice I'll have to be on the lookout.
awesome pickups
Thanks!
very cool hunt..keep up
You keep watching them, I'll keep making them
Awesome vid. I just joined your game box level 1 and just wondering how it works. Love your videos keep it up
I'll message you there and get all your info
You should have put a clip at the end panning through all the games you bought. Did you have a suitcase to haul them all back?
I always have my backpack with me and once that's full everything else goes into the biggest bag they have at the store
Very Cool game store Jim I would love to go to Japan one of these days and go game hunting and then go broke lol 😁😁
Super Double Dragon was my favorite Double Dragon, but I think my more controversial opinion is that G Gundam was my favorite series. Colony Wars is a GOAT
"360 isn't really retro" ...I feel that in my bones
On the top of my list is the Arc-made Hokuto No Ken PS2 fighting game. I can't believe that was never localized, but that was before Arc made FighterZ and really made themselves known among gamers other than Blazblue and Guilty Gear enjoyers.
Oh man, Hokuto no Ken is one of my favorite fighters, first day in Japan I sat down and played it at an arcade for the first time and I was hooked
Quite expensive, but then again retro prices in Poland...
See if you can find one of those Shonen Jump Famicom Minis.
Hello Jim, As a die hard import game collector I am a big fan of your channel!
I was wondering what the name of the background music is you use at around 33:45
I hear a lot of RUclipsrs use it and I really enjoy it.
It's the Aqua Man stage theme from Mega Man 8, that entire soundtrack is solid gold
Dayum 7700yens for a PS2? Here in Brazil you can get a PS2 anytime for 200R$ (something around 39 U$) sometimes even with the box and 2 controllers, it's not even rare for this to happen
Gasbook is a music label focused on multimedia and techno music, great discovery I want it now (ꈍᯅꈍ) There is a complete discogs page about the content of this box.
I have Mushihimesama on Steam. Great game. I would love more shmups in my collection, but they can be ridiculously expensive. Especially Saturn/DC.
I went to a shop called hard on but they had no games..
An easy mistake to make
Nice video! Are there good ways to find a Job/Housing outside the Tokyo Area ? (from Germany)
Hola jimbo
Hola amigo
They really need to re-release Mushi Hime'sama Futari.. it rubbed me wrong they only did the first one an that version is still stuck on stupid Loser X-box 360 still X.X ;;
Hopefully M2 will port it to modern consoles
Is the pricing better further out of Tokyo? I’m staying near Akihabara, hoping to pick some games and an N64 on my upcoming trip.
Yes, prices are generally better outside of central Tokyo
where is this hardoff looks good
Hamura in west Tokyo
@@MadPanicGaming awesome thanks
Since you mentioned this is your old location, I’m curious what it’s like to move places in Japan. Do they have companies that will move for you?
Yeah, there are moving companies here, and agencies to help you find a good place to live that have multiple language options. My current agent works in English, Japanese, and Korean.
@@MadPanicGaming Awesome thanks!
How can I find this in Google maps? I will go to Japan in december 🥹
Just look up Hard Off Hamura
