Tony Monaco great friend for many yrs. Visiting after gigs @ Jazz Kitchen in Indy. George Smith's Music Center, Inc Hammond Full & Pro Line Dealer 47 yrs.
I LOVE HAMMOND ORGAN SOUNDS REMINDS OF COMMERCIALS OF THE SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES ESPECIALLY YOUNG LADIES WEARING SKIRTS ESPECIALLY MINISKIRTS, DRESSES, MINIDRESSES WITH TIGHTS AND STOCKINGS.
Man! I had to stop "following" you in the middle and just start listening... :-) To the end your baseline is just incredible!! Also I do have to give credit to the '63 organs too though :-) Amazing Groove!
And that X66 in the background. My dad owned several L, M100 and A100's, and at one time he bought an X66 just like that, with the Leslie. It was huge! My mother turned white when she saw it in our livingroom. Anyway.. excellent groove there mister Monaco, thank you!
I bought one about 16 years ago just because it had a really nice 122 with it. one of the absolute worst organs they ever made, and adjusted for inflation, probably the most expensive. back then, you could have bought 3 B3s new for what an X66 cost. and they sounded horrible - shrill and brittle with a lot of background noise from the early solid state electronics. I actually traded it to a guy for a B3 with another 122!
Ah yes, I'd take a B3 over an X66 any day of the week! Too many bells and whistles for my taste. I guess it is great if one likes theatre organs. The one my father owned broke down many times, although by the time he sold it it was fully working. There were those integrated dipped PCB's for the octave dividers that started giving up one by one after a problem in the power supply. That was fun to repair. Excellent deal on the B3 with 122 I'd say! I live on the third floor of an old house with a very small staircase, so no Hammond at this time. I miss it.
bentenbroek the X66 was a stunning organ to look at (like something from the Jetsons,) and it was a nice playing organ. it was just lacking in the sound department. also, it was huge and heavy as sin. it made moving a B3 seem like an easy task. I've had 2 B3s over the years but only have 2 T500s right now. also have a nord electro which is really nice to practice on (also a lot smaller/lighter!)
he's playing B flat minor diatonically using triad inversions. which means at 3:05 he's playing Bb left hand, then in right hand plays Db major triad 2nd inversion, Eb major triad 2nd inversion, and then F minor triad 2nd inversion and back down :)
I have so much respect for 3-'board Hammond players - and Tony has such an amiable, generous spirit.. I just don't get why anyone would give this clip a thumbs down... ?
Hammond's key click was considered bothersome to pipe players, but jazz players loved the biting attack it allows. Hammond tried to minimize it with a high-end rolloff for a while, but decided to keep the jazz players happy.
Yap there's the acoustic sound of the keys themselves clicking (which you can hear at low volume and sounds cool). Then there's "percussion" which is part of the amplified sound and comes out the speaker.
hi there! we also have in church a micro tecnica tipo CV n.517 torino... we are planning to sell this organ, how much do you think the value of this organ? thanks
The tune is "Indonesian Nights" for those that are wondering. He has an awesome recording of it on "Celebration".
thank you so very much, I'ma order it right now
its so good
Ordering now.
Malam Indonesia maksudnya?
So my year and a half old daughter LOVES this clip.
She's off to a good start!
Your daughter has great taste!
Thanks for posting Tony. Left hand bass is amazing! Very inspiring...
2:36 and the souuuuuul DROPS
This organ is perfect to play nude, in the front garden, on a hot summers night, swilling jd! Neighbours love that shit.
Is this at Lonnie Smith's music store... or Dr. Lonnie Smith's music store?! Confusing, both are organ-playing cats.
Tony is just amazing. Really like the way he comps between solos.
Ladies and gentlemen, the GREAT Tony Monaco.
The Hammond GURU, indeed and very passionate teacher.

I'm addicted to this clip. Tony Monaco gives you da funk !!
Smooth, rich and relaxing, like a chocolate toddy with tia maria before going to bed.

This should be censored for illigaly well playing of an instrument
"I heard the dink"
Hmmm this is super relaxing ! Is he playing this out of his head or can i buy it somewhere in hq?
BTW, Tony Monaco's recorded version of "Indonesian Nights" is good, too!
He got the Groove! so disgusting . SICK!
He seriously is a sick fuck with ridiculously funky rhythms in BOTH hands SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Man! I had to stop "following" you in the middle and just start listening... :-) To the end your baseline is just incredible!! Also I do have to give credit to the '63 organs too though :-) Amazing Groove!
And of course I mean the groove came from you Tony, not from the Organ :-)
+Teijo Forsell If the organ is a '63, you are not hearing the organ, you're hearing the maintenance, or the rebuild.
Awesome!!! I think I like this better than the studio version :)
Fucking sick
Tony Monaco has four hands and a great 5th.
oh man!, this groove is just incredible....amazing 😊

3:05 What are those chords ? those three he plays in a sequence diii dii beeee baaa bap ?

Well, first you play some stank, then you take it up so it gets kinda fonky, then you do some squibbly-dibbly doobity bops.
